Chapter 56: Darren

On Thursday morning, we wake up as usual with two exceptions.  Instead of driving to work, Lauryn does and I watch Miah.  Now the only time we need the babysitter is when we want to be alone, at least until I find another corporate position.

I hear the phone ring, taking it out of my pocket I see that it's from Mr. Reynolds.  "It's all taken care of.  You are officially the sole parents of Miah and you will never hear from Jaiden again.  Apparently they found her body hanging from the jail cell.  I was told that she supposedly hung herself with her bed sheet."

Standing up and pacing, I ask, "Did you file a lawsuit with the Chronicle?"

"Yes and as soon as I did, their lawyers offered up a settlement.  Will you take a formal apology on the front page of the newspaper and twenty million dollars for compensation?  I told them I would have to talk it over with you, but figured the sum was too low considering you lost a multi
