Chapter Nine

Cora’s POV

It’s already been an unbearably awful day for me, but somehow it manages to get worse as I leave the hospital.

My phone rings, screen lighting up with an unfamiliar number. I frown as I answer, stepping into my limousine. “Hello?”

“Hello? Ms. White Claw?” A man’s voice crackles through the line. “My name is Cody, I am–was?–am–your father’s personal assistance.”

“Okay.” My eyes narrow. “What’s up?”

“The Black Moon pack has called a press conference just today to state that they’re terminating all partnerships and communications with Pack White Claw–”

I grit my teeth and scowl. Just as I’m about to ask a number of followup questions, Brad’s name and number pop up on the screen.

“I’m sorry, Cody, I’ll have to get back to you,” I apologize, hanging up on the assistance and taking my uncle’s call instead.

“The board of directors wants you to step down immediately,” Brad says as soon as I connect.
