44: Cruel Reality

My eyelids were heavy with exhaustion but I couldn't sleep. I was also painfully well aware of the digits displayed on the digital clock on the nightstand. I had a pounding headache and I was feeling a little nauseous.

Mikael was lying on the bed, asleep and his breathing was strained. I couldn't do anything but watch over him, afraid that if I closed my eyes for a second, I would lose him to the cold hands of death.
