Elise's POV
"Hey, have you slept at all?" Sammi hands me a small duffle bag. "Here, I brought you some clean clothes," she sits down and grabs my hand. "He's going to be okay," she says trying to comfort me. "I know it's been two days, but the doctors said there are signs of improvement, that's a good thing!"
"I know," I sigh and sit back in the chair. "They moved his mom into her own room this morning."
“He looks a lot like her,” she says and I agree. "I wonder what he is going to say to her, he's always dreamed of finding her." I shift in the chair and toss the clothes into the corner of the room.
"How's Jack?" I ask.
"He's the same. Echo won't leave his side." Sammi says. "My Aunt Sadia and little Ben are back, they arrived here about thirty minutes ago. I just can't believe they are still alive. My dad is still absolutely furious about my uncle Stefan."
We sit there and talk quietly as the whirring of the hospital machines fills the sound in the background.
"Hi girls," my dad comes in and he has Stefan and another girl with him, "can we interrupt for a moment?" he asks and the girl doesn't wait and she rushes to the hospital bed and stares down at him.
"Leo, you better wake up you jerk, you have a lot of explaining to do," she says as she cries over him. I smile when I realize who this is, I've waited a long time to meet her.
"Angie?" I ask and she turns to me and smiles.
"Coffeeshop girl?" she asks wiping tears away as she strides over to me and hugs me, taking me off guard.
"You're his first kiss, you know that?" She says and steps back. "I could see it in his eyes when he told me, love at first sight." She is feisty and full of energy, I like her immediately. "Don't break his heart, I won't stand for it." She says, and I'm one hundred percent sure she means it.
"This is Sammi, and I'm Elise," I say to formally introduce us.
"Angie, you're parents will be arriving here this afternoon. As you know we needed to keep this all somewhat quiet for the time being, but I was hoping that you girls could keep Angie company while she waits," My dad says and of course we agree.
"I was going to go down and get something for breakfast, what can I bring back for you?" Sammi asks me, "I know you won't leave him."
"Coffee and lots of cream and sugar, and maybe a waffle?"
"You got it! Angie, you want to come with me?"
"I could definitely eat," she says and they head out of the room, leaving me with Leo as the machines continue to whir.
Angie's POV
"Sammi, right?" I ask making sure I get her name right, she seems so sweet and everyone has been so nice to me, although I sense a lot of tension when people are around Stefan. "So Stefan is your uncle?"
"He is, we haven't seen him in years though. When my mom found out Sadia was alive she just couldn't believe it," we place our order and are asked if we want it to go. "Wanna eat down here? I'll bring Angie's food up to her when we are done," she suggests and I am all for it. I have a bazillion questions.
"Your uncle saved my life, I can never repay him for that." I say as we take our trays to a table.
"So you were there when he discovered Sadia and Ben were still alive?" she asks and I tell her the whole story, with the exception of where the island is located. Roman made it very clear to me that I must keep it's location a secret, and I plan to keep my promise and keep my mouth shut.
There's a commotion at the lunchroom entrance and when we glance over Sammi gets up and waves them over.
"Come join us guys!" she says.
"Angie, this is Tai and this is Leia," what ever she says next I don't hear. Something has snapped in my brain and I can't take my eyes off of Leia. She's stunning and she's staring a at me like I'm an alien.
"Mate." She growls.
"No. Way." Tai blurts out.
She comes at me with an intensity I have never felt before and she pushes me up against the wall and pulls my hair back and kisses me fiercely and I don't hesitate to return her advance. I've never felt anything like this in my life, it's so primal, and after a few moments we separate and I can't get the embarrassed grin off my face.
"You're mates?" Sammi asks and she is brimming with excitement.
"Leia, you're mated to a human?" The big guy asks and he smiles.
"It would seem so", she says never taking her eyes off me. "We have a lot to talk about." She says and then she looks over at Sammi and smiles.
"Can I steal her for a while?" she asks and I admit I want to spend every minute with her.
"Of course! Wait till I tell Elise about this, she is going to flip." Sammi says and the next thing I know Leia is pulling my hand and dragging me out of the cafeteria and across the grounds.
Elise's POV
I settle back down in the chair beside Leo and suddenly hear a sharp gasp. I see him grip the bed sheets and he mumbles something.
I jump up and yell into the hallway for someone to come, and at first a nurse walks in and she sees him moving in the bed and quickly she presses a button that set's several people in motion in the room and Dr. Mia rushes in only a moment later.
"Leo, can you hear me?" she asks as she pulls a light from overhead down and above Leo.
He groans as he opens his eyes and it takes a moment before he starts to respond to the doctor.
"Leo, do you know where you are?" she asks and he nods and tries to say 'hospital' but his voice is so scratchy that it's barely audible.
"Do you remember what happened?" she asks and again he nods. "Okay, good. I'm going to check a few things and I need you to just stay lying back okay? You were hurt pretty bad and we don't want to tear any stitches."
She thoroughly checks him over and once done she lets me go back to him and I hold his hand up to my cheek and the sparks tingle between us.
"Hi," he says with a sweet smile and those dimples melt me.
"Hi," I say back and tears start to build in my eyes before they slowly slip down my cheeks. "I thought I was going to lose you."
He struggles to get comfortable and I raise the bed up slightly at his request.
"Is everyone okay?" he manages to get out and I let him know that his mom is being taken care of, and that Lucas is okay. Sadly I have to tell him about Jack and he starts to sit up fully.
"I want to see him, where is he?" he asks as he winces while trying to swing his bare feet over the bed.
"He's right next door, Leo you need to rest. You can't get out of bed yet," I say but he is determined.
He disconnects the chords attached to his chest and then follows the tubes that are taped to his hand up to the unit that they are hanging from and he tests the mobility of the IV stand.
"Leo, you're really hurt, you need to lie back down," I try and convince him but he isn't listening.
"I NEED to see him, Elise, I have to..." He says and he manages to stand. When he straightens out I realize that after shifting for the first time he is bigger. He looks even more muscular than before; he looks like an Alpha and I think he may even be bigger than my father. I'm in awe of him.
"Which room?" he asks and I help direct him to Jack. He clumsily walks as he holds on to the wall, ignoring the nurses yelling at him to return to his room.
"Leo!?" Echo is shocked to see him and immediately stands up and tells Leo to sit.
"How is he?" Leo asks and Echo just shakes his head.
"He's not showing any improvement at all," he says somberly.
Dr. Mia comes in and looks at Leo and he smiles at her sweetly, but she immediately bows to him.
"It's okay, you don't have to be sorry, you don't have to call me Alpha either. I'll return to my bed in a few minutes, okay?" Leo says and I look at him curiously. The doctor didn't say anything.
She nods and I see her hover by the desk watching over him from a distance.
"When did she call you Alpha?" I ask and he looks at me a bit confused.
"Just now, when she came in here," he says but she definitely didn't say a word.
"Oh my gosh, she mind linked you," I say and smile.
"What?" he asks and Echo pulls a chair from another room and brings it in so I can sit as well.
"You are part of this pack now, you're actually the Alpha of this pack," I say and Echo smiles.
"Your the King of the southern territories, Leo. It's official," he says but Leo doesn't seem to care much about that right now.
He quiets and looks over Jack.
"None of that helps him," he says and he rests his head against the railing of Jack's bed.
Mike and his other friend walked out of the room to let me get changed in peace, which honestly surprised me coming from Mike! I almost expected him to stay to watch me change, but he thankfully followed the other man outside. I shuddered when I realized he probably would've stayed if the other bandit hadn't been there. I threw on the dress, feeling somewhat uneasy by its tightness, which made the velvety fabric cling onto my feminine curves. I wasn't flat, but I wasn't too curvatious either. I was just average. But still, I didn't like how body-hugging the dress was, not to mention the neckline was showing a little too much skin for my taste. Grimacing as I looked at my reflection in the mirror, I tried to pull at the fabric in an attempt to cover my chest as much as I could, but my cleavage was still apparent."Well..." I half-heartedly mumbled, running my fingers against the soft skirt. "At least, the lower part of the dress is pretty." The skirt was flowy, but thankfully not pu
What did you say about my Dad?!" I exclaimed, immediately joining the two men."That's none of your business, bitch!" Spat Mike, threateningly stepping in front of Anton."As long as it concerns my father, that is." I calmly yet firmly objected. Mike took a few steps toward me, looking down at me. Despite being shorter than him of a few inches, I coldly held his gaze without showing any fear. Honestly, I was way too infuriated and in need of answers about my father to even care about what he'd do or say."Lesson number one, bitch!" Groaned the masked man. "When I tell you something, you don't talk back to me!""Tell me what you were saying about my father." I insisted, apparently unfazed."I told you no talking back, bitch!" Yelled Mike, starting to loose his composure."Oh, you were talking to me?" I defiantly asked, raising my chin slightly. "Well I'm sorry, I didn't understand, I thought you were talking to someone named bitch! My name's Joan." Mike's shoulders shook as he gr
Shit! I just couldn't believe I had miscalculated the height of the building! Now, I was free falling, maybe to my freedom but also maybe to my death! Clawing toward the window sill, I tightly closed my eyes and readied for the hard impact. But nothing came. Instead of feeling my bones breaking in impossible angles against the concrete floor, I felt something warm, large and smooth wrap itself around my hand. Opening my eyes, I saw I wasn't falling anymore. Looking up, I met the dark brown eyes of Anton Carmichael. The latter had managed to slip his arm through the narrow window just in time to catch me."Don't let go, Miss MacCarthy!" He whisper-yelled, his voice sounding almost reassuring in the dark."As if I was going to let go!" I forced myself to tease him back, though I was scared he'd let me fall and break my neck. Actually, even though I considered struggling to break free from his grip for a few seconds, I immediately rejected that idea. Doing that would probably kill me
This is a dangerous game, but I'm gonna win it! That's with that new mantra in mind that I welcomed him inside his room. That bedroom was maybe a cage and I maybe felt like an animal in cage, but I was far to be tamed. Actually, I felt like a lion in its cage, waiting to devour whoever would dare to get inside in the naive perspective of taming it. The black wooden door was pushed open and he emerged from the shadows of the hallway."Crap!" Commented Anton, who blended in perfectly with the obscurity. "It's dark in there!" With that, the criminal switched the light on, a warm light suddenly inoundating the room. My light green eyes squinted at its sudden brightness, but I still could see him standing in the room. He seemed to have recovered from the slap I gave him, but the purple bruise left by my punch was still visible on his sharp cheekbone. His hair was a little bit messier than it was when he last left and he had removed his leather jacket. Aside from it, he wasn't very diffe
Even though I was relieved not to be locked up in a basement anymore, I was still rather unhappy to know he planned to keep me in his room. How was I supposed to escape if he always was around? Passing through his gang would already be enough of a difficult matter, if I had to worry about having him around all the time too, I wasn't close of escaping! Plus, I needed to keep in mind who I was messing with: Anton Carmichael! The uncatchable criminal who was known for his insanity and cruelty. A terrible thought twisted painfully my belly. Maybe I was too enthousiastic when I assumed his room would be any better than a basement! Oh no, I hope he wasn't planning to tie me up to his bed with some ropes and leave me in the dark all day! But being alone in the dark would still be better than..."Miss MacCarthy, this way please." Politely instructed me Anton, taking my hand to gently pull me toward another flat of stairs. I followed him toward the wooden stairs, watching the photos on the
The men who pinned me down after my first attempt to escape stood up and picked me up from the ground, holding my wrists behind my back as if I was handcuffed. They pushed me forward to urge me to start walking and I obeyed, only struggling out of instinct. I would've tried to struggle a little harder if I wasn't knocked down by what I just found out. I had been kidnapped by Anton Carmicheal, the bloodthirsty lunatic who gave almost everyone nightmares. Everyone but me. Of course, having always been raised in a coccoon, I had a peaceful sleep and a carefree lifestyle because I was always convinced I was out of evildoers grip thanks to my father's political reputation and the high-tech alarm installed in our house. "Come on, bitch!" Urged me one of my captors, his cheap beer-scented breath attacking my nostrills. "Keep going!""My name's Joan." I coldly corrected him, thoigh fear made my voice quiet. "Not bitch." I first expected him to punch me, but he didn't for some reason. They
