Diego's POV

“Where are the servants in this house? Get some water quickly,” Luis instructed at the top of his voice.

Why was he even worried about her? She fainted all the time like it was her signature move to escape from something. It's better he left her there by herself then when she's finally tired, she will wake up from her so-called fainting on her own.

I could still hear Luis and the servants' voices. “She has woken up sir,” one servant said. For heaven's sake, couldn't they talk in a low tone?

“Why was my study made to be so close to the stairway?” I asked myself.

I really needed fresh air from Adriana's shenanigans and the house as a whole. I went into my bedroom to get changed into more decent clothes.

As I took off my shirt, I glanced at my injury and was confused on seeing that it was changed to a new dressing.

“This is definitely not how I dressed my wound earlier,” I thought to myself. However,I wasn't in a mood to reason about such a trivial matter so I set aside the

  • Love In The Shadows     DON'T GO THROUGH WITH THE DIVORCE

Adriana's POV The drive home was quiet. Juan was a reassuring presence near me, constantly glancing at the rear view mirror to check if I was okay.My marriage to Diego had been an arranged disaster, a crumbling edifice I had clung to even as it fell apart. It was always in ruins but now, it is dead, destroyed. I had consciously avoided seeing him for months and today, he showed up.When we were settled in the living room of our house, Juan handed me a glass of water to drink.“Don't think about that, Adri,” he said. “I don't want you stressing both yourself and your child.”I gave him the glass back and he placed it on the table that was placed at the centre of the living room. Slowly, I placed my hand on my belly and caressed it gently.“Is it possible for me to divorce Diego?”Luis looked at me, his brows furrowed.I sighed. “I don't want Diego to be part of my child's life. I don't want him to claim my child from me.”Luis held my hand. “Don't think rationally. You need to consi

  • Love In The Shadows    IT'S TOO LATE TO DO ANYTHING

Adriana's POV {Six months later}Six months had passed since I decided to leave Diego and take care of my unborn child alone. My hand instinctively went to the gentle swell of my stomach, a testament to the passage of time, to the new life flourishing within me.It was so evident now, a firm curve beneath the soft fabric of my dress, a vivid reminder of everything that had irrevocably changed.I sat down on the bed in my room, glancing at my protruding stomach. Just then, it kicked. The baby kicked for the sixth time this week.I placed my hand on my stomach, feeling the baby's movements in me.“Adriana, are you ready? Come on, it's time to go.” Juan's voice echoed near my door in the hallway.“I'll be down soon,” I said. Juan was a constant, steady presence, a gentle hand always ready to offer support, a calming voice always there to soothe me if I was in pain. He'd learned my cravings before I even voiced them, anticipated my fatigue and tried to soothe my belly whenever it ached

  • Love In The Shadows    DIEGO'S STEP BROTHER

Diego's POV “When I got married? What happened then?” I asked.“Your father called me to his house that week and…..“Boss, I've found out where they are,” Ignacio entered my office and said.I shot up from my chair and followed Ignacio out the door, heading for the other room. When I got there, he faced his laptop to me, pointing at the screen.“Your father's phone was deactivated but he activated it moments ago,” he said. “The location was pinged to Russia, so I hacked the cams around the streets in Russia and spotted them.“So, where are they staying?” “They are staying in Mr Antoskiv’s place.”I tilted my head, squinting my eyes.“Mr Antiskiv? You mean…. the leader of Antoskiv syndicate?” Luis asked.Ignacio nodded. I stared at the screen, squinting my eyes at the picture of Antoskiv.“Antoskiv, my rival?” “Yes, Diego. He's tried to kill you so many times before,” Luis said.“Why did my father go there? He knows that Antoskiv is our rival.”“He and Miguel has joined hands with A

  • Love In The Shadows    A PREGNANCY STRIP

Diego's POV A soft knock came at my door, then it creaked open. Luis stepped in, his face etched with worry. I glanced at him and looked away, sighing.“Diego,” he called.“Just leave, Luis. Leave me.”Luis hadn't abandoned me, the only one who tried to coax me into the daylight. But I wasn't still alright.“How long do you intend to lie down on the bed, doing nothing?”I heaved.“Come on, Diego,” he said, his voice gentle. “You can't be like this forever.”I grunted, turning my head away. The thought of feigning normalcy was exhausting.“Don't let guilt eat you up. Snap out of it, man.”“Go away. I want to be alone.”“For real, you didn't mean for it to happen,” Luis said. “You were betrayed and deceived by your family.” “Have you found them? Antonio and Miguel?”Luis shook his head. “I haven't. They went under the radar again.”I grunted again, louder than before.“Don't worry. I'll find them within three days.”“Whatever, just leave. I don't want to talk,” I said. There was a bri

  • Love In The Shadows     I AM CARRYING DIEGO'S CHILD

Adriana's POV As I stumbled back, Juan held me from falling. I didn't believe what Miguel said. I didn't want to. It wasn't true.I stared at Diego, expecting him to say something. He stood, glaring at Miguel.“Ask him for yourself. He will tell you if I'm lying or not.”“Diego, what is he saying? Tell us,” Camilia said. I went to closer to Diego. “What is he saying, Diego. I know it's a lie, right?”“It's not a lie, Mrs. If he doesn't want to talk, ask Luis.”I looked at Luis and went to him. “Luis, please what is he saying? Do you know about what he just said? Both Luis and Diego didn't speak. They just looked at me, their eyes filled with regrets.“Just tell me, don't keep shut. I want to know,” I shouted, my voice echoing off the walls.“Diego, what is he saying?” I asked again, holding his hand.Diego looked at me and embraced me. “It was a mistake, Adriana. I didn't mean to do it, it was my fault,” he said. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I pulled myself away from his

  • Love In The Shadows    DIEGO KILLED MY FATHER?

Adriana's POV {One Month Later}I paced about in the living room, rubbing my hands together and constantly glancing towards the staircase. The black slim gown I wore swept the floor as I paced. Today was my father's burial and also the day I finally got to stay beside Diego for a long time.Ever since the night we slept together, Diego had been distant towards me. He barely talked to me or look at me. Whenever he would come home and see me in the living room, he would walk right past me, without a word.Whenever is was time for dinner and he came and saw me there, he would either eat silently or instruct the servant to bring his food to his room; even if he didn't like eating in his room.I glanced towards the stairs again and saw Diego descending. He wore a black suit and fixed his hair neatly. He looked handsome and I couldn't look away.He glanced at me but quickly averted his eyes. “Umm…. Diego, I need to tell you something important,” I said as he was about to leave the house.
