Standing in front of Kitty's room in the hallway, Erebus leaned on one arm against the door frame, gazing at Kitty, who was inside the door now, close enough for him to get a scent from her, but not enough to lean in for a kiss.
"So how are we going to find her?" Kitty was worried about Emma still, though given what they have been doing, she might be safe still for a while.
"Don't worry. We are working on it as we speak." Well, if by "we", he meant Metis.
"Let me know if have got anything?" Kitty asked, adding: "Is it okay to share that with my source?"
"It depends on what we can find. I do worry if there are factors I cannot control in a mission. If we are going to save Emma, I'd prefer to handle it alone." Erebus shook his head to get his mind off a kiss that he could not have right now. There's a life on the line!
"Okay, I'll ask for your permission then..." Kitty looked down, not wanting him to see her eyes.
"You ARE a part of our world now." Erebus was quick on his intuition, especially with Kitty, "It's actually a curse to be a werewolf. Yes we are stronger, but our enemies are stronger too, maybe even more so. We have to hide ourselves all the time, and--" Erebus paused.
"And what?" Kitty looked up, curious.
"And one day every month, we have to go out into the forest and stay there till dawn, because we cannot maintain our human form on a full moon night." Erebus blinked at her with a naughty smile.
"Is that true? Are you just teasing me?" Kitty was surprised for a second, and then got suspicious when she saw the mischief on his face.
"Haha, it's true, I would swear on that." Erebus held up three fingers as if taking an oath, "You can come to see next time, if you want to."
"I want to!" Kitty answered with a haste.
"Okay, little kitten. But some rest for you, for now. You can relax, you are safe here in the hotel." Erebus stood up straight and put a hand on her head.
He'll get a kiss, some day.
"Really? Cause I got the note here." Kitty said with hesitation. She didn't want anyone to get in trouble.
"What note?" Erebus frowned.
"The note asking me to go to the art museum on -- Oh my God! My shift!" Kitty gasped, just remembering she still had a job to maintain.
"It's okay, I'll talk to the owner." Erebus didn't seem to care about it even a bit, "Let me see the note."
"It's here... somewhere..." Kitty turned to cabinet by the door and the note was nowhere to be found.
"It's missing?" Erebus was instantly on the alert, "Sorry but I need to get in."
"Yeah, go ahead." Kitty stepped aside, and then she realized what Erebus meant by get in--
He shifted.
The room looked so small when a huge wolf nearly 7 inches tall with fluffy furs standing in the center sniffing around, literally.
"Someone was here." Erebus shifted back and pulled out his phone, "Iapetus, I want a list of who have been coming in Kitty's room today. Someone came in uninvited."
He hung up after only a second, and Kitty could guess the other side only got to say "Yes, my Lord".
"Maybe it was just stuff cleaning." Kitty suggested.
"It's unlikely for a stuff to clean a note on your table. It normally wouldn't be treated as garbage." Erebus shook his head with a dark, sullen face.
"Why would someone want that note though? What's done is done." Kitty asked, couldn't imagine someone would need that note, "If I die, why would they still need that note? To clear their trace? Wouldn't it be clear who sent it?"
"Which means, whoever took the note, or maybe even sent it here, is not with Perses." Erebus nodded in agreement, and took out his phone again but put it back next second.
"I have something to attend to. Your room should be safe, though I need to make sure of that too. Stay in your room for now, I'll be back. Okay?" Erebus turned to Kitty with a serious look.
"Okay." Kitty nodded quickly. She could see he was on alert and she didn't want to rise a fuss now.
Sitting by the French window, Kitty fell in deep thoughts.
Trouble seems to find her even if she wants to avoid them. She understood why Erebus was so nervous -- this hotel was supposed to be safe, and an intrusion into her lobby obviously doesn't fall into the catalogue of "safe".
Though he was nervous, Kitty didn't really feel scared. She felt safe. She had been feeling that ever since she threw herself in his arms. She hadn't been feeling so calm and happy in a very long time. She KNEW, she would be safe here.
He would make sure of that.
She loved feeling so close to him, loved the fact that she didn't have to push him away. What did he say? "I'll never leave you. That's a promise." Her heart still speeds up even just thinking about his words, said in the deep, rough voice.
It was prettier than any music that had met her ears.
There was so much trouble and mysteries to worry about, and Kitty drifted away thinking only about Erebus...
"Should I fire him?" Iapetus stood behind the desk in the office on the 19th floor, and Erebus was standing by the window.
"No, don't alert him just yet. We don't want him to know we are onto him." Erebus shook his head.
"We HAVE checked him out when we hired him as Kitty's teacher. He was clean." Iapetus said with a sullen tone. He was NOT happy that he failed his responsibility of keeping Kitty safe.
"It's okay. You tried your best. But look into him, I want to know everything about him." Erebus comforted him.
"Yes, my Lord." Iapetus bowed.
"What about the village? Have you found anything unusual?" Erebus picked up a glass and poured him some neat gin.
"There is no record of Kitty moving there, but she did catch some people's attention. 'The infamous orphan' they call her, or rather, the people from the church called her that. Seemed like she rose a fuss about not being a part of the church, and would rather live on the street by herself." Iapetus reported.
"She was that obvious there?" Erebus rose an eyebrow.
"Ohh, no. I just thought that's what you'd be interested in." Iapetus paused a bit, for the first time he appeared to be a bit surprised.
"Haha..." Erebus laughed, "I seem to remember I gave you that mission before I met her."
"Errr, yes. There are other things about it as well." Iapetus quickly adjusted himself, "well, maybe one thing, and the only thing special about that village."
"Hmm?" Erebus got interested and look up.
"Roughly a month ago, there was a star fell into the village. The whole village was lit blue, as if a huge sapphire burst into millions of pieces." Iapetus said, "Might be the most special thing that happened to that village ever."
"You are kidding me, right? Not to mention there wasn't any trace of a star hitting the village, there would definitely be news--" Erebus was so surprised he waved his hand forgetting that he was holding a drink, which spilled all over the table.
"There is more to it." Iapetus gave him a forgiving smile and started wiping the table with a tissue, "Later that night, another star dropped there too, a red one, only minutes apart."
"Stars." Erebus drank all the gin that was still left in his glass, "They were spells, right?"
"No one knows. At lease no one in the village knew." Iapetus nodded, "I think that's why--"
"That's why they have to die." Erebus took over his sentence.
"My Lord." Iapetus called out to Erebus when he put down the glass and prepared to leave, "There is one more thing you should know.""Speak." Erebus stopped and turn to look at Iapetus."Themis, she found out that Kitty is registered under a couple that died a month ago, and their names are--" Iapetus started with a as cool as possible tone, and Erebus still got upset and cut him off."Are not the same as what she told us, I'm already aware." He frowned. He didn't li
Erebus was woken by the time Kitty went into the shower. He lied his head on his arms and fell back to sleep. He didn't move or even open his eyes when Kitty opened her bedroom door, just curling there on the floor. It WAS a long night and he fell asleep late, but it was because that he wanted to know Kitty's reaction to his wolf form that he lied there, waiting.Kitty didn't try to wake him up, thinking he was exhausted and needed some rest. So she just stood there staring at him for a while.
"Curtis?!" Kitty gasped and the next second--"Ahh!!!" Kitty yelled and ran back into her bedroom."May I come in?" Curtis's voice came through the door with obvious laughter hiding with in."No, you may not!" Kitty yelled as she went around looking for her clothes."But the door is open, and there seems to be a delicious--" Curtis pr
"What are you talking about?" Curtis grinned at Erebus, not admitting anything."I'm talking about the werewolf prince who, at my best effort, hid his trace so well that I only found out he went to Paris, nothing more." Erebus said lazily, his blue eyes locked on Curtis, watching his reaction."That's further than anyone else could get already, don't beat yourself up." Curtis laughed which only irritate Erebus more.Erebus: "..."
"Iapetus, the maid appointed to Kitty's room, Sylvia? Get her to the office, now!" Erebus yelled to the phone as he headed to the elevator."Right away." Iapetus's calm voice came through the phone before Erebus hung it up."Good luck on a FUN interrogation day! I think I might just get myself a date!" Curtis yelled at Erebus as the door of the elevator closed slowly, and satisfied with the murderous look on Erebus's face.Curtis pulled his phone after the elevator w
"I'm sorry. My deepest apologies, I'm really sorry..." With an apologizing smile, Erebus stood in front of Kitty's room with his palms together, begging for her forgiveness."Hmph." Kitty stood there with her arms up in front of her chest, not answering."I got caught up with an emergency. I'm really sorry I kept you waiting." Erebus lowered his body to try to look Kitty in the eyes, "Pleaseee forgive me?""We said 'after breakfast'. I guess 6pm in the afternoon tech
"Hmm?" Erebus took the plate and returned to her side, "What's wrong?""Nothing. Where do you want to eat?" Kitty quickly wiped the confusion on her face and asked."Somewhere near the sea, hopefully. How about the rock over there?" Erebus looked around and hinted Kitty with his head."Cool." Kitty skipped a few steps to catch up with him.
It took them only half of the time when they went there to get back to the bar. Kitty thought she was nervous and a bit excited, but the stress was much more tightened as she felt Erebus hitting on the gas."Metis, talk to me." Erebus asked as then stepped in the bar."Some of Perses men got into the city right after you left for the village that day." Metis came to Erebus and started walking with his as she spoke, "From what we know now, they came FROM the village.""They took something from there?" Erebus rose an eyebrow."More like someone." Metis nodded."Emma!" Kitty gasped."We think so. And we think she's the only survivor, except Kitty, now it seems, which is why they had been hell bent on Killing Kitty." Metis said."Not really." Kitty said in deep thoughts."What do you mean?" Erebus asked."They could have killed me right where they found me, the first time AND the second. They were trying to kill me only because the order was to wipe out the city, I feel. I didn't feel like
