He was in his office, sitting calmly on his chair, indulged in a deep thought.

His eyes were focused on something more particular, a picture stuck between his rough fingers. He was staring at the younger version of the girl, he met just a few hours ago.

She was still the same, just got more beautiful and skinny after hitting puberty.

"I'm surprised Christopher, the fate made me meet with your daughter again" he smirked maliciously.

Flash back

"Sir, her name is Ruby Jane, the daughter of a man named Christopher Adams. He died in a car accident seven years ago. Her mother named Samantha is currently admitted in hospital, almost dying die to a heart disease. Samantha knew about the murderer of her husband who hit and ran that night. And she went to court and filed a case against......" Joseph stopped hastily, not daring to utter the name in front of his boss. In fear he batted his eyes lashes, and waited for him to react.

"Go on" he commanded, like he already knew very well about it.

"Mr Wayans, the owner of Wayans enterprises, currently called Dawson enterprises. But she failed and lost the case against the other party. She got into depression and struggled to raise her daughter alone. But currently due to Angina pectoris, her heart has failed and she needs a transplant which her daughter can't afford. So doctors have declared her almost dead" he ended reading the research paper from laptop which he got from his spying agents.

"Great work" he complimented and started gazing out of the black window and focusing on nothing particular but fumbling with the ongoing thoughts in his busy mind, ignoring the light voice of his assistant saying thankyou in return.

Flash back ends

He picked up his phone from the table, dialling the number of his personal assistant.

"Come inside" he cut the call immediately, casually sliding the phone again on glass table.

All night she kept checking every corner of her house to find something useful which she can sell and get money in return. Her mother already used all of her jewelry in paying her school fees.

She tried breaking her piggy money box but no luck to that. She found only few pennies which were barely 100$.

In frustration she pulled on her hair and closed her eyes tightly, trying to escape the bitter reality from her sight. How she will save her?

Losing hope she got up, collecting those few dollars in her hand and stuffing them inside her purse.

Then she went inside the bathroom and took a shower, tired from the sleepless night. She came out after ten minutes and put on her yellow, summer ankle length dress.

Combing her hair, she tied them into a ponytail, letting the bangs cover her forehead. She looked cute just as her mother always told her.

With a heavy heart she picked up her purse and wrecked phone. Tying the laces of her worn sneakers she headed out on her way to hospital.

As she was walking on her way, her wandering eyes discovered a flower shop beside the footpath on which she was walking.

Without a second thought, she flew inside the shop. She knew how much her mother adored the smell of orchids.

The female seller handed her the fresh purple orchids, ensemble in a bouquet.

She took out the dollars from her purse and motioned them towards her, taking the bouquet in return.

She faked a heavy smile plastered on her face, although her eyes were dark and empty.

"Do you know what purple orchids symbolize?" The woman asked her rather interestedly.

"I have no idea" she replied plainly.

"They mean respect, dignity and admiration. If you wanna give them, then give them to somebody you love but respect more" she replied with shining eyes, happiness visible on her face.

"Thankyou I'll come again." She replied meekly not able to contain her control anymore at her words.

She could hear the woman gesturing her goodbye at her back as she rushed out of the shop.

Setting herself free from the act, she let herself breath again in the cold, fresh air of morning. Although nothing could comfort her but it was calming to her nerves. No wonder why people feel relax and healthy after a morning walk.

She reached the bus stand and waited for the bus. After a while the bus arrived and she got in.

It took her almost an hour to reach the hospital. She greeted the nurse in her way as she motioned herself to her mother's ward.

As she entered the glass room, she became the centre of attention of all the doctors as they all averted their heads in her direction, disrupted by the squeaky noise of the closing door.

"Hi" she greeted them all and lightly bowing her head in respect.

"We were waiting for you Miss Ruby, that's great you're right on time" Dr Bhumesh Kumar spoke first.

"I'm here now" she replied lowly.

"Well thankyou for clearing your pending bills and submitting the amount for transplant. We'll soon arrange a donor and might operate on your mother any day soon. We'll analyze her state first and try to make her medically fit before carrying out the incision" the doctor explained rather gladly about the procedure of her patient.

But it dropped like a bomb on her and she felt explosions around her, her ears started to bang and she couldn't hear them anymore.

Who paid it?

The only question kept tickling her mind like a needle. As far as she knew there were no relatives she met in her entire life. The people from her parents side cut off from her parents since they did love marriage, going against their parents.

Her mother never mentioned any humble person to her ever who would suddenly appear and pay for her medical fees.

The question was unanswerable and most unexpected.

She didn't realized when the doctors excused themselves from her and went out of the room.

And she stood there frozen. She didn't know whether to be happy about it but the shock was too unbearable.

She took slow steps towards her mother bed, her face presenting a state of trance. She looked at her mother as reflexively tears started to brim in her eyes.

Mom please wake up, it's too hard to take now" she whispered as she leaned closer to her.

She placed the enchanting smelling orchids on table beside her. As she took her mother's cold hand between her warm ones and feeling the sensation of her yet alive body.

"Open your eyes mom, look at me! I won't be able to live without you, you know it better. I need you" her voice broke as constant lumps form in her throat and she gulped down to overcome her emotional state.

Samantha, still on oxygen supply couldn't hear or see anything. She was unconscious. But Ruby knew how much her mother loved her and that's why she didn't wanted to lose the only person in her life.

After crying her heart out beside her mother's bed, she got up, putting herself together again.

She went straight to the counter for the query.

A woman was sitting at the window counter, chewing a bubble gum rather poorly.

"Miss can you please tell me who cleared bills for the patient name 'Samantha' , admitted from a heart disease" she enquired politely.

"It might take a while" she replied and started working on the computer in front of her.

Ruby stood there, waiting impatiently for the name reveal. She was not expecting anyone because she didn't knew anybody beside her mother. Growing up inside four walls and interacting with the only person she loved, that was her life. She didn't even made friends at school because she seemed to be a introvert and became more affected after her father's death. Only friend she made, Kate in her high school left for abroad to study in the best college. And that was the end, she never had any friends apart from her.

So it must be some outsider, who knew her mother already, she thought.

"It was anonymous, the man didn't told his name but I saw him. He was dressed in a suit like some business tycoon. And when he submitted such a large amount of money which he transferred through his credit card, I was shocked. So he kept relaying in my mind for a while because he was handsome too" she explained to her interestingly, not hesitating to show off that she had a immediate crush on him.

"Okay" Ruby was confused as hell about this hidden man.

How come she don't know him and how can he clear her bills and that too anonymously, why is he not revealing himself like he could have come to me if he wanted to help. She thought and portrayed himself as a good man in her mindset that maybe he didn't wanted to reveal his identity and just wanted to help.
