Lilly nodded at Luka, feeling a wave of reassurance wash over her at his words. As she walked back to Emma, she could feel Kenny and Axel's eyes following her, their gazes almost tangible on her skin.

"So?" Emma whispered excitedly as Lilly rejoined her. "What happened?"

Lilly took a deep breath, her mind still reeling from the interaction. "We're going to talk after school. In the woods."

Emma's eyes widened. "Ooh, mysterious forest rendezvous. I like it. Want me to cover for you with your parents if you're late getting home?"

Lilly smiled gratefully at her friend. "Thanks, Em. I might take you up on that."

As they gathered their things and headed to their next class, Lilly couldn't help but glance back at Kenny and Axel making their hearts race with excitement.
