Chapter 11

There was no use in getting angry at such people. Hence, Cecelia cooly replied, “Keep it for yourself!”

Cecelia turned to leave upon saying that, but the woman had other plans as she purposely went closer to Cecelia.

Being so near each other, it was inevitable for there to be body contact. However, Cecelia could have sworn to God that she had not done anything when the woman fell to the ground.

“How dare you push me. Hawick, are you just going to stand there and watch when she hit me?”

Without saying a word, Hawick leaped forward, ready to hit Cecelia. “Tramp! We’ll see who’s going to save you today!”

Due to the fact that Cecelia had offended Patrick Mason and also allowed William to humiliate him the other day, Hawick had a grudge against Cecelia. He had planned to look for an opportunity to exact his revenge on her, and it seemed like the opportunity was now presenting itself to him. Evidently, he was not going to give up such a good opportunity.

Furthermore, he needed to prove himself in front of the cougar.

Cecelia saw the ferociousness in Hawick’s expression and felt like he was no longer someone she knew.

‘He’s indeed someone else compared to the Hawick I knew.’

Seeing the hand that was about to slap her face, Cecelia was reminded of William.

‘If he were around, would he let Hawick hurt me?’

Cecelia did not understand why she would think of William at such a time. He was still considered a stranger to her, yet at that moment, she felt that as long as he were around, she would not need to fear anything.

Unfortunately, William was not around.

Nevertheless, even with him being absent, Cecelia was not a pushover either.

She immediately avoided the slap.

Hawick became even angrier after failing to hit her. “Great, I’ll see what else you’re capable of.”

Hawick could not be bothered about his reputation nor the pedestrians around him as he grabbed Cecelia by her neck.

Hawick never had any true feelings toward Cecelia and had always used her for his self-gain.

When they were in the orphanage, there was a woman who would always visit Cecelia and bring her loads of things that included food. It was the main reason why Hawick initially approached Cecelia.

As they grew up, Hawick noticed that Cecelia had feelings for him and thus decided to play along with her.

Cecelia was quite naive, while Hawick’s acting skills were superb. Silly Cecelia was always prudent with her money and spent her savings on Hawick.

Even in university, it was Cecelia who worked hard and saved up to help Hawick pay his tuition fees.

Cecelia constantl y treated Hawick as family and did not mind doing anything for him. On the other hand, Hawick only saw Cecelia as a pawn, taking advantage of her to the limit.

Cecelia was probably unaware that Hawick was the one that had snatched away her opportunity of being adopted.

There were many things that Cecelia probably did not know of. Nevertheless, one thing was clear to her, and that was, Hawick was very heartless toward her. Otherwise, he would not have strangled her so tightly until she struggled to breathe.

The difference in strength between that of a man and woman was huge. Thus, even after Cecelia had used up all her strength, she still could not release Hawick’s grip on her neck.

Hawick smiled evilly as he watched Cecelia struggle. “Cecelia Shayne, if you start begging, perhaps I could consider being merciful.”

Under Hawick’s gloating expression, Cecelia mouthed out a few words, “In your dreams.”

‘Impossible, I’ll never beg for mercy!’

“Alright. I gave you a chance but you threw it away. So don’t blame me for being ruthless.” With that, Hawick gradually increased the intensity of his grip.

Cecelia’s face had begun turning red from the lack of air, yet she refused to beg. Just when she thought that she was going to be strangled to death by Hawick, a voice rang.

“Let go.”
