Levi and Lila went down for dinner. She knew that if her mom was at home, they could not sit at home without sitting at the dinner table to have dinner. Levi was not a fan of the stick rules, but he did not have any choice. It was quite obvious that Lila was serious about obeying her mom's rules even in her absence and she knew it made no sense for him to discourage her about it.

"This is a feast!" Levi exclaimed when he saw the spread on the table. He wondered why there was so much to eat when it was just the two of them. He thought of how much work the kitchen staff must have put into the meal to have it looking like something that would only be gotten on palace grounds.

"Yeah, it would have been more if Mom were around." Levi did not like the sound of what he heard.

"But this is a lot. I doubt if both of us can eat enough to go halfway."

"Of course we can't; if we do that, it would just be overeating," she said, shaking her head as if she was disappointed that he suggested they eat

Lila could not sleep the entire night; her mind kept going back to what her dad said, so as soon as she saw the sun peeking out of the clouds, she was in the bathroom freshening up to go see her father. She could not let her mom think she was an unreasonable child; after all, she had scolded her about it yesterday, and she had promised to do better.Levi had gotten up at the same time she did, and he had gone out for a run. "He really does take his fitness seriously," she murmured as he stepped out of the room. At the moment, she barely had her act together, so how could she be thinking of getting fit?Levi walked back into the room after a few minutes and she was all dressed, ready to go. He knew that she was going to visit her father, but he felt bad that she had to be gaslighted into going there. He understood that as a child, you'd feel some certain obligation towards your parents, but he did not like the way her mother had made her feel last night. He wanted to stop her, but he k

Lila could not believe that the monsters she was expecting turned out to be really sweet people. With the way his mom welcomed her from the door, one would never believe that there was truly a war going on between both families. It made her wonder if it was only her family that was keeping up the war or if the Beaumont family was just a bunch of really good actors. She was leaning towards the latter because there was no way they were going to be really sweet towards her that way.Her mother was the exact opposite but she began to think otherwise with the way Levi's twin sisters interacted with their mother. She would get heavily scolded for speaking with her mom in that manner. She saw Daniel smile at his son and there was no mention of the news about them and their marriage.Eventually, when Catherine brought it up, Lila was shocked at the direction the conversation had gone. "I am sure it must have been strenuous for you," Catherine began."What?""I mean, having to be constantly wa

Levi brought Lila to the restaurant, and it was then she discovered she was underdressed for the occasion. When he had asked her to hang out and said that he had made reservations, it did not occur to her that it would be something fancy at all, so she was still in the same clothes she was going to wear to the hospital. What she could not understand was why he was also casually dressed. He knew where they were coming from, so why did he not dress up to par? Her thoughts were immediately cut short by the waitress, who introduced herself as Moon. She left them at their table and announced that she would be serving them for the day. "Thank you," Levi said after her little introduction, and she giggled as if he had said something funny. He smiled at her, and she wondered who was flirting. Maybe Jasmine was right about his beauty because everywhere they went there always seemed to be a woman who was interested in him. "We will take a minute to get our orders together and call you as s

Eleanor was waiting at the front door for them with an angry expression on her face. As soon as they came down from the car and began to walk to her, she put her hand on her waist and threw the second hand in a finger wiggle at her daughter's face. She was so angry that she felt she might slap her daughter if she could not pull herself together. She took a deep breath before they stopped in front of her."Where did you go all day? I thought you would come to the hospital to see your father. Why didn't you think about being a good daughter? Why was all you thought about just being a bad child? What else is more important than your father? You put him in that position; shouldn't you at least try to check in with him?" The woman's words poured out without any compassion. Levi frowned because he did not like her tone, and her words were even worse. He began to wonder if Eleanor was the real child of the Carringtons because nothing they had done to her made sense. How could her mother be

Overwhelmed with emotions of confusion about what had just happened, she walked over to him with both hands on her waist as she stared at him. He was seated on one of the sofas and slowly looked up at her with confusion as to why she was acting like that."Am I miserable? Do I look like I need pity? Or sad?" She asked."What are you talking about?" Levi could not understand her; he thought back to the entire day, and he could not pinpoint anything he had done to cause such a reaction from her."Why did you tell my mom all of that?" he asked. "Was that the reason you did that in the morning?" she asked as things began to make sense to her."Lila, listen to me.""Oh my goodness!" she exclaimed, running her hand through her hair angrily. "You must think that I am pitiful," she added with a scoff. "I can't believe this," she added as she began to pace around the room."You are getting all of this wrong.""Was the reservation even made before we left this house?" she asked, and when he did

Lila felt a sense of relief overshadow her as she saw her sister stand there. She rushed to her and wrapped her hands around her body, holding her tightly. Elizabeth raised her hand to her sister's hair, rubbing on it gently as the little one, Charlie, stood there confused as to what was happening. Noah cleared his throat to alert Lila, who slowly let go of her sister."Hi, brother-in-law," she greeted as if she had not just created a scene unknowingly. She smiled at him, and he greeted her back with a warm smile."Hello Lila, I have to say the marriage glow is on you." He trailed off when his wife shook her head at him. "I apologize," he said immediately and held his son's hand, leading him in."What are you doing here?" Lila asked as soon as Noah was out of hearing range."I am here to see you. I am so worried about you; I know how difficult it can be to live with Mom, so I came here," Elizabeth said. Lila felt touched by her words, but at the same time, she felt weirded out to hear

Soon they were all seated at the table for lunch, and for the first time in a long while, Lila saw a big smile on her mother's face. It was like looking at an alien. It was as if she were trying to punish her for something she must have done. Each time Lila tried to talk to her mom, she found a way to divert the attention back to someone else at the table. She was angry or displeased about something, and she was making sure to make it known to them all at the table. Levi could not understand why on earth a mother could be that cold to her daughter, and for what real reason?Lila tried her best to act as if nothing her mother did bothered her but in reality she did not like it; maybe if she had gotten married to someone else and had given her mother grandbabies, things would have been different; maybe she would have smiled widely at her like she did with Elizabeth and Victoria. Maybe she would say good things about her, but not only that, she was quite disappointed about a lot of thing

Lila tossed and turned in bed all morning; she had been so restless. The entire day yesterday went by the same. After lunch, dinner was still the same, with her mom fussing over Elizabeth and her child with little attention to her. It made no sense to Lila because the last children were the ones that they usually spoilt, but in the case of her mother, it was the reverse. It seemed like Elizabeth was a little more like her mother, so the woman took a liking to her more than anyone else. She finally pushed aside the laziness she felt and sat up in bed; she looked around, and Levi was nowhere to be seen. She was not surprised, as he was an early riser and she had known that from the honeymoon. Maybe he was out exercising. She glanced at the time and noticed it was getting closer to the time for breakfast. She hurriedly got out of bed and went on to freshen up because her mom would talk about her showing up to eat breakfast in her pyjamas. She styled her hair before heading downstairs. Th

Lila thought long and hard about how she could make Levi want to stay at the manor. She knew that once she successfully planned this party and her mom saw her potential, then she would look at her with more love. Maybe she might even compliment her a little, and that was exactly what Lila wanted. If her mom could just acknowledge her, then she would want to run out of the manor like she felt in that moment. She suddenly thought of something that might make Levi want to stay in the mansion. Maybe if his ex-girlfriend were there, then he would want to stay, as he would see her every day. That could be a good reason for him. She smiled as she tried her best to contact Fiona.Fiona was one of those girls who said harsh words with a smile on their face. So they try to maintain a nice appearance while being the mean girl. When Lila had reached out to her and explained her situation, stating that she would love to give her a job at the manor. Fiona told her blankly that she did not need the

Every single time Levi spoke to Lila, she couldn't help but notice that something was different between them. She constantly found herself daydreaming about his long, slender fingers or maybe his face at times. Even though she did not want to admit it, she was sensing the growing feelings from her end and no matter what, she could not bring herself to accept it."Levi Beaumont?" she murmured to herself as she stared in the mirror. After the buzz feeling from the charity event was over, she was now back to the worker she hated so much. It was still a mystery to her why she would be fired and given such a job that was below her but she did not think about it too much, as all she thought about was trying to please her mother and occasionally Levi found a way into her mind."How can it be? How can I like him? It is impossible because I hate him and our families as well. Not only do I hate him because he is a Beaumont but also we have been rivals for the ongets time so this feeling must be

Lila told herself that the thing with Levi and his ex-girlfriend would not affect her mood but she was totally wrong. She stayed at the bar trying to make sure she did not see what they were doing but she was either drinking heavily or trying to turn around to see what had happened. She knew her mother would have been disappointed in her that night even though she did not really know why she would have been; all she knew was that she would frown and turn her nose upwards. From the bar where she stayed, all she could see was Levi and Fiona flirting uncontrollably. "Shouldn't he act as if he is married? I know that all of this is for show but still, what about respecting me?" she murmured as she circled the rim of her glass with her finger. She bent her head and sighed at how unlucky she was in life. She tried to cheer herself up but no matter what she said to herself, it did not seem to make her feel better; all she felt was worse. Her phone rang, startling her, and for some reason she

Lila finally understood why everyone cheered when they announced the people bidding because now she was actively raising her baton and screaming numbers in the air. Every time someone outbid her, she thought of her life before she raised it in the air and screamed a higher number. She knew her mother would think of her actions as foolish, but seeing that Levi was well-liked by everyone in the hall, she had no choice but to go higher.Levi could not tell if she was teasing him with her actions or if she was being for real with it because she had not seemed interested in anything happening since the bidding started. He smirked at her and received no reaction, as she seemed too busy with the bid. He prayed she would bid high, that she would win, as he would very much like that.Levi was not surprised by the numbers flying in the air; it was a charity, and every businessman wanted to use this opportunity to feel like a saint in society. Tomorrow, the headlines would read something noble a

The Mc told them all to have a seat, and Lila almost cheered in happiness. She was not uncomfortable with dancing with Levi; she just did not like the way they stared at each other and how awkward things were because of the kiss they shared. The host announced that the bid would be in two parts to raise money for a children's charity, stating that there would be two parts where they would bid on items as scheduled, and after that, they would bid on eligible bachelors among them. She had been a workaholic who would rather donate anonymously than show up to events like this, so she never knew what events like this were. Seeing that after hearing that they would bid for bachelors, everyone seemed normal, she had to agree that it was a normal occurrence as well.Everyone in the hall cheered. Lila looked around as she wondered if she was the only one who did not get the concept of the bidding on people's part. She did not pay attention to the auction as she heard people pour millions of do

The kiss continued, and both hands flew across their body as if this was not the first time they were doing this. With how swift they were, one would think they had been a cosy couple with each other. The way the lips moulded with each other was a sign that they both wanted this.Lila, however, was sure that it was because of how sad she felt earlier that caused this. She was not the kind of girl to just think of kissing a man and do it just because of the fun of it, and moreover, this was Levi; Levi was not the kind of man she would think of kissing just like that. She began to realise what was happening, and her heart was racing with numerous worries.'Why are your eyes closed? Why are you enjoying this? Why does it feel like something you've been missing and that you want?' Lila screamed at herself in her mind before jerking out of the kiss. It was hard to blame it on anyone, as they had both initiated and kissed each other with the same vigour. She stood up and hurried out of the

Lila just realised how popular Levi was as they walked in; different people kept standing up to talk to him, and he made sure to first introduce her to them before engaging them in any conversation whatsoever. Lila got tired of standing as she thought they would be sitting by then. She leaned into his ear and whispered. "I'll be in the washroom," she said before slipping away. She knew what they were speaking on, but she did not want to chime in, especially since they had not asked her to. She was glad to be away from the conversation and people at once. From the door of the room, she could tell that there was a group of girls in there, and from the sound of it, they were talking about someone. She got into the washroom and maybe the girls in there did not know she was the one but they seemed to be talking about her. "Talk about gold digger vibes," one of them said and the rest snickered."I mean, she swore that she hated him but then went on to marry him." It was obvious that these g

By the time the crew that was in charge of transforming Lila was done, it was already evening. Lila felt a bit sore from sitting through it all, but when she looked at herself in the mirror, it compensated for it. She could not remember the last time she was so glammed up, maybe when she was doing her modelling gigs while still at university. Seeing herself look that good sent shivers down her spine and made her feel self-conscious."Lila, I have to say if I weren't straight, I'd ask you to marry me right here and now," Jasmine exclaimed with joy. Eleanor had been kicked by Jasmine being in the room and fussing over every little thing that was done to Lila, and for Eleanor, this was the last straw; she did not like what Jasmine had said, especially in front of everyone there."What was that?" Eleanor asked, and Jasmine realised that she might have made a mistake. She shook her head and offered a smile instead. "I think it's time for you to leave," Eleanor added immediately, causing Ja

Lila didn't want to be a part of her mom's little house business, but seeing that she had no choice, she adjusted. Within a few days, she was already getting along with the staff. They were on a lunch break, and since she did not know where she was supposed to stand in the house while working, she decided that it might be a good thing for her to eat with the staff instead of on the big dining table all alone."Working here is so fun." Lila rolled her eyes when she heard that. She could not believe that she was forced to hear that at least three times a day. "Don't you just love it?" All the staff spoke about was how lucky they were to work there, and she was getting tired of it. She raised her head to see one of the house staff standing there. She bowed her head to her, and Lila stood up to meet her."The lady of the house said I should bring you with me," she announced. Lila's eyebrow furrowed as she wondered what her mother wanted. She barely interacted with her while she worked at t
