Mikael and I stared at each other, the tension in the air crackling. His question had caught me utterly unawares. I couldn't fathom how he'd discovered that killing myself had become the only way to escape the misery I felt, each time I lost the love of my life.

Upset, he slammed his palm against the wall.

"Damnit, Athena! That wasn't supposed to become a part of you!" He exclaimed and I lowered my gaze.

"I couldn't bear it" I said, my gaze fixed on the ground.

"I couldn't bear the pain of losing you. I just couldn't do it, Altan" I croaked. I felt him approach me and lift my chin, tilting my head backwards a little. Our gazes met and I saw the mind numbing pain in his eyes.

"Altan-"

"Sh!" He whispered, brushing my hair out of my eyes. "If losing me caused you so much pain, I suggest you stayed away from me, because you might lose
