“You are my personal assistant,” Ivor said. He killed my hope.

“Is that all?” I heard my sarcastic laughter.

“We've been working together for years,” he said, his eyes not exuding consistency.

He didn't even know what he was talking about, did he?

But I had no interest in patiently seeking answers and I didn't want to be hurt again.

“Lia, I-”

"That's enough. I feel tired, leave me alone,” I said sluggishly.

I went back to my room, sat down in my chair, bored by what was happening.

Ivor always acted as if he was protecting me, but he was overdoing it. And after all, he still saw me as his subordinate.

I shouldn't have kept hoping. I was leaving next month and I would never come back to see him, it was all set.

In the evening, Ivor called me down to dinner.

“I'm sorry,” he said as we walked down the stairs.

I looked at him, not understanding what was going on.

“I was so rude to you this afternoon,” his eyes were sincere. My heart became soft. I wasn't angry with him in the first place,
