3. New ideas

Kaylynn's POV:

I freshened up and was heading towards the kitchen. That's when I got the message from Dad about a meeting. I was in my shorts and tank top. As there might be Alpha and Luna present, I changed my clothing to more appropriate ones. After all, I am going to be the future Beta, so I should behave responsibly.

Before I could step into the meeting room, I took a sneak peek and found Kade was missing. I hadn't seen him since the morning incident. Maybe I should call him. Then I heard someone from behind,

"Are you looking for your friend??"

As I heard his voice, my heartbeat fastened.

Kay didn't need to turn around to know who it was.

"Yup, where is he??"

Gavin gave an amused smile and said,

"He had a busy day. He has gone to the company to audit the past year's files..."

"How could he manage that work?? I mean, he doesn't know much about auditing. That too, past year's files!! Does it really matter??" Kay asked in confusion.

Even though Gavin kept a calm face, she could notice a small smirk on his lips.

Did he punish Kade like this!! But why??

Before Kay could say something, their talk was interrupted by Amelia.

"Gavin, honey, I missed you. I thought you were in a meeting." she said while hugging and kissing his cheeks. Even if I say he doesn't affect me, a situation like this hurts me so much. It's the mate bond, I know...

'I wanted to kill that b*tch...!!' Maya muttered in my head.

'What about our beloved mate then?? He is also shoving his face into her mouth... Maya, he is truly testing my patience...'

'Let's get inside the meeting room. I think this b*tch is purposefully doing it as if marking her territory. She is insecure, I can see that.'

Without saying anything to the making-out couple, I went inside the meeting room. Alpha Gilbert, Luna Anastasia, my Dad, and Gamma Kevin were also there.

"Good morning, Alpha and Luna... Good morning, Uncle Kevin... and Dad..." I smiled at them.

"Good morning, Kaylynn. Please have a seat. Where are Gavin and Kade?" the Luna asked.

"Umm... Kade went to the company for auditing... Gavin... he is... busy with..."

Kay's words were cut short by Gavin.

"Hey, good morning everyone. Mom, Dad... Amelia is bored there, so she wished to join the meeting." Gavin said in a requesting tone.

"Gavin, you know that this place is for the senior officials of the pack." the Alpha said, while the Luna interfered.

"But honey, Amelia is not a stranger. She is Gavin's mate and she is going to be the future Luna."

While Anastasia was saying this, Kay could feel Gavin watching her thoroughly. She kept a blank face as she didn't want him to know that all these things affected her. Now I know that he had told everyone that she is his true mate, not a chosen one.

After the Luna's request, the Alpha agreed and Amelia stepped inside. She smiled sweetly and then wished them like an innocent girl. What a pretence queen she is!!

Only two seats were left. They were also on my two sides, which were meant for the future Alpha and Gamma. Amelia came along with Gavin, then glared at me as if telling me to change my seat.

"Amelia, you can take Kade's seat..." the Alpha said.

"But... Alpha Gilbert, I would like to sit beside my mate." she suppressed her irritation and said politely.

"It's a meeting about recent security breaches, not some leisure session. I think you may get bored. So if you want to stay, you can take Kade's seat." the Alpha said. With his tone, nobody argued further and they both sat next to me. I could feel her anger as I heard her racing heartbeat.

"As you all know, there have been recent security breaches happening in our territory. So I would like to hear your suggestions to improve our strength..." the Alpha asked.

"Alpha, I would like to suggest that our night patrol must be tightened. And it should be thoroughly supervised as well. We have enough men to protect the borders. But as the rate of attackers is getting high, I suggest you add female warriors as well in night patrolling. And they should be trained well..." I suggested.

"Dad, last night I told you about Amelia's background. Now I will share it with everyone. She is a member of the royal Lycans... So if she is with us, that means we will get the support from the King himself..." Gavin said, and I could hear Amelia heave proudly.

She stood up and said coquettishly,

"Alpha Gerald, I won't mind helping this pack as it is going to be mine soon. Gavin was saying the truth. If I need any help, they will provide... and I think you should consider some strong male warriors for top positions. Otherwise, it could be our weakness in the eyes of enemies."

Even though I sat beside her, I could not get the scent of her Lycan blood from her. There was only a faint smell. That means she is not truly a royal Lycan. But she has some relation with them. And now she is trying to drag me down nicely.

After hearing Amelia, Alpha Gerald asked for other people's opinions. And after hearing all this, he continued,

"As a warrior, I have seen Kaylynn performing brilliantly and she is full of bright ideas too. Amelia, just because of gender, we can't say a person is weak or not. In a pack, Alpha is the heart whereas Luna is his heartbeat. That much importance is given to Luna.

We, the Blue Moon pack, highly appreciate your help. But I think Kaylynn is right. We have the people, resources, and everything. We just need to train them properly. From now onwards, women will also do night patrolling, and they must get proper training for it. This will make these jobs easier and as a pack, it will strengthen us. Good suggestion, Kaylynn. Do you mind if I give you the responsibility of it...??"

Wow...!! Alpha Gerald supported me and trusted me with this important task. I felt proud and said yes immediately. My Dad was proudly smiling at me as well.

"Don't worry, you won't be alone. Kade or Gavin will accompany you with supervision. So the problem is settled for now." he said to me and then turned towards Gavin,

"And Gavin, your twenty-first birthday is nearing. As you found your mate, we will do both a mating and title ceremony on the same day. As she belongs to the royals, we should give them the respect they deserve. I will go personally and invite them..."

"Sure Dad, it can be done as you said," Gavin said with a plastered smile.

I didn't feel like staying there any longer. I knew the meeting was unofficially over, so I excused myself with a call. I went out and called Kade and filled him in on the new developments. As he heard me, he immediately cut the call as he had too much work pending.

I was about to step towards the elevator when I felt someone push me inside, and the elevator was filled with his scent.

"Gavin, what's this??" I asked him.

"I wanted to talk to you...!!" he said with a serious face as he stood opposite me.

"I guess we are talking right now..." I said as a matter of fact. I saw him pausing the elevator and looking at me in an intimidating manner.

"Gavin, what are you doing??" I sneered as he was crossing the limits. I tried to put on the switch, but he caught my hand. I felt sparks erupting all over my body... oh God... it feels so good... I paused and my eyes got locked with his.

"I... Kay, we need to talk about something only we know..." he said while looking into my eyes.

"And what would that be..." I asked even though his scent was hovering in my senses.

Then I saw him leaning closer to my face, but I didn't budge as I didn't want to feel weak in front of him.

His face was so close that his breath was fanning on my lips. My heartbeat was racing like a marathon and I instantly felt flushed. I saw him grinning at my reaction and he said,

"You can deny it, Kay... but your body says the opposite..."

I swallowed hard as I thought of him finding my reactions to his presence. Oh, f*ck!! I cursed in my head.

Thank God, I had shut Maya out before getting into the meeting. Or else she would have made everything worse with her commentary.

I was back to my senses when I heard the ding of the elevator. I went out soon and rushed to my room. I saw Ruby looking at me weirdly as I rushed into my room. After locking the door, I relaxed against it... My heartbeat was still not steady, and my body was restless too... I can argue that his presence doesn't affect me, but my body betrays my will whenever he is near...

He wanted to talk about it. But why!! He had announced that Amelia is his destined mate to everyone. That made the last hope vanish. I am sure he won't accept me over a Lycan. Gavin was always after beauty and power. Through Amelia, he would get both of them. So why would he even think about it!!
