(Song: Tough by Lana Del Rey ft Quavo)
JODI
(A week before Love Isle show)
"Don't tell me you're seriously going to that reality show." My mom asked me when she came into my room.
I was busy packing up to go the airport. I have to be there in the next one hour, so I wouldn't miss my flight to Fiji. I had told my mom before now that I'd be auditioning for Love Isle, she took it as a joke.
"Mom, I've already been selected as one of its contestants. I have to go."
"Oh really?" My mom stood and shot me a withering look, her arms folded. "After, I had warned you not to."
"Mom, I'm so sorry but this is my only chance..."
"Of what exactly?" She cut me off rudely. "To be named the best journalist in the world, right? Why can't you sit your ass down and mind your damn business!"
I let out a deep breath. "Mom, I understand that you're really pissed, but, please, look at this from my own point of view. There's something very fishy about that show. Quite a good number of contestants from past seasons are either drug addicts, only fan models or end up as nothing. I even heard that two died recently."
"And you want to join them?"
"No, I want to expose the sick operations of the show. I also got info from an insider that Edgar King's son was selected. You know that his family is the reason why we're in this state. I intend of putting the Kings' secrets out in the open as well. We derserve justice."
"I'm worried about you, Jodi." My mom's face softened.
"I'm very much aware of that, Mom," I went close to kiss her forehead. "I will be fine. Trust me."
"I've already lost Logan. I don't want to lose you too."
"Mom, I keep saying this. Logan is not dead. He's still out there. I feel he doesn't want to come home or look for us."
"How long is this show going on for?"
"Sixty days."
I hope that's enough time to accomplish my greatest feat yet.
***************
(Day of the show)
My first surprise was seeing my estranged brother as the host of the show. 'Wait, why is he not looking shocked to see me? Doesn't he recognize me, or is he just pretending not to know me?' I thought as I walked to take my seat.
The second surprise, though it wasn't supposed to be surprising because I already got the info first hand. Edgar King's son, Brandon was introduced as the last contestant.
As time went on, as the days passed, I first noticed something off about Brandon's behavior. He was always staring at Belle and anytime, she was with Kyle, he becomes visibly annoyed. I have to find out who Belle is to him.
Belle seemed to be the only person I'd love to connect with in the villa. I don't know, she gives off positive vibes. There was something about her best friend, Samantha. She looks like she's hiding something huge from Belle. And why is she always giving side eyes with Brandon? Guess I have a whole lot to dig into.
First day into the villa, everyone was having a normal conversation in the living area, I noticed. My partner, Richard was laughing with Max, then Max stepped outside with a glass on his hand. All of a sudden, we could hear a crashing sound of shattered glasses. Everyone rushed and couldn't make out what had happened. That alone proved my suspicion about the show.
I was happy I was able to smuggle in some tiny cameras, my flashdrive and laptop. While nobody was looking, I tried my best to stick my tiny cameras on strategic places, where possible dramas were likely to take place.
At the end of the first week, we were all asked to assemble in the living area. It was on the agreement that we the contestants would be able to watch previously aired footage. We can give our suggestions on what we don't like and what we expect for the new week.
Most of the scenes on screen were mostly the dramatic parts. There were some audio cuts and jump edits.
"This was before the main editing though." Someone on the production team said to us.
None of us neither complained or gave a suggestion after the footage ended. Everyone kind of answered in unison that they had no problem with it, which was worrisome to me. I chose not to ask about the edits and other inconsistencies, because I was doing my own personal investigation.
"Belle, I have something to show you." I said to Belle immediately the production team left.
She gave me a long stare. "Is it about this show?" She said finally.
I simply nodded as I took her to one of the bathrooms which had no camera.
"Oh my..." She gasped when I took down my trousers to bring out my laptop.
"Shh!" I signalled her to tone it down.
"How did you get it inside here?" She inquired in a loud whisper.
"I sneaked it in."
"Really? Thought we were all searched before coming in here."
"Not everyone though," Thanks to my insider. I owe him a whole lot. "Let's worry about that later." I plugged in my flashdrive into my laptop. I was able to access the cameras on it. I quickly tapped on a video of Carina and Raine having a conversation in the kitchen.
"How much were you paid to stir up drama?" Raine asked. Her eyes were everywhere, as if she was looking out for them.
"About ten thousand. What about you?" This came from Carina.
"Same amount. Do you think it's too early to start something up?" Raine questioned.
"I feel so. Let's take it to next week." She paused for a moment, checking around to be sure they were alone. "That's it, Raine. Goodnight."
I stopped the video.
"No fucking way." Belle covered her mouth after Carina stepped out of the kitchen on the video.
"See, I told you there's something off about this place. If I had my cameras around the day we heard a loud crash outside, we would have actually seen what really happened."
I was scrolling, then my eyes caught a video of Samantha and Brandon together. Just as I was about tapping on it, someone knocked from outside.
"Who's that?" Belle asked.
"It's Carina. Someone is using the other restroom."
"Can you give us like five minutes?"
"Us? You're two in there."
"Yeah, Jodi needed assistance with her tampon stuff..."
"Ohh, alright. Five minutes then." Carina said as we heard her footsteps retracing.
"Hurry up." Belle whispered to me nervously. I carefully put back my laptop under my sweatshirt before stepping out with Belle. She had her arms around my waist.
"Carina, we are done."
While we walked back to the bedroom, I had something on my mind - What was Samantha and Brandon talking about at that time of the night?
BelleHoneymoon phase was over and it's time to get back to work. Brandon so dealt with me that I thought my pussy would tear beyond repair. I could remember, for almost a full day I couldn't walk properly. Phew, it's good to be back home to my twin boys. Two weeks away for them hasn't been all that even though Brandon and I called them everyday. They were growing up so fast. Now , they could say some words properly. "Mummy, up!" Aaron opened his arms wide. He wanted me to carry him."Aaron, mummy is getting ready for work. I promise to carry you when I come back."Aaron shook his head and insisted.Giving up, I crouched down and carried him. "Have it in your tiny skull that when mummy wants to go to work, she will keep you down."He simply wrapped his hands around me, giggling.I even had to laugh because I don't remember saying anything funny.I was surprised he decided to get off my arms before Brandon came to take me to work."Dillon you look great this morning. Good morning.""
Author's PovWith Julian Crest and the rest of the Project Eden funders behind bars, Jodi could finally breathe. After Belle's wedding, she decided it was time for her to publish her exposé to the world. Being an investigative journalist, this was a huge win for her.She titled her tell all article Love Isle: The Lies Behind The Love."This is sound, Jodi." Jodi's mom praised her after reading her work."Thank you, mom." She chose her mother as her first reader."I'm so proud of you, of what you have become." "Aww, mom, don't make me cry.""My baby." Her mom pulled her into her arms, rocking her.Jodi sent her exposé to different publishing houses, newspaper and magazine companies. It wasn't even up to a week and it went viral. Almost all blogs on the internet carried it. At her work place, she was congratulated and given a higher rank."Hey Jodi, congratulations." Leo acknowledged me as he walked to my direction. What was he doing her though? She asked herself. They were no longer
Belle(A Month Later)I would be saying I do to the love of my life in three days. I can't badly wait.Samantha and I were currently in my living room continuing with our wedding plans."How many guests are you guys planning on having?" Samantha inquired, bringing out her diary from her handbag."It's going to be a really small wedding, Sam. Let's say a total of fifty guests." "Hmmm, your husband to be knows of this.""Yeah, he said he's good with any plans I make.""Alright, girl. Fifty guests it is." She noted down. "About the venue, are you single the beach like your former wedding or...""Nah," I shook my head. "I want something different. A garden perhaps. I want flowers everywhere, something that signifies a new beginning.""Okay, baby. I've got you. I already have a place in mind. Once we are done here, I can take you there. Hopefully, no one has booked there before you."We proceeded to talk about the other stuff concerning the wedding. When Samantha took me to her already pl
Belle The cryptic message that was sent to my phone on her fiancé's birthday, I chose to only show it to Jodi. I knew that telling Brandon about it would get him worked up again. "Someone is watching us, Jo." I said to Jodi as we drove down to the my designer's boutique for our dress fittings. The fashion gala was coming up in four days time."Of course, it's very possible." Jodi responded. "Since Logan was behind bars and we are the people responsible for that, it's normal for his people to have their eyes on us.""You're not scared?" I asked because the way she loo so unperturbed with the whole situation was...well, I gave a shoulder shrug, can't get out the right word now. When I had seen the message, I wasn't myself, to be honest. As it stands, my boys are not safe, Brandon included. Because of that, I had to instruct Cierra not to take them to daycare until further notice behind Brandon's back. Infact, they shouldn't leave the house all together. After I had seen that message,
BELLE This week hasn't been easy on me in a way. Coming from Carina's burial, I haven't been myself for a moment. I still couldn't believe it.Carina, dead? Speaking to her only surviving parent, her mother. The only thing she kept on saying was that she regretted the day she let Carina go for Love Isle. She also said that Carina hasn't been myself since she left the show. She laid curses on Logan and the production team, saying she wasn't satisfied that Logan was prison, still breathing."Take heart, Mrs Watt. I'm so sorry" I rubbed her shoulder. "Stay strong, my dear." I also said to her other daughter, her only daughter now. This was the one who had come in place of Carina during my baby shower."Thank you, Miss Cooper." Carina's sister said."You can call me, Belle."Jodi, Leo and I had gone to pay our condolences, alongside some former Love Isle contestants. It was just a very sad experience.Life can be a fickle thing...but it's well. May Carina's soul rest in perfect peace.A
KYLE(A week before)Currently in the apartment Dillon had offered me to stay in while in California, I got several messages from Jodi.Keeping that apart for a minute, my head still hasn't wrapped around thedaxt that Dillon Cooper has a woman now. When he had told me about his romantic relationship with Allison, I was mouth agape. Dillon who rarely talks to women gets dumbstruck by his sister's attorney. His own shock was unmatched to mine when I told him of my own relationship with Storm.Oh well, life changes, man.Okay, so back to my investigation, I wasted no time in opening Jodi's messages as I put on my glasses. From what I was seeing, they were basically from Logan's potential blackmail empire. She quickly attached that she got it from Clara, Logan's ex wife.Logan Ward was married? That was oh well... I shrugged. Jodi's last message was her asking if I could go to London to get hold of the second to last Project Eden funder with the name Lous Payne.I typed in a yes at once
