Chapter 2

Melanie drove as fast as she could and almost ran into a moving black car.

"Watch it you ugly thing!" The driver yelled.

Melanie gasped "how dare he call me ugly?"

The car drove off yelling mire cursed at her.

Melanie did not utter a word, she felt she deserved it since she was the one who was driving recklessly at first.

She shrugged was the driver said to her off her mind but then she wished she had listened to the doctor earlier and relaxed a bit, her hands were shaking nonstop.

"Calm down Melanie, you would get there soon" she said to herself.

Rose had come to the house earlier that morning or maybe slept in the house, Melanie couldn't point a finger at which one Rose did since she couldn't remember what happened last night but she recalled that she followed Rose home this morning to get something from her before driving back home and then to the grocery store hours later.

"I have been driving my ass out all day" she said frowning.

She arrived and parked the car in front of the house, her car exhaust was already smoking hot.

"I just don't understand what is going on with this car" she mumbled in anger.

She alighted from the car and slammed the door loudly.

"Not again..." she cried out when she noticed that her long loose gown was shut along side with the door.

She forced the door open and got her gown out, it looked so rumbled and damaged already.

Melanie scoffed narrowing her eyes in sadness, the heat of the sun was over her face and it made her bruises hurt even more.

She walked straight to the door and knocked on it but slowly it creaked open.

"Huh...?? She left her door open?" Melanie asked in a suprised tone walking into the house, she shut the door behind.

"I can't believe Rose left her door open, doesn't she know how risky it is?" she thought aloud.

She took a quick glance around and noticed how unkept the livingroom was.

Their were clothes and underwear lying around.

"Rose...." she called out.

A warm music was coming from one of the rooms.

"She must be in there playing music like always" Melanie said to herself.

She knew how much Rose would always remind her of her love for music and she played one for her in her car while she drove her home early that morning.

"Rose I...." she said pushing the door to Rose's room open.

Her jaw dropped open and her feet froze.

"What is going on here?" Melanie cried out on seeing Rose in bed with her husband.

Charles!!!" She screamed in anger.

Rose scoffed rolling her eyes while sitting up on the bed.

"It isn't what you're thinking Melanie" Charles screamed on seeing his wife.

He jumped out of the bed forgetting that he was naked.

Melanie shook her head in disbelief glaring at her husband's nakedness then she looked down at her bestfriend.

"Rose how could you? You're supposed to be my bestfriend" she said.

Rose ran her hands through her hair feeling totally irritated by Melanie's word.

"You're supposed to be my best friend" Rose said mimicking Melanie's voice.

Melanie looked disappointed to see her do that and her rage increased.

"Like seriously? I am sick and tired of going through this over and over with you again" Rose yelled.

"I beg your pardon?" Melanie screamed.

"Don't beg my pardon, just get lost!" Rose cried out.

Melanie gaped.

"I get it, the devil is out for me today" Melanie thought feeling totally broken.

She couldn't believe that her husband carelessly left their children all by themselves just to cheat on her with not just any random woman but her bestfriend.

Melanie and Rose have been best of friends right from their days in high school, they had alot in common and loved each other but right now, Melanie couldn't comprehend why she got betrayed.

"Melanie please calm down and allow me explain" Charles said forcing his pants on as fast as he could.

"You don't need to explain anything to her, she deserves it, it isn't the first time and it can never be the last" Rose grabbed Charles hand glaring at Melanie.

Melanie swallowed hard and ran out of the room in tears.

Charles tried running after her.

"Let her go Charles, I need you now!" Rose yelled.

"She is still my wife for goodness sake Rose" Charles said.

Rose chuckled "if only you knew..."

"Knew what?" Charles asked struggling to wear his shoes.

"You speak like you do not know that she cheated on you with one of your groom's men on an early morning just a day to the wedding" Rose screamed in anger.

"I know all of that Rose, but you and I know her mental condition, she didn't remember that she had a fiancé, I was supposed to be there before she wakes up" Charles explained.

Rose burst into laughter.

Charles looked down at her and scoffed.

"Why are you laughing?" He asked.

"You sound like an adult nanny" she answered.

He put on his shirt glaring at her.

Rose stood up grabbing the blanket around her body, she leaned on Charles.

"Ignore her Charles, she would still forget everything by morning" Rose said.

"Didn't you see the blood on her face and hands?" Charles asked.

Rose went quiet.

Without waiting for Rose to answer his question, he ran out of her house and drove off in his car.

Rose hissed sitting back on her bed.

"Now I am left all by myself, must that crazy woman always get in-between my happiness? I am sick and tired of seeing her repeat the sake thing over and over again? I wish she could go mad for good so I could have Charles all to myself" she lifted her legs placing them on a chair close by.

Charles looked very worried as he drove.

"I just wish I didn't fall for Rose's evil tricks again" he thought aloud.

Rose had called him when he was at home with the kids informing him that she was in danger and needed help but when he got there, she seduced him, well... she has always seduced and had her way with him right from when he got married to Melanie.

Melanie drove into the compound like a crazy woman.

She ran into the house crying loudly, her hair was in a total mess as she wouldn't stop running her hands through it.

Without thinking twice she went straight to their bedroom and grabbed some of Charles clothes.

She took them outside and set them on fire.

Melanie fell on her knees screaming on top of her voice.

"Why? Why would he do this to me? He is my husband!" She screamed.

She stood up and ran upstairs to his room to get more of his clothes.

Melanie threw them into the burning fire.

"Damn you Charles! How dare you do this to me!" She yelled in tears.

She watched the clothes burn to ashes and she put off the fire heading inside the house.

Charles had lots of things going through his head, especially for the fact that he left the kids at home alone.

"What was I thinking when I left Romeo and Bianca all by themselves?" He thought feeling guilty for the first time in a long while.

He had noticed the blood on Melanie's face and that made his heart skip a lot.

"What's going on?" He muttered when his car started slowing down.

Charles parked it by the road side as he alighted from the car to check the engine, then he went back to start the car but it wasn't responding.

"Damn you!" He cried out hitting the bonnet over and over again.

He quickly flagged down a cab.

The taxi driver slowed down in front of him.

Charles got in and they zoomed off.

"Can you drive a little more faster?" Charled asked looking very uncomfortable.

"I am sorry sir but this is the normal speed limit" the taxi driver said.

Charles scoffed "I can pay you an extra if you cab drive me to my destination faster."

"Sorry sir but this is the speed limit" the taxi driver responded without taking a glance at him.

Charles hissed covering his face with his hand while he thought about the blood he saw on Melanie's face.

He shook his head and refused to think of the worse.

The only time he ever sees blood on Melanie's face is the moment he hits her or finish hitting her.

He looked away through the window, he could remember the day he had ended up pouring a pocket of hot water on her leg though he regretted his action afterwards but the good thing about it is that Melanie forgot everything about it the next day.

Charles looked ahead and frowned when the taxi stopped in front of the traffic light waiting for it to turn green.

He grabbed his phone from his pocket and tried calling Melanie but she wasn't taking his calls.

"Today might end up being a great mess" he muttered looking very impatient.

The weather was gradually getting dark, it was very easy to tell from mere looking at the sky that it would rain before the end of the day.

He looked behind and noticed a long line up of cars, everywhere looked quite busy and he wondered if the whole car in the city was on the road that day.

The lights turned green.

"Please move, move, I have got no time" Charles said in a shaky tone.

The taxi driver nodded and started the engine of the car.

For a moment he began to wish that he had super powers, he could have either disappeared or flown all the way home.

"Why do I have this feeling that something weird has happened? This isn't going to end well" he thought burying his face in his hands for a while.

Few minutes later, the cab parked in front of his house.

Charles alighted and paid the taxi driver as he hurried into his house.
