When Ethan and I arrived at the mall, I felt like I had no business touching those items, especially if they had price tags. Yet here I was, weaving through racks of clothes and displays with Ethan following behind me like a confused shadow.

"This is cute, right?" I faintly held up a glittery silver necklace with a tiny moon charm and looked at Ethan.

He blinked at it. "It's a circle."

"It's a moon."

"Still a circle."

I rolled my eyes. "Okay, Mr. Creative. What about this?" I also picked up a pink purse with gold accents and slumped it in front of him.

He stared at it for a moment. "Doesn't she already have one like that?"

I sighed. "You don't even know what she likes.”

"That's why you're here," he replied.

I just rolled my eyes and we kept walking while passing a few gift shops and boutique stalls. I pointed at scented candles, bracelets, and even some fluffy bunny plush. Each time, he either shook his head or looked at me like I just suggested something illegal.
