I was dubious. “Really?”

"I swear." He retracted his smile and stated solemnly, "I had never considered interfering in this matter because I know you can do it."

He drew me into his arms and hugged me tightly. "You are the most beautiful little flower in the world."

I felt a lump in my throat and almost burst into tears. For the first time in my life, I was crying for another reason other than being sad.

I got the satisfaction of being needed and a positive sense of accomplishment from Kevin that I had never felt before.

"We'll go meet Mr. Efrin once your body is in better shape." He took the tip of my nose. "To be honest, I wish I could be selfish and keep you, but I can't."

Kevin's attitude toward my playing instruments seemed to have always been complicated.

He said that most heavenly musicians died young because they burned their lives away in music, and he wanted me to live until I was old and grey.

I wanted to tell him that I'd rather die than live a long life doing what I love
