Cameron nodded.

Before leaving, the two of them even shared a passionate kiss right in front of me, and only then did he walk out.

"They were just drafts. Try to see if you can recover them. If not, then let it go. They aren’t anything important. Stay at home. Cancel the lease on that place. You're not going back."

"I'm going out to eat with Cameron. I’ll bring whatever you want back for you."

Zoey instructed me calmly and then stepped forward, ready to leave.

I couldn't believe this was the way she chose to handle the situation.

I stopped her, my chest feeling as though a huge stone were wedged inside, making it hard to breathe.

"Cameron obviously stole my drafts—why won’t you believe me? You clearly know this was his fault—this time, the last time, and the time before! Those are my work. What right do you have to decide if it's important or not?"

Faced with my suffocated, aggrieved questioning, Zoey still remained calm.
