MasukZena's POV
I was livid, my inside felt like I was in a sauna, I was burning and trust me. I tried to be civil with him, but it was true when they said that you could not bargain with a criminal.
'' Answer me, Goddadmit,'' I yelled as I punched him again, but he only smirked as if he was enjoying seeing me fall apart.
'' I am impressed, you do not hit like a lady,'' Manuel said and his eyes glittered with amusement.
The look in his eyes disgusted me, and I didn't know when I started hitting him nonstop.
'' You want it the hard way, I am going to make sure you experience it just the way you want it,'' I yelled, hitting me nonstop.
I was blinded by rage that I couldn't think nor feel, it felt like the devil had its hold on me, and no matter how I tried to break free from the rage that held me bonded, I just couldn't. I have never felt like this in a long time. The last time I felt this kind of rage was towards Keith, and I never thought that I was going to feel like that again.
'' Chief, Chief, Zena,'' I suddenly heard Ceila yelling at me, pulling me away from Manuel.
'' This is not right, stop this, there are better ways to get information from him, and if you do not know. This is a human rights case just waiting to happen,'' Ceila said to me, as she urged me to calm down. But her words fell on deaf ears as I tried to hit the man and Zena stopped me again.
''Breath, I need you to breathe Zena, he is just trying to get under your skin,'' She said again, as she continued to urge me to calm down.
'' You are right, he is just trying to get under my skin,'' I let out breathlessly as I tried to catch my breath.
'' Drink,'' Ceila handed me a bottle of water.
Downing the contents of the bottle, I was a little bit calm.
'' Thank you,'' I whispered and Ceila nodded.
'' Let me see if I can get him to talk,'' she whispered back as she turned to look at Manuel now.
'' Mr López, I don't want this, I hate the way that my boss is treating you, but I can get her to stop, all you have to do is to tell us what we need to know,'' Ceila let out. but Manuel only laughed.
'' Wait, are you both trying to play the good cop and the bad cop with me, because if you are it is hilarious,'' Manuel chuckled, saying, and his words got me all riled up again.
'' Oh you will sure get the bad cop treatment from me,'' I yelled, slamming his face again onto the hard table.
'' I like it, rough princess, do it again,' he let out most disgustingly.
I wanted to give him what he asked for, but Ceila stopped me.
'' There won't be any need for that, Mr López, because you are going to talk,'' Ceila blurted out, sounding so convinced that it had me confused.
Manuel's gaze drifted between us, as a creepy smile sat pretty on his face.
'' If you think that I will talk, then you have another thing coming, so you both should have better think again.'' Manuel fumed with so much anger in his eyes and that was when Ceila opened a file and dropped several pictures on his table.
Soon the angry look in Manuel's eyes faded, and all I could see was fear.
I was confused about the sudden change in his eyes, so I had to move close to see what Ceila had just shown him.
'' They were pictures of a young boy in his teens. I didn't recognise who he was, but it was obvious that Manuel knew him very well.
'' I can see that you know who he is,'' Ceila let out and Manuel stared daggers at her.
If only looks could kill, Ceila would have been dead.
'' What do you want,'' Manuel asked.
'' Simple, we want you to give up your boss, tell us where we can find him, and I will take my trail off your son,'' Ceila answered.
'' His Son,'' I thought to myself, confused.
'' I have a lot of evidence that could put your son behind bars for life. It is such a shame that you had to introduce him to this messed-up lifestyle of yours, but the question now is, are you going to allow your son to suffer for something you are responsible for because you introduced him to a life of crime,'' Ceila let out and it was obvious that she had gotten to him because of the way he shivered nervously.
'' I... I...'' He hesitated.
'' We just want to know where we can find him,'' Ceila let out as she urged him to speak.
'' You are cops, why can't you find this information out yourself?' He said, trembling at every word.
'' That is why our creator in heaven sent you to us, so you had better start talking,'' I demanded.
Silence took over the atmosphere as we all waited for Manuel to speak.
'' If I tell you what I know, you have to promise me that you will give my son immunity,'' Manuel let out, breaking the silence.
'' Definitely, your son will be good to go, only if you talk,'' Ceila assured him.
'' No. I know better than to trust the words of a cop. I need it in writing, and I want it signed by the mayor himself.'' Manuel said and I rolled my eyes.
'' You are in no place to be making demands, so you had better start talking or I will make sure that your son suffers a worse fate than you,'' I threatened, but he seemed unmoved.
'' I have told you what I want, all I need is a written document showing that my boy will go free if I talk,'' Manuel let out as he folded his arms, looking at me so intensely.
I was livid, I wanted to break his face again but Ceila stopped me, as she pulled me away from the interrogation room.
'' Ceila, you forget that I am boss here, so allow me to handle this the way I deem fit,'' I yelled at her.
'' I know that you are, but you are not thinking straight, you can not beat him to death and still expect him to talk,'' Ceila let out and I rolled my eyes.
I knew that Ceila did not understand what solving this case meant to me. It was not her job on the line.
'' So what will you have me do,'' I asked.
'' I think we should do what he said, it is the only way to get results,'' Ceila suggested.
Zena's POVMy eyes peeled open slowly, wincing against the light bleeding through the windows. Everything was moving. I was in a car.I tried to piece together what had happened, but my thoughts were slippery, fragmented. Leonardo. I had seen Leonardo again. That much I knew.I attempted to shift in my seat and immediately regretted it. A sharp pain exploded through my skull and drove me back against the headrest. I pressed my eyes shut, breathing through it.This is bad. When I tried to move again, I felt the resistance. My wrists were bound.Adrenaline hit me like cold water."What the hell is going on?" I snapped, jerking upright despite the pain. "Where are you taking me?"One of the two figures in the front seat turned around. Leonardo.A traitorous flicker of relief moved through my chest before I shut it down. Relief was the last thing I should be feeling right now. I had a mission. A carefully constructed, months-in-the-making mission, and he was unravelling it thread by thread
Zena's POVI froze in shock as the strange man in a mask said my name. I was confused. No one here knew my real name, so how was this even possible? As a cop on an undercover mission, I knew this was bad for me, having someone who knew my real name."Who the hell are you?" I screamed as I forcefully freed myself from his grip. The man in the mask did not say a word. He just kept looking at me with those compelling eyes of his as he moved closer."Don't come close," I yelled, picking up a stick from a broken table and threatening to hit him."Zena," the man said again, his familiar voice laced with confusion and surprise."How do you know my name? No one knows my name here," I asked, trying my best not to show fear.A smile crept across the stranger's face as he stepped back and removed the mask. My heart stopped when I saw who was staring at me."Leonardo Conti?""Oh Zena, you are still the spitfire I remember," he said, and I was beyond confused."How... why?" I mumbled, unable to for
Leo’s POV“Do I hear twenty for this ravishing beauty?” the auctioneer called.Silence followed.“Ten thousand, going once… going twice…”That was my bid.The gavel hovered, seconds from sealing my win, when a voice cut through the room.“Twenty thousand.”I turned sharply. Hugo. The smug bastard leaned back in his chair like this was a game.“Do I hear twenty-five?” the auctioneer asked, excitement rising.Heat crawled up my neck. I didn’t know why Hugo was interfering, but I wasn’t about to lose.“Forty thousand,” I said. The crowd murmured.“Do I hear fifty?”“One hundred thousand,” Hugo replied lazily. My jaw tightened. He was doing this on purpose.“Three hundred thousand,” I snapped before the auctioneer could even breathe.Hugo smirked at me.“Four hundred thousand for that lovely lady.”“Five hundred thousand.”I barely heard myself anymore. All I could think about was the woman in the blue mask. Something about her had pulled my attention the moment she stepped onto the stage.
Leo’s POVPeople said time healed everything. They lied.Time didn’t heal anything. It simply taught you how to hide the damage better. The scars stayed. They just stopped bleeding where others could see.My sister’s death never left me. Some mornings, I felt her absence before I even opened my eyes, like an invisible weight pressing down on my chest. Losing her had broken something inside me that never fully came back together. And no matter how hard I tried to bury it, my anger always found one destination.Lucas.My brother brought love into a world that only understood power and violence. That love brought chaos. Chaos brought loss. And in the end, we buried our sister. He was supposed to protect us. He was the head of the family. The one who carried responsibility on his shoulders. He failed.I left soon after. Staying would have destroyed what little remained of me.Years passed.I built a new life in another city, far away from my brothers and the ghosts attached to them. I star
Zena’s POVIt felt like I was losing my mind.Everything had unravelled so quickly that I could barely remember where the plan had gone wrong. One moment, I thought I was in control; the next, everything was chaos. This wasn’t what I had prepared for. An innocent girl wasn’t supposed to suffer because of me. Rana wasn’t supposed to be taken. But she was.And now Ceila had no way of finding me.That thought clawed at my chest until breathing felt heavy. If Ceila couldn’t find me, then she couldn’t save Rana. She couldn’t save any of us.Around me, the room was quiet except for soft breathing and occasional whimpers. The other girls lay scattered across the floor, wrapped in exhaustion. Some slept restlessly, their brows pinched in fear even in their dreams. Others stared blankly into the darkness, too tired to cry anymore.Sleep refused to come to me.My mind kept racing, jumping from one impossible idea to another. Escape routes. Weak points. Chances. Every thought hit a dead end befor
Zena's POVForcing my mind not to think about you know who, that was when Noah and his sister walked out of her room.'' Babe, Kelly has something to say to you,'' Noah let out as I drifted my attention to my friend.'' I don't want you to die, but I have to acknowledge that it is your job, even though I do not know why you have such a dangerous job, you are no jame bond,'' Kelly let out and I couldn't help but laugh.''Don't laugh, I am serious,'' Kelly said, rolling her eyes.'' I am sorry, keep talking,'' I let out as I urged her to keep talking.'' Anyways, I know I can't do anything to stop you from going on that mission, but you have to promise me that you will not die, and you will come back and marry my brother because I am going to plan the wedding of the century for you both,'' Kelly said and I smiled.'' Of course, I promise, I will come back. You are both my family, I can't live without you two,'' I answered as I stood up, hugging her.'' Pinke promise,'' Kelly let out and
Zena’s POVKelly and Noah stared at me, their expressions a mix of shock and disbelief. I could almost feel the questions racing through their minds, the fear and worry hidden behind their composed faces.“What do you mean?” Kelly asked finally, her voice sharp with concern.“I am a cop. It is kind
Zena’s POVWalking into my apartment, I was immediately met with the smiling face of my fiancé, Noah.I froze, startled. He had not told me he was coming over.“Hi, baby,” I muttered as he stepped closer and wrapped me in a warm hug.“Hi, you. I missed you,” he whispered, pressing his lips to mine.
