Chapter 28

Charles invited Emily and Jason to dinner at the McKennel residence. The parents missed Jason and their daughter-in-law having a meal together and chatting as usual.

Emma herself contacted Emily to invite her daughter-in-law and son in person.

"We hope you will come. Charles asked me and some of the helpers to make a nice meal," Emma said, sounding excited.

Emily didn't have the heart to refuse. However, Jason always came home late, and she wasn't sure if he would go.

"I don't know about Jason; he's been busy with work lately. However, I can come, Mrs. McKennel; you can rest easy. I'll help you make Mr. McKennel's favorite snack." Emily answered her mother-in-law's invitation while flashing a happy smile.

"Oh, no, dear. Charles will nag me if you intervene in this matter. You'll be guests later, so don't touch anything because I've got a whole army of people to help," Emma said with an excited laugh.
