Chapter 40
Alisha felt everything around her empty. The last thing he remembered was the sound of a gun piercing his ears before he fell into total unconsciousness. He tried to clear himself but it was impossible. It was as if his body was floating in the middle of the ocean.
She searched hard through her bond to her partner. Found nothing. It wasn't like he didn't feel it either. It was as if she couldn't get to him. At least the mark was still throbbing on his neck, hinting that he was still alive. But where.
Using all possible effort, he forced himself to move. He stretched it out carefully to feel a cold, rough surface on the bare sole of his foot. He slowly opened his eyes and it took him almost a minute to focus around him.
