A sharp slap landed on Vicktor’s left cheek. Lucy flinched, clutching Kelly, who suddenly burst into frightened tears. Amora stood tall in the doorway, her eyes bloodshot, her chest heaving with the emotions that threatened to explode.

“Do you think I’m a woman you can trample on as you please, Vick?!” Amora’s scream echoed through the grand living room.

Vicktor held his cheek, still stunned.

“It’s not like that, Amora. I was only—”

“Shut up!” Amora snapped, pointing a trembling finger at him. “You brought this whore into my house? Right before my eyes?! Have you lost your mind?!”

Lucy tried to speak, her voice shaky. “Amora, please don’t say that in front of Kelly. I’m not a whore, I still have my dignity, Amora!”

Amora’s head whipped toward her, eyes blazing. “That child? A child born of betrayal? And you still dare to talk about dignity?”

Kelly sobbed harder, her small face pressed against Lucy’s stomach.

“That’s enough!” Vicktor roared at Amora, his voice filling the room as he stepped forward to shield Lucy. “You can be angry with me, Amora. But don’t you dare hurt that child. She knows nothing of this.”

Amora laughed bitterly. “You dare defend her in front of me?” She jabbed her finger toward Lucy. “I gave you everything because I chose to love you, Vicktor—not because I had no other choice!”

Vicktor fell silent, his gaze fixed on Amora. There was guilt in his eyes—though only a little.

“All this time I was busy saving your life, Vicktor! I fought for your company. I convinced my father not to fire you when you caused billions in losses! And now? You repay me by bringing another woman into my home?!” Amora’s eyes glistened, holding back tears of pain.

Lucy pulled Kelly aside, feeling the room’s heat rise with every passing second.

“Amora, I’m sorry,” Lucy whispered. “But our relationship has lasted for years. I love him.”

“Silence.” Amora stepped closer until only inches separated her from Lucy’s face. “You truly are a cheap woman!”

“But I can give Vicktor children,” Lucy countered coldly. “I’m beautiful, slim, and sexy. In a house this big… don’t you have mirrors, Amora? Look at yourself—fat, wide, and ugly. You’re not worthy of standing beside Vicktor.”

Smack!

This time the slap landed across Lucy’s face. Kelly screamed, “Mommy!”

Vicktor rushed to steady Lucy as she staggered. “Enough, Amora! I won’t let you hurt them!”

Amora shook her head slowly, her expression turning dark and sinister. The disappointment etched on her face cut deeper than anger. He defended his mistress over her.

“You’ll regret this, Vick. You’ll see the true face of the woman you’ve belittled. I won’t stay silent!”

“Amora, why not try to make peace with the situation? I’ll never take your place. You’re still Vicktor’s legal wife. Kelly and I—” Lucy began, but Amora cut her off sharply.

“You really are insane, Lucy!” Amora spat, shaking her head. She couldn’t comprehend how a woman could willingly be another man’s mistress for life.

“Let’s get a divorce, Mr. Vicktor Caldwell!” Amora declared loudly.

Silence fell. Even Kelly stopped crying, as though she too sensed the dark aura that suddenly filled the living room.

“What do you mean?” Vicktor gasped.

Amora only let out a short, bitter laugh and turned away.

“Lucy, don’t you dare dream of stealing my wealth. You’ll regret this and leave with nothing!”

With graceful yet furious steps, Amora stormed out of the house. Vicktor moved to follow her, but Lucy held him back.

“Let her go. That woman is only bluffing.”

Vicktor shook his head, his eyes fixed on the door Amora had just closed.

“No, Lucy… Amora isn’t bluffing. I’m afraid she’ll run to her father.”

.

Driving her own car, Amora arrived at a five-star hotel. Standing in the bathroom, she stared at herself in the mirror. Her hand gently touched her rounded cheek.

Tears spilled freely. “How could you betray me, Vick? Is it because I’m fat and ugly? Have you always been ashamed of having a wife like me? Is that why you turned to Lucy?” The wound in her heart gaped wide, raw and excruciating.

It had been a week since Amora left the house. She ignored countless calls from Vicktor. Not a single one of his messages had she opened. Amora was calming herself, preparing to take the biggest decision of her life.

She no longer cared about Vicktor and Lucy’s illicit affair. Amora was already planning something far greater—to exact revenge on both of them.

.

Meanwhile, back at Amora’s residence—

Lucy was thoroughly enjoying every facility. She even slept in the master bedroom that once belonged to Amora and Vicktor.

Amora’s absence had turned out to be a blessing for Lucy. She could now freely play the role of Mrs. Caldwell. Especially Kelly, who delighted in swimming every day in the luxurious pool.

This was the life Lucy had always dreamed of—shopping, indulging herself, and lounging around waiting for Vicktor to return from work.

“The air feels so fresh today,” Lucy sighed contentedly, sitting on a poolside chair, raising a delicate glass of orange juice in her hand.

“Who are you, and why are you in my daughter’s house?!”

A deep, commanding voice boomed suddenly.

Lucy jumped, startled, turning to see an older man glaring at her with piercing eyes. She quickly stood, her heart pounding, her face filled with fear.

The man strode toward her quickly, his expression blazing with fury.

“Where is Amora?” demanded Robert Shane—Amora’s father.

The clock had just struck midnight.Silence drifted through every corner of Vicktor’s grand house.Amora stepped out of the guest room with slow, cautious footsteps, as if afraid to wake anyone who might still be up. She descended the stairs and headed to the kitchen, where a single dim yellow light glowed softly. There, she began preparing a cup of warm tea—her hands moving with practised ease, as though she knew every corner of the cupboards and drawers by heart.Naturally. This large house had once been a wedding gift from her father. A house that was no longer in her name because Vicktor had transferred it. The memory pierced for a brief second, but she pushed it away quickly.A soft double throat-clearing sounded behind her.Amora turned.Vicktor stood leaning against the kitchen doorway, a faint smile brushing his lips. “El, what are you doing?” he asked quietly.“I couldn’t sleep,” Amora murmured as she poured the hot water. “So I decided… to make tea.” She glanced over her sho

That night, tension filled the Vicktor household. The air in the living room seemed to hold its breath every time Kelly’s cries echoed through the space. Lucy was still trying to get closer, softening her voice so her daughter wouldn’t be frightened anymore.“Sweetheart, it’s Mommy. Don’t be scared… come here, let Mommy hold you,” Lucy said softly, taking cautious steps toward Kelly, who was hiding in the maid’s arms. But instead of calming down, Kelly grew even more hysterical. Her cries grew louder, making the maid panic.“Madam, please don’t force her. Miss Kelly isn’t stable right now,” the maid said carefully.Lucy shot her a sharp glare. “I’m her mother! What do you know?!” she snapped, her voice rising, laced with pain and fury. The maid lowered her head but still found the courage to speak. “Madam, I’m sorry. It’s Mr. Vicktor’s order—Miss Kelly must not be pushed into another breakdown.”Lucy let out a bitter scoff. “Kelly just needs a little push to remember who her mother is

With a pale face, Jessica staggered into the large house. The afternoon was calm; only the faint sound of the television came from the living room. Her eyes instantly found the young girl sitting leisurely on the sofa, watching her favorite show.“Amora,” Jessica whispered, her voice trembling. She walked closer and, without a second thought, wrapped her daughter in a tight embrace.“Mommy, what’s wrong?” Amora asked in confusion, her brows furrowing at her mother’s strange behavior.“Amora... forgive me,” Jessica murmured.Amora pulled away slightly from the embrace and looked into her mother’s anxious face. “Why are you apologizing? Did you do something wrong?”Jessica exhaled deeply, her eyes turning red. “Everything I’ve done... was all for you, sweetheart. I just hope you can understand.”“What do you mean, Mom? I don’t understand,” Amora asked with a worried tone. She could now clearly see the distress on her mother’s face — the kind that came from someone hiding a heavy secret.

The two men escorted Jessica down the long corridor of the luxurious restaurant. The aroma of expensive wine and roasted meat did nothing to calm her racing heart. The click of her heels against the marble floor echoed faintly with each step. They stopped in front of a gold-carved door that read Private Room. One of the men opened it and gestured for Jessica to enter.Inside, dim lighting cast soft shadows across the elegant room. A large table stood in the center, and behind the high-backed chair facing the window sat a man in a black shirt. His body was hidden by the chair’s tall frame, and only a cowboy-style hat could be seen covering part of his head.Jessica swallowed hard, standing stiffly in the middle of the room. Her gaze locked on the figure behind the chair, filled with dread.“Sir, the target is in front of you,” said one of the bodyguards firmly. Both of them then stood behind Jessica, alert and rigid.Suddenly, a deep, chilling laugh rolled from the man in the chair. Th

Lucy’s footsteps echoed sharply against the marble floor, each strike filled with rage. Her grip tightened around Amora’s wrist as she dragged the woman out of Kelly’s room, not giving her a chance to speak.“Lucy, don’t be rough with Elisha!” Vicktor shouted as he ran after them, his voice deep and urgent. But Lucy didn’t care. Her gaze was fixed solely on Elisha—the woman she believed had crossed the line.“Lucy, let go of my hand,” Amora whispered, trying to pull away, but Lucy’s grasp was too strong. The moment they reached the living room, Lucy shoved Amora hard, making her fall onto the sofa. Her breathing was ragged, her face flushed with fury.“You cheap woman!” Lucy hissed. “Oh, are you dreaming of becoming Mrs. Caldwell, huh?” She smirked mockingly. “My husband may love you, Elisha, but I will never let a woman like you step into my home!”Amora slowly lifted her face, her eyes glistening with tears—pretending to be the helpless one. “Lucy… please don’t misunderstand. Kelly had been hospitalized for five days. The wounds on her body had begun to heal, but her memory still hadn’t fully returned. Every time someone asked her about the events before she lost consciousness, the little girl would fall silent, her eyes empty, as if searching for the missing fragments of her mind.Today, the doctor finally allowed Kelly to go home.“However, please remember,” the doctor said, glancing alternately at Vicktor and Elisha, “do not put any pressure on her. Let her rest. Her memory will return on its own, but if you try to force it, it could only make things worse.”Vicktor nodded slightly. “I understand, Doctor.”Elisha gently stroked Kelly’s head. “Did you hear that, sweetheart? You can go home today.”A small smile appeared on Kelly’s lips. “Can I go home to my mom’s house?” she asked innocently. The question made Vicktor’s chest tighten in an instant. He looked toward Amora, hoping she would help him find the right answer.“Your mom’s just gone away for a l
