I dropped down the marble floors, yet still kept the Macarons clean as much as my breaking self could. My tears were endless as it cascaded down my cheeks. Only sobs were heard from the hallway where the Alpha and the Luna’s room was.I don’t know why I’m even crying. I expected this. This is the path that I choose. I thought I’ll be okay with her there. Is there anything far worse than this? I swallowed the lump in my throat, trying to regain my composure. The steps from the other side of the door behind me reached my senses. I instantly wiped the tears from my eyes and was about to walk away to at least get a grip of myself before seeing whoever between Raine and Calvin came to see me in such a state.Elliot was frantic, yet he didn’t know what to do. He never saw me crying this much and he’s aware how much I hate sympathy. He helped me get up from the cold grip of the marble floor that seems to be luring me inside me of it, giving me a cold comfort I never thought I’d ever need.
The door busted open, a worried Calvin scurrying inside. His eyes tried to find whomever he came in the clinic for, until his eyes landed onto me.Onto me and Elliot.I simply stared at him. There was no way I would ever push Elliot away. This was by far one of the most satisfying things in my life; to watch him angry. “Maryna . . .” he huffed, his chest heaving up and down, probably from how fast he came here running. I roll my eyes before turning to look at Elliot who looks like he’s not sure whether to pull away or to stay. I give him a glare, signaling him to stay still. “I’m going to have my head slit off my neck.” he mouthed, slightly shaking his head to refuse my request. I scowled at him and he shrugged at me, all the while Calvin was still there, standing statically. My best friend pulled himself away from me before greeting Calvin with a nod and sitting back to his seat beside the bed.“How was Lady Raine, Alpha?” Elliot asked Calvin who’s eyes were still pacing back and f
“Maryna?” Calvin’s voice followed by Raine’s gasp was enough to have me lowering my head. I was already on my stomach, with only my hands keeping my face from palming itself onto the wooden floor.I wasn’t lowering my head because I was embarrassed, no it was far more than that. It takes more than some simple, pathetic scene to get me to embarrass myself.I chew on the insides of my cheeks, forcing the tears back from my eyes. Letting the anger seep in, I cling onto it. I cling tightly on the now numbing anger that’s kept within the pits of my stomach. “Maryna . . .” Raine was pulling the sheets from the bed while Calvin was in his undergarment, covering only his genitals. They really just came out of the room after doing it. I shake my head, before pushing myself up the cold floor. I was dizzy, but I tried to keep my ground, nailing myself straight to face them head on with confidence.I looked at Raine and was about to glare at her. How dare she have sex with the man that was suppo
Calvin left a few hours ago.All that was left was my pathetic naked body now covered in these thin bed sheets while my nightgown was scattered around the floors, 9all torn to shreds. The sun was seeping through the glass panes normally as if nothing happened. Here I was, staring right into the wall as though it will somehow close into me and swallow me into its thick materials, just so I can escape this self disgust imprinted in me like a tattoo. He left an imprint on me. A trace of his entrance in my body. A force that left me unmoving. That was the last thing I expected for Calvin to do. A man I was with for my entire life.I don’t even have time to grieve about it as his last words turned me over to the edge of sacrifice or desire.“you’re gonna tell anyone about this and you’re stripped off of your Luna position, you understand?”And all I could do was stare at nothing as he slammed the door closed.Still, after everything that has happened, it baffles me as to why he has to go hi
“I don’t think she wants to eat with us, Calvin . . .” Raine, still clinging to Calvin’s arm, mumbled, pouting at her mate. Calvin stared at me and Elliot hard that I clenched my bestfriend’s coat even tighter. Elliot seemed to have noticed my panic and instantly took the hand I was clenching. He turned to look at Calvin before looking back at me.“You should—You should go and eat, Elliot.” With trembling hands, I push him away despite his feeble attempt of trying to communicate with me through his magnificent gray eyes. There was just no way I’m letting him get involved in this.I chewed on the insides of my cheek before turning to the eagle who seemed to be listening by how sharp he’s looking at us as though we’re making a scene.I pet its feathers comfortably, avoiding any of their gazes. “Where did you find such a pet, Maryna?” I swallowed the lump in my throat when Calvin’s voice reached my ears. I stayed composed, gently petting the eagle with my trembling hands. “It has lande
“WOULD you care if I buy you a drink?” “I’m buying you a drink.” The guy was buff. As I am, he was also wearing a cloak that covers his entire body. But with his broad shoulders and tall physique, I just know he’s one heck of a strong man.“Are you perhaps copying me, Sir?” I asked. I plaster a fake smile on my face to hide my annoyance. He simply stared at me, even bothering to look me up and down which furthermore infuriated me.“I am not.” he answered and I rolled my eyes, shrugging the frustration out before we both turn to the barista whose eyes are now as wide as that of an owl. He was changing his gazes to the both of us, astonished as though we’re not like any other customers. The mask guy beside me seems to know why while I remain confused. “There are-there are two special guests tonight?” he stammered, eyes becoming an expression between panic and fear. “There’s only one. Take a look at your list.” The masked man said and I turn to him, raising my brows, but he was noncha
“Welcome gentlemen, mademoiselles! As the goddess graces upon us this beautiful night, we will present to you gifts from the highest of qualities that will surely have you spending half of your fortunes!” The guy wearing a black top hat announced enthusiastically to the crowd. Oh, an auction, I see. This isn’t as bad as I thought it would be.I subtly glance at the masked stranger from earlier who’s sitting on a leather seat on the parted other side. Just when I thought I’d somehow get a glimpse of him unnoticed, I was instantly caught peeking by his dark orbs that seem to be staring right through my soul. He has a smug look on his face, smirking. You must be wondering how I can tell despite that large mask covering half of his face—I can simply tell as I have been dealing with such expressions for my entire life. He raised his brows at me and I responded with a pair of narrowed eyes as I tried to grasp his intention behind that signature smug look.I’m never leaving here until I wi
I’m not sure what’s worse, was it the embarrassment of being caught red handed and greatly misunderstood of having an intimate contact with the stranger I was battling with earlier by the barista; or is it the fact that somehow, I’m starting to like the sensation of being in this masked stranger’s arms? One thing’s for sure, I’m grateful I didn’t fall back down the stairs, but I have to get out of here or I’ll die from self pity.“Do you want to do this in an inn, darling?” The masked stranger pulled me to his chest even closer, his breath fanning my face as he whispered close. Blood instantly tinted my cheeks from the heated embarrassment and before I knew it, I found myself pushing his rock hard chest away from me. I pat my clothes disgustingly as though he has tainted it dirty while I try to avoid his gaze as much as I can. With my head up high, I pull the painting even closer to me. “I’d appreciate it if you keep your jokes to yourself, and um—” I clear my throat as I subtly glan
