Chapter 6

Hannah's POV

No matter how hard I try to forget him, it will never happen, will it?

I sighed, thinking of some excuse. " I will get you another doctor." I turned to open the curtains but fingers wrapped around my wrist.

" Wait, I want to talk to you." He asked, slightly tugging me towards him. " I am sorry but I am busy," I replied, pulling my wrist from him.

Before I knew it, I was turned around by my shoulders as I stumbled. He started to take small steps towards me.

" Please maintain your distance, Mr. Young. This is a hospital. If that is all, I have work to do." I replied and rushed out of the enclosed area.

I walked back to the elevator and clicked on the number seven. The moment it stopped, I walked off it and back to the counter.

I checked the nurse if I had any surgeries. She shook her head, my head dipping slightly low.

I will just take a look at the patients then.

" I really owe you, Joseph. You take the trouble of sending me home quite regularly." I stated, leaning against the elevator wall.

" Tell me how I can return the favor? I don't like being in debts." I pouted. Joseph laughed, ruffling my hair slightly.

" Just stay the way you are. Don't change and you will not be in debts." Joseph replied, his relaxed face changing to a serious one.

" Sir, yes Sir!" I saluted him. I held the pose for a while before getting into fits of laughter. Joseph soon followed behind. The elevator doors opened as we stepped out.

We walked towards the parking lots, cracking a few jokes here and there. Joseph unlocked the car and I got in.

It was a thirty-minute drive to my miniature flat. Halfway listening to Joseph ranting, I fell asleep in exhaustion.

The car pulled to a stop as I blinked my eyes open. " Joseph, thank you very much. If you need favors just ask ok?" I confirmed with him.

" You don't have to live here. You can move in with me. Or rent a nicer flat. You could even book a hotel room. I don't see why you have to live here." Joseph complained.

" I don't have money, Joseph. I left the other card in his mansion." I replied, gently rubbing my eyes. His hand enveloped mine as he held his gaze in mine.

" I think you deserve to know why I don't let you touch me much." I started, piquing his interest. His hand shifted away from mine as he nodded urging me to continue.

" I've got Androphobia, Joseph. I am scared of men, especially taller men. That is why I don't let you touch me much." I confessed.

Joseph's face was void of any emotion. " Oh," he muttered, his eyes wide.

" I will give you space if you need it. After such a secret, you might want to think." I assured him, unbuckling the seat belt.

" No, no. I was thinking that you should see a psychologist, maybe. I can be with you during the sessions." He suggested a smile on his face.

" Gossip will be spread by the nurses if they catch me near the psychologist." I refused.

" I am really sorry for the times I made you uncomfortable. I should have kept the space between us. I'm sorry." He pouted.

I smiled at him. " Hey, there is no need to apologize. Can you just get me the number of the bartender from the club last night? His name is Lance." I requested.

" Sure, and don't worry, I will keep your secret with me," Joseph assured. I got out of the car and sent him a wave as he drove away.

I stalked towards the old building and started to climb the stairs. After reaching the third floor, I walked cautiously to the wooden door, taking note of the creepy neighbour staring at me. I sent him a small smile before unlocking the door.

I dropped my bag on the useless excuse of a sofa and stalked to my suitcase. Opening it, I found a pair of sweatpants and a hoodie.

The nights getting colder every day. Soon my heart will freeze and no one will be able to unfreeze it.

Balancing the clothes on the broken railing, I stripped off my clothes and turned the water. Coldwater rushed down to my hair, immediately rushing to my body. I shivered as I took the shower.

I would say I miss the bathtubs in the mansion, but I will not because of my damn pride.

I turned the water off and fasten my bra and slid into my panties. I was pulling the sweatpants on when I heard someone knocking on the door.

" Just a second!" I hollered, hoping whoever was at the door would wait. I pulled the hoodie over my head and felt it already warming me up.

I pulled my wet hair into a messy bun on top of my head, walking to the door. I pulled the door open, half expecting to see the creepy neighbour. Some of my hair dropped from the bun as I looked up at the person at the door.

What...what is...he doing here?

My eyes widened as my eyes raked over the familiar face. My hand reached the door and pulled it. I tried to close the door, but he struck his feet in between the door and the wedge.

He pushed the door open, walking in as he looked over me. " I think you have come to the wrong place. You might want to leave." I urged, walking behind.

" You live here?" His startled voice made me hung my face in shame. " You came to the wrong place. You might want to leave." I repeated once again.

" No, I am at the correct place. Now answer me. You live here?" His voice thundered. I peered up at him and nodded my head.

" And I thought you were living in a bloody hotel. Why are you living here?!" He asked, nearing me.

" Can you please keep your distance?" I asked timidly. " I am your damn husband. I will do whatever I want. This isn't the hospital too. There is no need for me to keep my distance." He argued.

" I am not comfortable with you standing very close to me." My voice squeaked. " I asked why you live here." He questioned.

" Because I want to. And it's not like I have the money for another place." I replied, shrugging.

" What happened to the card I gave you?!" His voice raised. " I left it. It is in your mansion if that is what you are looking for." I replied, turning away from him. I walked to the broken wooden table and poured myself a cup of water.

" Pack everything. You are coming back." He ordered, his voice booming. " I am not going anywhere. Please leave. I need to sleep." I replied before gulping the water.

" I am not leaving until you do." His words appeared as a shock to me. I thought for a while before laughing.

" Help yourself," I replied before sitting on the sofa. Placing my bag on the floor, I propped my legs on the armrest before trying to lie down. I gazed at him once more before placing my arm on my eyes.

" You've got to be kidding me. Do you sleep on that pathetic excuse of a sofa?" He asked. I pretended to sleep, hoping he will show himself out.

I heard some shuffling. Before I could know it, I was in his arms.
