EPILOGUE

I open the door after the first ring and pull up a curve smile wide enough to greet Grandma Birdie standing at the doorstep.

"Oh, my little Lily," Grandma Birdie squeezed my face and kissed the side of my face. "After giving birth, you became more beautiful than ever."

"Oh, stop it, Grandma," I blush.

"Congratulations on graduating high school. Here for you and Effie," she hands me a gift bag. "It's something you both desperately need."
