Louisa’s POV I was left on the bed, chained and collared. Despised and disfavored. I covered my face and wept silently. How could I be this stupid? Lucian and Leo were the only ones who were trying to help me. But I ruined it just like that. I was in tremendous fear again, having realized that there would be no one in this pack to help me. My stomach started turning and my head was deflated. Maybe a stupid girl like me didn’t deserve to be loved or cherished. Maybe I was just supposed to be chained and locked up, being someone’s subject or a disposable sex toy. Uma told me that I should aim at being a Luna. But if she had spent more time with me, she would have seen how wrong she had been. I was a complete disgrace. A shame. And she died for a foolish girl like me. I just wasn’t wired up for something so sophisticated as vengeance. As I was about to cry myself to sleep, I heard some chaos from outside the tent. "Stay here and wait for your turn." A voice said. I craw
Louisa’s POV Just when I was wondering about how to get out, a young soldier walked into the tent, holding a tray of food. "Beta told me to take this to you. I’ll be back and collect the tray later." He was about to walk away. "Hey," I stopped him, "can you get me out of here? I’ll give you a Shaman’s pearl." The soldier looked at me with sparks in his eyes and asked, "A real pearl?" "Yes," I said, "but you have to get me out of here." The soldier frowned and said, "I don’t know. If Beta found out about this…" "He wouldn’t find out. I just wanted to go out and see the fighting. When the fighting’s over, I’ll be back." "I’ve put a lot of bet on our Gamma. That rogue wouldn’t survive even one round." he said. "So, if you raised the stake up to one pearl, you’ll get a lot more pearls at the end of the fighting. Then, you’ll be rich." He rolled his eyes and thought for a while. "OK," he said, "show me the pearl first and I’ll leave the key accidentally on the floor." I took ou
Louisa’s POV "You just can’t stay away from trouble, can you?" Lucian asked when he pushed me into my tent. "He was badly injured and they still wanted him to fight. It’s not fair! He’ll be killed!" I said. "Why do you care? He’s just a rogue." Lucian said. He saw the dead body of the young soldier in my tent and frowned. "I care because I have a heart! Unlike you!" I shouted. I regretted it straight away. It wasn’t fair to say something like that to him. He had taken so many risks to help me. But sometimes he was like a walking dead… a living corpse to me. I really didn’t know what was underneath his calm and tranquil appearance. "I’m sorry…" I whispered, "I didn’t mean to…" He looked away at the dead soldier. "Did you kill him to get away?" Lucian asked. "He wanted to kill me and take away…" I wanted to "pearls", but I realized I couldn’t afford to tell anyone about the pearls, so I paused. "He wanted to… hurt me." I lowered my head and said. Lucian asked the soldiers
Louisa’s POV The next morning, the pack started moving. I was transferred into the carriage cage again, and the giant black wolf was chained to my carriage. After a whole night of rest, he looked more energetic. His black fur was shining with diamond light under the sun. Alpha Lucas didn’t show up. Maybe he was busy fucking other she wolves, I thought to myself. However, I wasn’t sure about that, because I didn’t feel the infliction like the other day. Lucian came and checked on me from time to time, bringing me food and water. He still refused to talk to me even though I was trying to apologize to him. I felt demotivated and looked out of the barred window. Stretches of villages had been burnt down and ruined, reduced to ashes. Charred corpses and collapsed houses were found everywhere. When the soldiers saw living villagers, they would jump at them and finish them off. Women were raped and slaved, chained one after another in a line. They walked on their bare feet whil
Louisa’s POV I chopped, minced, mixed and stirred, quickly rolled all the ingredients into balls. Then, I put them into boiling water, and then fried them in oil to give them a layer of nice crispy crust. After that, I prepared the garlic sauce, adding cranberries and ground cinnamon powder, so it became sweet and sour at the same time. As I poured the garlic sauce on top of the meatballs, the chef’s compacted facial features unfolded on his face. His saliva was dripping from his mouth while watching the meatballs being put into individual bowls. He took up a bowl and gorged all the meatballs into his mouth. "Wait! It’s too hot!" I tried to stop him, but it was too late. The chef’s face turned red and I could see steam and fire coming out of his eyes and nose. "My Moon Goddess! This is… soooooo delicious!!!" he exclaimed in tears. All the soldiers were drawn by his voice and gathered outside the kitchen tent. I handed out meatballs one bowl after another. When they ate it,
Louisa’s POV The black wolf took me on his back and bolted. He dashed among rocks and branches without any effort. His black mane was like a waving flag in the air. I didn’t know how long we had run before he stopped in a meadow land deep down inside a valley. Beautiful flowers in all colors were scattered among waves of verdant grass. A crystal clear creek was slowly running down from the snow-covered mountain in distance. He crossed his legs and lay down on the grass, so I could climb down his back. I couldn’t walk further because my legs were shaking. I was very excited because of the ride. I fell to the ground and leaned against his belly. I looked up, there wasn’t a single trace of cloud in the endless stretch of cerulean sky. I lifted my arms. The sunlight was pouring down on my face through the gaps in my fingers. I moved my fingers. It looked as if I could catch the light. I looked up at the big black wolf, he was turning his head and looking at me. Then, his g
Louisa’s POV "Are you hurt?" I approached the black wolf and asked in a low voice. There was still the bear’s blood dripping from his mouth. His eyes were burning. I didn’t dare to walk closer. He looked at me and gulped. Then, he shook his head. I looked at the massive carcass of the giant bear. The black wolf turned away. He walked to the river and started to wash off the blood on his snout. I stood behind him and watch the blood diffusing in the water and disappeared. The black wolf looked back and he must have seen the concern on his face. He shook his head, so the water came off his fur. The water splashed on me. I stepped back in a panic, tripped over a stone and fell to the ground. He looked at me and snorted. Then, he walked to me and licked the water on my face. His breath was still of the bitterness of blood. "I’m afraid of you." I lowered my head and said, "Are you going to hurt me?" He stopped licking me. When I looked up at him, I saw a flash of vulnerab
Lucas’ POV Fuck. Here it comes again. My wolf fucked up, I showed up and cleaned up the shit. I shifted into myself. "What the fuck have you done?" I asked my wolf. There was no response. Typical. If passive-aggressive behavior was a fucking competition, my wolf would be the champion of every single match. Just as he had won every single fight in his life. I got impatient. I ripped off the red cobra’s head and threw it on the floor, letting his eyes stare at its own fucking broken neck. Fucking dog. Good for nothing. Can’t even kill a snake properly. I lowered my head and looked down at the girl. There was white foam coming out of her mouth. Her eyes were bleeding. Her arms and legs were twitching. "Are you fucking kidding me?" I asked my wolf, "I let you out for less than a day, and this is what you’ve done?" There was still no response. "I’m talking to you. You fucking idiot." This filthy piece of furry junk has already got on my nerves. "I’ve heard you for the fi
