Chapter 5: The Masquerade Ball

Adeline POV:

It's my 25TH birthday and I'm only excited to be counting down the days to leave this goddess forsaken pack. Ezra has kept me busy doing a few pack obligated assignments. Just from him alone I've racked up 1.5 million.

My party was supposed to be about me but with the increase in with attacks Ezra has called an emergency alpha meeting. So now my party will become all about the Alphas from every pack in the region coming to Blackwood Bay.

I know that it should bother me but honestly I'm just excited that my divorce will be finalized tonight. My dad and I will be leaving the pack tomorrow. We talked the morning after the affair came to light.

He apologized to me and said that he had no idea what was going on between the two of them. My dad explained why he never marked her. He said that he felt like marking her would be replacing the bond he had with my mother. Without the mark he wouldn't have felt the betrayal pains. Miranda always showered in the packhouse so she never smelled of another man.

I didn't blame my father and I wanted him to be rid of this pack too. He didn't deserve to see the woman he chose to be with be paraded around by his alpha. I had my hair done earlier in the day so when it was time for the event all I had to do was unwrap my silk press. I decided to go with my hair straightened instead of my naturally curly look.

My makeup artist has just finished up I chose a soft glam with red matte lips. I slip into my black strapless dress that hugs my body in all the right places and my red louboutin heels. I head into the bathroom and unwrap my hair. Its waist length once straightened and it looks beautiful against my dress. I grab my diamond clutch and my mask that's covered in diamond and rubies.

I head to my car and drive towards the pack house. The party is about to start when I walk inside and head towards Ezra's office. Once I get inside Ezra and Miranda are talking about a wedding. Ezra looks up when he hears me walk inside.

"I am glad you are here. Our divorced has been officially finalized. You are no longer my wife. I have already marked my mate and proposed to her. We are planning to announce it to the pack tomorrow morning." He states firmly.

"That's fine by me since I will be leaving tomorrow. I have done what you have asked even though you didn't deserve my corporation. Now that I am free I'm going to celebrate my birthday and then leave." I say as I turn to leave the office.

"The nerve of that cunt and his whore of a mate!" Sage growls.

"We will be forever rid of them tomorrow Sage. But tonight, we party and celebrate our freedom!" I say back to her happily.

Eriq one of our guards mindlinks me that the party has started and I will be expected downstairs soon. I start to walk towards the staircase when I smell mahogany teakwood scent that has a hint of citrus in it. The scent wraps around me and Sage purrs as she basks in yet. It's starts to get closer when she yells out something I thought I would never hear her say.

"MATE!" Sage yells at me.

I look up and a beautiful man that stands at roughly 6'5 with dirty blonde hair, creamy white skin, muscles that make his suit look like it's restricting them, and beautiful milky brown eyes.

"Take your mask off I would like to see the face of my mate." He tells me in a tone that immediately lets me know that he is an alpha.

"His voice sounds like the blues. Oh goddess I could jump him right now." Sage tells me.

"Well mate are you gonna take off this wonderfully designed mask and show me just how beautiful you are." My mate says to me as I snap back to reality.
