Chapter 5 Salvation before the storm

The castle was in an uproar as everyone search ever nook and cranny for Olivia. It was almost dawn and Mrs. McGill went to light the fire in room. When she realized that Olivia was gone.

After looking in Finely room Mrs. McGill had an uneasy feeling. She looked everywhere she could think of. Hesitantly she went and woke Master Alexander.

“Master Alexander!” She nudges his shoulder “Master Alexander wake up.“ Alexander groggily opened his eyes with a slight pain to his head. “What is it? “ he said “Is something wrong?”

.

“Sir Olivia is missing. I can’t find her.” Alexander swiftly sat up in the bed.

“What do you mean missing?” Getting up out of the bed. His feet hit the stone floor.

“I have looked everywhere I could think of and I can not find her. Her bed has not been slept in.” She said with fear in her eyes.

Alexander stormed out and called to Edward. The man appeared almost instantly “Get the men together. Olivia is missing. Search the castle and the grounds quickly.”

Edward swiftly disappeared. After an hour of searching they had no sight of her. They gathered their horses and prepared a search party. As they were about to leave they saw a figure astride a horse with another horse behind it coming at a decent pace. As it got closer they could see it was two people on the one horse. He saw Olivia quarter horse and knew she had been found.

Alexander ran forward as he saw that it Johnathan Campbell with his daughter in his arms. Quickly taking her from his embrace. Johnathan said “Get the Healer. Sir she has ran a fever all night. I saw her disappear into the night and I followed her. I found her in a cave to the west. She was trashing around already in the fits of the fever. “

“ Come laddie, we will get ye some dry clothes and something to eat.” Alexander said swiftly.

Mrs. McGill escorted the young man in and sent one of the maids for Mrs. McRae to see to Olivia.

After sometime Johnathan came to Olivia’s room. The healer had seen to her. He walked in and he just looked at her sleeping face. She was all flushed from fever. She seemed to have some trouble breathing and coughed.

As he road with her in his arms last night he thought back to all the theatrics and craziness around her infatuation with him. He had found her so annoying. In that moment last night he realized even with her craziness he cared about her. He did not want anything to happen to her.

She would be going alway soon to France. She was so immature and acted out so terribly. Her aunt would take good care of her.

“She will get through this son. Thanks to you.” John Campbell said as he walked up behind his son.

Alexander walked up as well “I owe you a debt young man. If you had not seen her and followed her we wouldn’t have known where to look for her. She well may have died before she was found.”

Alexander looked on in appreciation. “If there is anything you need or that I can do for you; you need to just say the word.” Alexander bowed to Johnathan in genuine gratitude.

Alexander walked around the bed and took his daughters hand. Bowing his head he prayed over her asking God to heal her.” Lord give me strength. Father bless the young man that saved her. Janet I know you are looking down. Petition the Lord to give Olivia calmness of spirit……” There was about 9 days till Brielle would get here and we will get her well he thought to himself.

Her fever persisted the rest of the day and it broke over in the morning the next day. When she woke she saw she was in her bed and her father was asleep in a chair. She looked at his face and could see the worry even in his sleep.

The healer looked on with her green eyes a keen as if she could read her mind. “You young lady are very luck that young Mr. Campbell found you out in the cold dark night.”

“What? Which Mr. Campbell? “ she questioned anxiously.

“Johnathan Campbell that’s who.”

“Olivia Macdonald if you ever do that again I will beat you senseless. You almost killed yourself.” Alexander said to her scarring her half to death as she thought he was still asleep.

A shiver went through her because she knew he meant well what he said. Even more bewildering was the fact that Johnathan saved her and she didn’t remember a thing.

Over the time it took for her aunt to arrive she recovered from her illness and her father forbid her from leaving the house at all. Her frustration was evident. She took to her room.
