CHAPTER 44: Cake

“I don’t get what you’re trying to say, Dawn . . .” I mutter, scratching the back of my head. Of course, I know what she’s trying to say. But, those who angers you, conquers you, so let’s leave her to that.

“You were a criminal, right?” She mumbles. I bite my lip before nodding, putting down the utensils on the side of the plate. “Innocent. I was innocent. There was more to the story than—”

“Of course there is.” She exclaimed, smiling at me. I turn to the door, waiting for Lucius and his Beta to come back. Lucius isn’t where he is when he should goddamn be!

What am I even thinking?! Dawn means no harm. She’s a close friend of Lucius so mind what you say.

“You’re going to be a queen, right? A Queen that was once a criminal, exiled from her pack. How ironic!” she mumbled and I nodded. It’s a truth I’m quite ashamed about, but still a truth nonetheless.

“What do you think the council would have to say about this? I mean, it’s like the rags to riches love story.” I raise both my brows a
