Rachel looked at herself in the mirror one more time, she was wearing a black suit. Today was the first day with her new boss, and she wasn't sure that they would work together in harmony.
A sigh escaped her lips as she adjusted her skirt that tightly hugged her curves. Rachel Estella tied her chestnut hair in a tight pony tail, she looked at her self one more time in the mirror then grabbed her hand bag and brief case before walking out of her apartment.
It was a two bedroom apartment, with a large living room and a kitchen located on the seventh floor of the apartment building, it wasn't that cheap but it was enough for her and Sam whenever he was around.
Rachel rode the elevator to the underground parking lot, then headed towards her car; she had forty minutes left to get to work or else she would be late.
Sincerely Rachel didn't want to see Fred but she was still going to work, after all it was only because Sir Richard wished it so. It has been close to two years ever since the two of them last met.
Rachel remembered that day like it was yesterday, she was invited by Sir Richard for a dinner party. It was the usual business party where they had met many clients and during that long night she had excused herself to go to the bathroom.
As soon as Rachel had walked in to the women's bathroom, she forced herself to stop when she heard muffled sounds coming from one of the cubicles.
Her breath hitched and disgust flashed through her eyes at the same time as a young man walked out of the third cubicle from the left with a girl following right behind him while adjusting her red dress.
They both stopped when they noticed Rachel standing there by the door, her eyes locked with the young man's grey eyes and his looks made a frown take over as her thoughts drifted to Sir Richard's charming looks.
It wasn't possible to deny that the man in front of her looked exactly like Sir Richard, this young man stood there looking her up and down before his lips curled in to an evil smirk that made her want to reach forward and slap it, but Rachel held herself back.
She sighed softly and turned to the door to walk out of the bathroom, she wasn't interested in staying in that place for another minute.
"Nice ass." as Rachel held the door knob in her hand ready to step out a deep, husky voice sounded right behind her and her face darkened right way.
Displeasure rushed through her veins and she turned her head to look back at the handsome man that was still checking her out. He had a nice face but his hair gave a disorganized look, with grey green eyes and thin red lips. He was clearly handsome but with less brains.
Rachel sent him a beautiful smile which came as a shock to him. "Control your eyes." And with that, she walked out.
When she had walked back to Sir Richard, that same young man came to where they were after a while and that's when she realised that he was actually Sir Richard's son, and ever since that day getting along with him was never in her dictionary.
Rachel sighed as she parked in the company's parking lot, she leaned back in her car seat with a frown. Today was going to be a really long day and Rachel wasn't sure she would be able to pull through. She was starting to regret having given in to Sir Richard's desires, Rachel realised she had a few minutes left and decided to get out of the car with her stuff and head in to the company.
This was first time being at work without that excitement that she always had, Rachel greeted the receptionist at the front desk and then took the elevator.
When she reached her desk, she realised that the meeting she wasn't so interested to attend was still going on. Good enough she had informed Sir Richard so she didn't have to rush over but just sat down at her desk and waited patiently.
It didn't take longer time as she expected before the meeting finally ended. She wasn't expecting it and was lost deep in the files on her table when a shadow appeared in front of her blocking all the light.
She slowly lifted her emerald eyes and frowned when a familiar face came in to view, Rachel sighed and slowly stood up. Grey eyes locked with her emerald ones and a smirk appeared on that handsome face.
Her hands folded in to fists and the urge to wipe it off grew stronger "Good morning Sir." she whispered through gritted teeth and turned to look away.
Fred seemed to be enjoying her despise for him, it had been long since he had last seen her and now she's right in front of him looking more beautiful and mature than before.
To be sincere when his father had just informed him of her presence, he was so surprised. The Rachel Estella he knew would have resigned immediately after knowing that he was coming back, but she was still here.
"Good morning Rachel Estella, long time no see." he replied cheekily, his eyes watching her every move.
The way her emerald eyes stared at him with deep hatred that was trying to be suppressed, she was biting hard on her bottom lip. Rachel immediately sat back down not really interested in whatever Fred was saying; she was afraid that if she looks again and sees that smirk on his face then she will do something that she may regret.
Fred decided not to play with her for now since he still had a lot to handle at the moment, he looked at her one more time and headed towards his father's office.
Rachel sighed out loud, she thought he had more to say and she was ready to throw her sneaky replies at him but he just walked away.
The day moved more quickly and it was more peaceful and a bit more relaxing than Rachel had expected, she had even left work early today as she decided to just go over and visit Sam.
It has been over a month since she had last seen her little brother, her lips curled into a beautiful smile as she sat in her car. Rachel reached over and pulled her hair out of the pony tail, letting it fall down her shoulders in beautiful waves. She turned to the front ready to ignite the engine but caught a certain figure in the rear view mirror.
Leaning back, frustration surged through her veins at a high speed as she realized who it was. She wasn't sure why every time she saw this person, her rationality just rushes out of the window and her hatred makes her not capable of being reasonable.
She sat up and opened the car door slowly and stepped out. She stared at the figure in front of her, the first two buttons of his white shirt were open showing the light skin of his upper shirt, its sleeves folded to the elbows. His dark hair was disorganized as usual, his grey eyes pinned on her while his lips were carved in a thin line. He was leaning on a car right opposite hers with arms locked around his chest.
Rachel's heart skipped for a second then raced off immediately, she lowered her eyes, her long eye lashes trembling make her look more beautiful.
"What do you want Fred?" she asked, her voice hoarse while she looked up at him again not forgetting to think of those reasons as to why she hates him so much.
"You don't look so pleased to see me," he replied, pushing himself off the car and taking large strides until he was standing right in front of her.
"Is there a reason for me to be pleased with your arrival?" Rachel retorted, her gaze cold as she watched the man in front of her. He seemed to have changed much from that man she had met before.
He was giving her another kind of feeling that she had ever felt with him and it felt amazing in a different way which was starting to make her panic.
"My sweet Rachel, have you forgotten our beautiful past?" he whispered, his voice laced with seduction and sweetness that made her cringe internally.
He stretched his arm taking a few strands of her soft hair in his hand pushing them behind her ear. After lowering his hand, he turned to look at her and her nails were digging deep in her palms in a fist. Her face flushed as her green eyes threw daggers his way and his lips curled in to a smirk, if only she could see how beautiful she was in this moment.
He was tempted to leaned forward and capture her full lips with a red nude lipstick in a kiss, but stopped himself and tried to hold it in.
It seemed Rachel noticed this unusual feeling. She watched the way his gaze lingered on her lips for a while, it felt like his world thoughts were swirling right in front of her and Rachel felt herself starting to tremble in anger.
"Next time, Mr. Fred, keep your dirty hands to yourself and try your best to respect yourself." Rachel said through gritted teeth then turned around and headed towards her car closing the door with a loud bang.
Fred chuckled softly, her temper is still the same, he thought to himself.
To say I was shocked when I walked through the kitchen doors would be one heck of an understatement. The chefs were all gone and on the centre counter there was a mouth-watering spread. A burgundy candlestick was centre stage along with a bright red rose."Welcome to our first date, little knight." Axel declared flamboyantly, his arms spreading wide, gesturing at the food.I was so moved I couldn't find the words to refute that this was not a date. Since he made such an effort, it stole the breath from my lungs and the words out of my mouth."Oh Axel, honestly you really don't know how to meet someone halfway, do you? I joked somewhat breathlessly."It all depends on the person in question and whether or not they really want me to meeting them halfway or whether I could take my chances," he chuckled. He stepped around the counted and tugged me towards the food."I don't really know what you like so I thought why not give you multiple options and I can find out this way?""So, it's bas
Five in the space of just over half a month. That was a disastrous statistic. If I didn't pull myself together I probably wouldn't even make it past the middle of the next academic year without the truth being exposed to the entire community. That would mean a year and a half of being known as the Ivashkov princess at the Academy.I shuddered at the thought. That was not a scenario I wanted to become a reality."I got it.""Do you?""I really do, Joey." I sighed and finished off the last bite. "I'll try my best to keep a lower profile. I can't promise anything if threatening stuff gets thrown my way though.""At least be more aware, Kai, that's all we're asking.""I got it." I nodded. "So, what's the plan for us students now?""You have free time to relax in the designated areas until after lunch. For now, most students are either in the dining hall finishing off their breakfast or in their rooms, I suspect.""Alright, I'll just finished the food and go get another coffee before headi
"Excuse me?" I spluttered.I'd expected a dozen other questions to come out of his mouth but definitely not that. I tried to lean back as his hand reached out towards my waist but soon realised my mistake. He'd set himself up perfectly so that I couldn't run away. He basically had me against the wall."Please?"I was startled by the sincerity in his voice. He really wanted my permission for some reason and soon enough I realised the true meaning behind his words. He wasn't really asking if he could touch me. Not in a sensual way. No. He wanted a confirmation of his suspicions the same way that Drew had that time he burst into Martin's office. Our eyes connected when I stared at his face. There was no judgement and no sense of menace. He simply wanted to know. But more than that, he wanted my permission to know. In our current position, he didn't have to ask for my permission. He could've easily pulled my shirt up and seen the Ivashkov mark. His earnest respect for my privacy in turn s
The phone hardly got through the second ring when the line went through."Before you go into some kind of a rant, I need you to take a deep breath, Ali."There was a pause. Then I heard him take the breath. Then he released it. I could almost see the tension leaving his body just a little bit."Better?""A little," he told me. "How are you, little sky? You have no idea how much I wanted to come straight to where you are when I heard about what happened.""Oh? What kept you away?" I asked teasingly, purposefully adding a lilt to my voice. Not that I would have ever expected to wake up to see Ali, but the thought of him being the first face I saw after the situation I'd just faced calmed my anxiousness a lot."Jules threatened to cut an entire year's wage if I took off.""A whole year? That sounds a bit much, even for Aunty Jules.""Well... she started with a week and continued to keep adding until I stopped walking towards the vans."I whistled. "Gosh, it took them a lot to keep you aw
My parents formed a perfect team. Almost anyone who knew them was aware of that. The fact that they were a shadow-kissed pair probably helped with that. But it wasn't just that. I could remember Aunty Jules telling me stories of back when they were in school together and how even back then there seemed to be something that bound the two of them together. Call it fate. Call it chemistry. Whatever it was, it made my parents a fluid fighting duo, never getting in each other's way.I could remember Maria sharing her stories of how the two of them were always just so in synch with one another. They were also amazing parents. They never spoiled me too much. But they weren't unfairly strict with me either. They always seemed to maintain the perfect balance in life. They did what they had to do to protect family. No matter the cost."Raymond, the others need to know. We have to tell them.""Amelie, what are we supposed to say? That the Strigoi who killed you all those years ago wasn't just fr
Once we reached deeper and deeper into the woods, Sarah seemed to be more aware of her surroundings and stopped stumbling around everywhere. Travis and Sarah appeared to work quite well as a pair. Perhaps the fact that they've probably known each other for a few years already helped with their cooperation. Either way, I was glad that she wasn't being difficult. From the way that she had spoken earlier about how it would be a given that I protect her, I was scared that she might be someone really tough to handle, but so far things seemed to be going rather well and we had already managed to obtain three stamps within half an hour. Judging by how difficult everyone made this exercise sound, I would say that getting three stamps within that time slot was normal. We had until dinner time to try and collect all ten. That meant we had another three hours to try and collect the other seven. But it would only get harder as the afternoon wore on. We would grow wearier from each fight against t
