KAREN’S POV

Xavier didn’t speak at first. He just stood there by the window, his massive frame tense, staring at the darkening sky like it held all the answers. The study smelled like old books and the coming storm, heavy with things neither of us wanted to say out loud.

When he finally turned to me, his dark eyes weren’t just tired—they were haunted. The kind of worry that sinks deep into a person’s bones and stays there.

"My brother being back... it changes everything," he said, his voice rough like he’d been shouting for hours.

A chill ran down my spine. Silas. Just thinking his name made my heart skip.

Xavier clenched his fists, the muscles in his arms standing out sharply. "He’s dangerous, Karen. More than you realize." His voice dropped to a growl. "I’ve kept this from the pack—even from my own kids—because I thought we had more time. But now..."

He let out a heavy breath, his shoulders sagging like the weight of the world was crushing him. "I need my Lycan back. I need to be st

KAREN’S POVThe warm water had barely stopped running when I felt Jackson tug at my wrist. I looked up from the sink just in time to see the playful grin tugging at his lips.“Hey, where are we going?” I laughed, drying my hands on the towel hanging by the counter. He didn’t slow down. “Home,” he said simply, as if that explained everything.I raised a brow. “You mean your house?”“Our house, Karen. Did you forget already?” he corrected without missing a beat, throwing me a look over his shoulder. “Now come on before Liam starts getting ideas.”Just as we reached the front door, Liam’s voice echoed behind us. “Easy there, Jackson! Go easy on my sister-in-law, will you?”Jackson glanced back, groaning in mock irritation. “Mind your business, nosy!” he called out, shooting his brother a glare that had no real heat in it.I couldn’t stop giggling as he scooped me up like I weighed nothing. “Jackson!” I squealed.“What?” he said, pressing a kiss to my cheek as he carried me across the yar

HANNAH’S POVThe moment I saw that car pull into the driveway, my heart almost stopped. I had been standing outside for nearly twenty minutes, arms folded tightly across my chest, trying to act like I wasn’t about to fall apart from the nerves. I knew they were coming. I knew they were safe. But it wasn’t real—not really—until I saw them with my own eyes. When the doors opened and I saw my children step out, it was like the air rushed back into my lungs. Jackson. Liam. Laila. My babies. My husband. Back and safe. I didn’t wait. I couldn’t.I ran straight for them, pulling all three into my arms, clutching them so hard I was afraid I might hurt them—but I didn’t care. I needed to feel them. Needed to make sure they were really there, breathing and warm and whole. The moment we stepped inside, the warm scent of roasted lamb, spiced stew, and freshly baked bread wrapped around us like a soft blanket. The dining table was already set—plates, cutlery, pitchers of juice and wine, and enough

LAILA’S POVThe pack house shrank in the side mirror, its towering silhouette dissolving into the distance as the car carried us farther away. I kept my eyes on the mirror until the pack house grew too small to see—not even a shadow remained. Alex stood where we’d left him, hand raised in farewell. I didn’t look away until he vanished from sight.I sat back, folded my arms across my chest, and let out a quiet breath. My chest felt tight, like I’d left a part of me behind. Maybe I had.“Are you okay?” Jackson asked from the front seat. His voice was casual, but I knew he was watching me through the rearview mirror.I gave a soft shrug. “Yeah. Just… tired, I guess.”Karen reached over and squeezed my hand. “You were amazing back there. He needed you. You gave him the strength to stand.”I didn’t respond right away. My throat felt thick. I glanced at Karen, then out the window again. Trees blurred past as the sun climbed higher, spreading gold across the horizon—making everything look wa

ALEX’S POVThe golden warmth of the morning sun spilled across my skin, coaxing me awake. For a blissful second, I lingered in that hazy space between sleep and consciousness, the scent of dew-kissed grass and distant pine filling my lungs. Then reality crashed in.My eyes flew open, darting to the empty space beside me.Laila.A fist of panic slammed into my chest, stealing my breath. Had she left? Without a word? Without letting me memorize her face one last time?“Laila?” My voice came out rough, sleep still clinging to the edges. I pushed myself up too fast, and fire lanced through my ribs—a brutal reminder of the fight. I gritted my teeth, but the pain didn’t matter. Only she did. Then I saw her. There, framed by the sunrise, she stood by the window. The light painted her in gold, catching the soft waves of her hair, the curve of her shoulders. She looked like something out of a dream—one I never wanted to wake from.Relief flooded me, so fierce it made my throat tight. She turne

KAREN’S POVThe room was bathed in soft light, the kind that softened edges and made the world feel hushed, like it was holding its breath. I lay curled beneath the thick blanket, the weight of Jackson’s arm wrapped over me, his chest pressed warm against my back. His breath was slow and steady against the nape of my neck, a rhythm I had memorized by now—each exhale a quiet reassurance that he was here, that we were safe. The window was cracked open just enough to let in the scent of damp earth and pine, the aftermath of an evening rain. The air was cool, almost crisp, carrying with it the faintest whisper of the forest beyond. It was the kind of quiet I had only ever known in Shadow Moon—deep and unbroken, the kind that settled into your bones. But here, in Blue Cross Pack territory, it felt different. Fragile. Like it could shatter if I breathed too loudly.I turned my head slightly, taking in the room around us. The bed was small, the mattress lumpy beneath us, the sheets thin from

LAILA’S POVI watched Alex carefully, the light in his eyes softer now, clearer. It was hard to believe this was the same man I met months ago—bruised by his father’s cruelty, caged by fear and duty. Back then, he was a man shackled by shadows. Now… he stood tall, even if slightly swaying from exhaustion and bruises, a leader reborn.I was proud of him. Immensely proud. The strength it took to stand up to his father, to break free of that dark legacy—not everyone could do it. But he did. And he did it not for glory or revenge, but for his people. For a better future. He caught me watching him and gave a tired smile. “Would you… like to come inside?”I hesitated—not because I didn’t want to, but because I knew I had to ask first.Even though he was my mate, even though our bond was real and deep, I was still a minor in our world. And rules were rules. I looked to my father and Jackson.Jackson met my gaze, understanding and trust in his eyes. He gave a short nod. My father—Alpha Xavier
