Chapter 4: Alpha Aspen

Aspen POV:

"Alpha did you see the email with the invite to Alpha Ezra's masquerade ball?" my Beta Gabriel asks me.

I sigh before I answer. " Yes I seen the invite. He says that he wants to discuss the witch attacks that has been happening to the packs in this region."

Ezra has been my enemy since grade school. We went through Alpha training together while growing up since our fathers were long time friends. I don't care for him but we would never go to war. Instead we have entered a Cold War. One that has been filled with petty rivalry

"So are we going?" Gabriel asks me with a curious grin on his face. He's been my bestfriend all my life. So he knows all about the beef I have with Ezra.

"Yes. As much as I dislike the man he isn't wrong. We will need to strategize and try to put a stop to whatever the witches have planned." I tell him as I start to get up from my desk.

"Okay it is tomorrow so we will need to leave tonight since it's 10 hours away." My beta tells me as we head towards the door of the pack house.

"Yes I have already packed my things I'm headed to my grandmas cabin to make sure she has everything she needs before we leave." I say as I get into my black F-150 Platinum Truck PowerBoost Full-Hybrid V6.

"Is it okay if I bring my mate?" Gabriel asks me. They met about a year ago and he hasn't wanted to be far away from her if it isn't needed.

"Yes it is a ball so I don't see why not. I will meet you at the airport in 2 hours." I drive off and head towards my grandma cottage.

I am happy that Gabriel met his mate but it does make me envy him just a little. I haven't met my mate. I have a woman that gives me a good fuck whenever I call but that's all she will ever be. The only woman I will ever make Luna will be my fated mate. I may be known as the cruelest alpha in this region but I am a good man. I respect the moon goddess above all.

I arrive at my grandmas cottage it's a nice size cottage and it sits on 20 acres of land. It's a soft blue color with white shutters and a flower arch heading towards the front door. She has a beautiful vegetable garden that sits to the left and takes up a couple acres. To the right she has a flower garden and if you walk the path she has paved around her home you will find her apiary. I have wanted her in the packhouse with me to make sure she is safe at all times but she tells me that a family should always have their own personal home. So I settled for this cottage that is deep within the pack

Before I even get to the door my grandma opens it with the brightest smile on her face. She's a short woman with creamy white skin with long grey hair and brown eyes. My parents died when I was 18 forcing me into my Alpha role over the Hawthorne Bay pack before I wanted it. My grandmother has never missed a beat and I thank her for that.

"Well hello my handsome grandson. I haven't seen you in a couple of weeks. Too busy for your grandmother?" She asks teasingly.

"I'm sorry grandma. I promise that it won't happen again. But I'm coming by to let you know that I will be going to the Blackwood Bay Pack for a meeting with the Alphas." I say to her knowing what her response is going to be.

"Hopefully you will find you mate! I would love for you to have some pups!" She says excitedly.

"Grandma I doubt that will happen. I just wanted to make sure you have everything you need before I go. And I am also leaving a few of my elite warriors back to guard you." I say firmly. Only because I know she is going to contest as she does every time but she is all I have left.

"No sweet boy I am fine I have everything I need here. I promise to take care of your warriors while you are away." She says calmly as she hold my cheek.

"Goodbye grandma I love you." I tell her as I turn and head to my truck.

"I love you too. I just know when you come home you will be coming back with your mate!" She yells at me as I drive off and roll my eyes.
