It was all quiet. It was like time had stopped. Lin could not hear a thing, she felt so numb as she stared at her best friend lying on the floor of the hotel room.
“Lin! What the hell, Lin!” Robert exclaimed as he rushed to Jane’s aid.
Blood. Thick blood gushed out of Jane’s head and she was unconscious in seconds.
“What are you doing? F*cking help me!” Robert shouted the words as he lifted Jane in his arms, taking her to the door.
Lin inhaled sharply and then was sucked back into reality. It was at that moment that she realized what she had fully done. And how did she feel about it? Well, nothing. She felt nothing.
“Help me and open the door, Lin! Gosh!” Robert was panicking.
Lin swallowed and made her way to the door, expertly dodging the puddle of blood that had formed. She opened the door and followed Robert as he carried her best friend down the hallway and towards the stairs.
In no time, they were out of the hotel and heading to his car. There were a few people that were staring and didn’t mind their business.
Lin was about to get in the car with Robert and Jane when her phone chimed. She glanced at it quickly and saw that it was No User.
‘Don’t get in his car, use your own car,’ The message read.
Robert had already placed Jane in the backseat. She was laid there with care. He was now behind the steering wheel, waiting for his girlfriend so he could head to the hospital.
But she was being so damn slow! “Oh my gosh, Lin!” He complained.
“Uh…” Lin mumbled in response. “I think I will take my car to the hospital. I will meet y’all there.” She closed the door and watched the car pull off without Robert saying anything else to her.
She stood there for a few seconds before her emotions returned. And man…she was hurt. Yes, she may have been impulsive and was kind of regretting why she had hit her best friend in the head, but she was so angry and hurt.
She decided to listen to No User because why not? The unknown person was the one who helped her catch her boyfriend cheating on her. Maybe they were watching out for her.
Lin headed to her car and got in. She started the engine and was on her way in no time. Her heart was pounding in her chest and she could feel a lot of anxiety.
After a few minutes of driving, when she was getting closer to the hospital, her phone made another chime.
She slowed down next to the road and picked it up. It was a message. And yes, it was from her unknown guardian angel.
‘So…let me just say, that was very entertaining! I am very pleased about how you handled that situation! A blow to the head with a champagne bottle? Spectacular!’ The message read.
Lin’s eyebrows furrow in confusion. How? How did this person know all this? It had just happened. And she knew certainly that it was only she, Jane, and her boyfriend who was in the hotel room.
‘Who are you?’ She texted back and bit her lip lightly as she waited for a response.
‘You will know very soon. But for now, I need you to head back home. And I’m not talking about here in the city. Go back to your real home. Your pack needs you. Your legacy is dying,’ The reply came.
That made Lin’s heart drop.
No one in the city knew that she was a she-wolf. She had hidden that part of her very well. And so for the unknown person to be telling her that, it shook her to the core.
“F*ck…” She mumbled to herself as she tried to wrap her head around what was happening.
Her pack.
She had left her pack for almost seven years now and had not looked back. She had come to live in the city with the humans and had started a life for herself.
But now that she was finally happy and enjoying what she had built for herself, it all just came tumbling down.
Lin was the only child of her parents. And guess what? Her father was the Alpha of their pack and her mother was the Luna.
The pack was called the Bloodhound Pack. And according to their tradition, she was supposed to be the next Alpha.
But that was not what she wanted.
That was one of the reasons she left, or should she say, ran away? She was not ready for all that heavy responsibility, nor even was she now.
Plus, she was a female, and a lot of talk was floating around that a female shouldn’t be made alpha, and that even led to a small protest. So yeah, she had to leave.
But to make matters worse, she had turned eighteen and had not even shifted into her wolf yet, nor had she found a mate. It was very frustrating and depressing and she just wanted to escape all the heaviness.
So yeah, that was why she was in the city at the moment; living a happy life. She missed her parents and her pack so much but she was perfectly okay with the decision she had made.
But it was crazy that now someone that she did not know and had not even met was telling her to go back home.
‘Who the hell are you?’ Lin texted back, turning off the engine of the car so she could focus.
‘No User,’ The reply was instant, and it only made Lin more annoyed.
Her grip on the phone tightened as she tried to control the anger that was building up in her. She did not want to go to her pack at all. She just wanted everything to be okay with her boyfriend again.
She wanted it all to go back to the way things were a week ago.
But, you don’t always get what you want, do you?
The peaceful years that followed allowed Lin and Hunter to witness the pack's growth and the positive impact they had on both the mystical and human communities. The once-divergent paths of the supernatural and human realms had merged into a tapestry of coexistence, woven by the strong leadership and unwavering unity Lin and Hunter had cultivated. The pack, now a symbol of harmony and cooperation, expanded its influence, becoming a beacon for other supernatural beings seeking refuge and understanding. Lin and Hunter's home became a place where differences were celebrated, not feared, and alliances were forged, strengthening the bond between the mystical and human worlds.Despite the challenges they faced along the way, Lin and Hunter's connection remained steadfast. The diamond stone, a constant reminder of their shared vision, radiated with an otherworldly glow, symbolizing the strength they drew from one another. Their love had transcended the boundaries of their roles as alphas, in
In the aftermath of the battle, the pack gathered around Lin, their eyes filled with gratitude and trust. The victory had come at a cost, and Lin couldn't shake the feeling that her choices had consequences beyond the supernatural realm. As she turned to address her boyfriend, the pack watched the unfolding scene with a mix of curiosity and concern.Lin's boyfriend stepped forward, his expression a blend of confusion and worry. "Lin, what is all this? I saw... I saw things that I can't explain. Wolves, magic, and that ominous figure. What's happening?"Lin took a deep breath, knowing that explaining her supernatural life to someone outside the pack was a delicate task. "I never meant to keep this from you, but there are things beyond our understanding. The pack and I, we're connected by something more than just friendship. It's a bond that goes beyond the ordinary."Her boyfriend struggled to comprehend the revelation, glancing at the pack, who observed in silence. "Connected? Wolves?
Hunter's mom, the Luna, exchanged a knowing glance with her mate, then turned to Lin with a compassionate expression. "Lin, sometimes the path to redemption is challenging. But if you truly believe that returning willingly is the key to breaking the curse, then we support you."Hunter's dad, though still skeptical, added, "But remember, your actions will determine whether the pack can trust you again. This is your chance to make amends, not just for yourself but for the entire pack."Lin nodded, gratitude in her eyes. "Thank you. I won't let you down."The Reaper, sensing the shift in dynamics, grinned maliciously. "So, the little she-wolf chooses to play hero. Let's see how well you dance to my tune."As Lin walked away with determination, The Reaper's laughter echoed behind her. The pack, unsure of what to make of this development, watched with a mix of hope and anxiety.Back at the pack's home, Lin faced the challenge of regaining the trust she had lost. In a secluded corner of the pack's territory, Lin found herself face-to-face with Hunter's dad and mom, the temporary alpha and Luna. The air was thick with tension as they prepared to discuss Lin's sudden return and the pressing issues that had gripped the pack in her absence.Hunter's dad, his expression a mix of sternness and disappointment, began the conversation with a direct question. "Lin, your return has stirred both intrigue and skepticism. What brings you back, and can we trust that history won't repeat itself?"Lin took a deep breath, acknowledging the gravity of the situation. "I left without explanation, and for that, I'm truly sorry. But I can't stand by while The Reaper's influence grows, and Hunter's fate remains uncertain. I need your help to confront him and unravel the truth."However, before Lin could delve further into her reasons, Hunter's dad interjected with a harsh tone. "This isn't the first time you've abandoned the pack without a word. Leaving abruptly seem
Despite her attempts to find closure, Lin's mind was clouded by an inexplicable haze. As she contemplated reaching out to Hunter, she suddenly remembered that he was placed in the magical jar by The Reaper—a crucial detail she had inexplicably kept forgetting. The revelation added a new layer of urgency and complexity to her quest for resolution. The following day, as the sun painted the sky with hues of dawn, Lin found herself fueled by a newfound determination. Ignoring her CEO boyfriend's well-intentioned advice to rest, she decided to dive back into work, seeking refuge in the familiar rhythms of her professional life. The CEO, concerned for Lin's well-being, urged her to reconsider. "Lin, you need time to heal. Going back to work may not be the best idea right now. Take a moment to breathe and focus on yourself."However, Lin's restlessness overpowered the well-meaning advice. The silence of the house, once stifling, now echoed with a sense of purpose. She yearned for the distrac
As Lin stood before the council, seeking permission to end her quest and return to the human territory, the atmosphere was tense. The Alpha, after a brief deliberation, acknowledged Lin's decision. "Your loyalty lies with the pack, but the path of the quest is not for everyone. You have our permission to return, but be aware that the balance has shifted, and there may be consequences." As Lin left the council gathering, whispers and uncertain glances followed her. The pack members, unsure of the repercussions, couldn't shake the feeling that their destinies had been altered. Unbeknownst to them, The Reaper observed from the shadows, a sinister grin etched on his face. Lin's return had served his purpose, and his influence continued to infiltrate the pack's fate. Meanwhile, Hunter remained trapped in the magical jar, unaware of the council's decision. The ancient inscription on the jar glowed faintly, teasing at the cryptic riddle that held the key to his freedom. The Reaper, having a
