Chapter Ten: A Pick

Eve’s POV 

It was enough that I had to deal with Logan this morning now having Emily be the second person I would be seeing this morning. I was sure it wasn’t my day today. 

This is my home. I wonder what she must be doing here. We just had our wedding yesterday, the least she can do is give us some privacy. 

“To what do we hold your visits Emily?” I caught the chase. I wasn’t in the mood for her games. 

“Good morning to you too Eve.” I resisted rolling my eyes. We didn’t have to pretend to be friends. Plus Logan wasn’t here for her to put up her act. 

“Logan didn’t tell you?” She has that weird look on her face when she fakes her voice. 

“Tell me what?” I spat. 

“We would be working on the DIV project together.” I heard Logan's voice from behind me. 

What? I said in my head. I tried to keep my face calm and not look like a fool in front of Emily. 

Emily would be working on the project with us and he didn’t think of running it by me first. 

We are partners and he might be the with the largest shares but taking decisions without me knowing isn’t good for business or for me especially if that business involves being in the same space with Emily. I can’t tolerate her shadow let alone her presence. 

I had so many questions to ask Logan like.. 

What exactly would she be working on with us?

Or what are the last minute changes in the project that I don’t know about, but I had to hold myself back. 

“Thank you so much for this opportunity Logan and you too Eve.” Emily chips in. 

“You know when I received your message, I wasn't sure how to react but I was sure I would have the best time working with my ex bo…” She paused. I think I’m saying too much. She shyly covers her mouth. 

Her what?

What she about to say her ex boyfriend? 

Did Logan date Emily? This is sure as hell a lot of information for me to handle. 

“I thought since we would be working together, we should all go to the company together, I hope it’s no trouble.” She said slowly with her eyes almost popping out of her face like a cute puppy, but I could see right through her. 

She sure is as hell closer to Logan than I thought. 

“Let’s get to business.” Logan said and with that he left to the packing lot and Emily quickly jumped after him. 

It took me a while to move my legs. I am not ready to embrace whatever was going to happen next. 

I got out of the house and was about to join them in the car, but I ended up finding Emily in the front seat where I am supposed to be sitting next to my husband. 

I gave her a knowing look. 

I didn't want to pick a fight, at least not right now. I have better things to worry about. 

As far as I know, Emily is into the entertainment industry and if she would be working on the project with us, it only means she would be the brand model and our original model must have canceled on us. 

But that was almost impossible Gina Gomez wouldn’t canceled an appointment for the world she is the most dedicate model I have ever met. I think something is up and I am going to find out what it is because as far as I am concerned I am not working with that witch Emily. 

Our drive was rather long and full of Emily trying to have conversations of the past with Logan. I couldn’t wait to get out of that car. The next time she comes to ride with us I am using my own car. 

We got the meeting amongst other board members and Emily was officially signed as the brand ambassador. 

“Eve will show you and tell you what you need to know.” Logan tells Emily. 

I was absent minded through the meeting. I kept thinking about what happened between Logan and I this morning and I know we might not be the best people for each other right now but I still have to try to make it up to him. 

I mean, a few weeks back he was  the sweetest cheesy guy I have ever met. I liked how we bonded and I wasn’t trying to make him hate me more than he already does. 

Something in me thinks he can still forgive me, because honestly I do not want to live my life like this. 

“Eve..” That was Logan's voice.  I was lost for a moment. 

“Yh.. Yes sure I will do that.” I responded to Logan. I didn't realize he was calling out to me. 

This is the first time he is  actually calling my name in a while. 

It’s either he calls me two faced or an arsonist daughter. My name sounded so good in this mouth I wish he would try calling me like that more often. 

“Come on Emily.” I said as I made my way out of the conference room. 

We headed straight down to the shooting arena already designed by the promotion team. 

“This is what you will be working with, and the team will support you in every step of the way.” I handed her a pile of documents to go through later and proceeded with my movement. 

“We will have..” I stopped with my statement when I heard something fall to the ground and I noticed Emily’s heel was not clicking behind me anymore. 

I turned around to see Emily arms crossed on her body and the document lying scatter in the ground. 

“What do you think you’re doing?” I raised a brow. 

“What does it look like I’m doing Eve?” She said slowly. Her face was straight just a few minutes ago, she acted like she was going to give her life to this project so what was the sudden attitude about. 

“You don’t order me around.” She spat. 

So that’s what this is about.
