Three hours earlier...

"She's meant to pay in all ways possible for her father's sins Cassian. You and I know what that means." A blonde haired woman no older than her late twenties said.

She calmly looked at the man in front of her .

Her red manicured fingernails kept clicking on her desk with a rhythmic pattern, like she was counting down seconds.

Cassian didn't raise his eyes from the kitten laying on his lap.

"She'll be useful. You know that Bella."

The woman's lips pressed into a thin line. A scowl alreday forming.

"What the f*** are you talking about?"

She shoved her chair back and rose on her feet.

"Her father did us no good. I don't want his offspring repeating the same sh**."

She picked up the wine filled glass and gulped its content down.

"I'm keeping her alive."

The woman sucked air through her teeth and cussed. She walked around her desk to where her brother sat and sat.

Her heels clicking on the floor like her nails did.

"Cassian" she said leaning on her desk looking down at him. Her expression, calm. "Keeping her alive will cost us a lot."

"I have my ways... Even fate can't stop me." He dropped the kitten on the floor carefully and pulled out a syringe from the front pocket of his sister's jacket.

"Stay out of my way." He gave a light pat on her shoulder and walked out of the office, the guards creating a path for him to walk through as he approached.

-----

Present time ....

"You killed them." Iris kept screaming and crying till her voice became hoarse and her throat dry. Those were the words she had been screaming since she woke up.

She tugged against the chains that held both her hands up like she was on a cross. She was kneeling, but her legs were chained together and attached to the wall behind her.

The door of the room cracked open and the man stepped in .

His eyes were calm but cold. His expression stoic and his posture relaxed but domineering.

His calm domineer scared the living hell out of her. He looked more like the devil walking in flesh and bone.

"Stay away from me." She screamed and thrashed harder against the chains and moved back on instinct when they didn't budge, her eyes reflecting rage and panic.

Memories of how he injected that liquid into her hours, made her squirm.

Cassian didn't answer. He walked to were she was, at the corner of the kind sized bedand sat down.

His eyes kept staring into hers. Iris pulled her eyes away from his soul-seeing stare and continued tugging at the chains.

"You need to know that truth." Came his voice calm and low. His eyes still on her.

Iris froze her head rose slowly and their gazes locked.

"Truth?" She scoffed. "All I know is you... and your fucked up gang killed my family." She gritted her teeth her eyes red with tears and rage.

"You're wasting your energy and time if you don't know the truth." He leaned in so their faces were inches apart.

He ran his thumb across her pale tear stained face and flicked the tears underneath her eyes. Iris pulled back her eyes now confused and red rimmed.

"These tears of vengeance, are on shed for the wrong person."

"You're lying." She screamed back thrashing harder than before.

"Let me show you." He blinked unfazed by her tantrums.

He stood up from the bed and picked up the laptop on the bedside table. Iris went quiet.

He flipped it open, waited for it to boot, then played a video.

That was the night of their escape but ... the view was from inside the truck.

Iris's eyes widened. There were hidden cameras in their truck.

She gulped her saliva down her parched throat realization hit her slowly.

Her father really ran businesses for the wrong people.

The video played from when her father picked Cassian Donatelli's call. Down to the moment her mom shouted something out before the explosion.

He paused the video and played it in slow-mo.

"Merittua's" her mother's mouth formed.

Iris's eyes squinted and Cassian played that part again.

She raised her eyes up, giving him a weary look she muttered, "More proof."

She sniffed. Then tugged at the chains. "Also. Get this off of me." She tugged at the chains to emphasize her point.

"When you see the last one."

His aloof reply came.

He played the other video.

The clip looked like the camera was attached to the street light of the road the attack happened.

She watched how her family members were gathered together after the fire had gone and shot again in the head.

She screamed but sound came out. Her heart clenched in pain. Watching them die again.

Her tears made it more harder for her to focus, but the next scene made her freeze.

The whole gang had left and after what seemed like minutes. Another set of vehicles arrived. Her eyes widened when she saw him, Cassian, step out of the present vehicle.

He paused the video and zoomed in on each of his members wrists.

There lay a tattoo of a snake eating its own tail.

He took the video back and zoomed it on the other group's wrist.

Iris eyes widened, her expression immediately turned grim.

Her mind slowly getting a hang of what was happening.

"You see, Iris I didn't kill your family." He flipped the slick laptop close and tossed it on the bed.

"All of them are going to pay." She gritted her teeth her eyes staring ahead of her with determination.

Cassian gave out a dark bone chilling chuckle. Iris recoiled.

He squatted to her height, his gaze met her confused eyes .

"You still have your father's debt to pay. Coderito." He whispered in her ear.

The office door flung open, Cassian strode in. His gaze swept over the empty bottle of wine, Bella sitting cross-legged sipping wine.Then...his gaze settled on Iris. His eyes settled on her flushed face for a fraction of a second. "They said she was here." He spoke dryly.Bella smiled lazily, swirling the glass of wine in her hand."They were right."Cassian looked down at the bottle, his expression darkening. "...You got her drunk.""It wasn't intentional." Bella's smile remained intact, not moved by her brother's anger that she touched his new toy."You're angry." She chuckled lightly, her eyes following his movements. He looked at her, his poker face on, only this time, he looked like he just heard the most boring joke ever. "I don't waste anger." Bella slowly placed her wine glass on the table."I invited her to lunch." Cassian just stared at her."I wanted to meet her." He didn't move.Bella folded her arms, her smile had been replaced by a snarl. "So?"Cassian's gaze never lef

Silence settled between them. Iris stared at him, her chest rising and falling. "...Fine." She bit out. "I'll repay the debt." She took a step toward him, her blue eyes burning with defiance."But don't mistake this for loyalty." "I'm doing this for my family. The day I no longer need you..." She held his gaze. "...is the day I walk away." Cassian looked at her for a long moment. His eyes flickered,"We'll see." He turned on his heel and walked away. Iris glared at his retreating figure before following him, her fists clenched at her sides. **** Iris hissed in pain as her finger tips traced the skin on her shoulder where she was zapped. A few weeks ago she never would have imagined herself in this situation. Even if a fortune teller had told her this she would denounce it as a prank. She stared down at her bare feet as she tread lightly through the hallway, security flanking either side of her. "Miss Bella requires your presence." Iris' head snapped up. Surprise flashed ac

"You're going to be my assassin." Cassian's words echoed in the training room. Iris pulled herself from him for instantly like she has been jolted awake by electric current. Then she let out a dry, humorless laugh. "...You've officially lost your mind." Cassian remained silent. His expression stoic as ever. She tossed the bow onto the table with a loud clang. "I'm not becoming anyone's assassin." She was still haunted by seeing her parents killed, now she was being told to kill people for a living? 'Hell no.' she scoffed. She turned and headed for the door. All rational thinking gone. "You don't have a choice." She froze. She looked back over her shoulder. "Oh?" She scoffed. "And why is that?" Cassian slipped both hands into his trouser pockets. "Because your father's debt still exists. You asked how you'd repay it." His black eyes met hers. "This..." he gestured around the training room. "...is how." Her jaw tightened. "I never agreed to become your weapon." "You agreed to

The elevator descended enveloped in complete silence. Iris stood beside Cassian, her arms folded tightly across her chest. She stared down at her bare feet occasionally, trying to shake the uneasy feeling. The only sound that echoed was the soft hum of the elevator and the occasional ding as they passed each floor. She lifted her eyes from her feet and stole a glance at him. He stood with both hands tucked inside his trouser pockets, his posture relaxed. She almost eyed him with contempt. It annoyed her that he got to be so calm and relaxed. Did this man ever feel nervous? The elevator finally came to a stop. ‘Ding’ The steel doors slid open. Iris stepped out...and stopped dead in her tracks. Her eyes widened. An enormous underground facility stretched out before her. Gunshots echoed from one end of the room. Metal clanged against metal somewhere else. Men sparred inside fighting rings while others practiced knife combat on thick wooden dummies. Beyond them were rows of

The shattered pieces of porcelain lay scattered across the marble floor. No one moved. Every rifle remained aimed at Iris. Her palms began to sweat, her eyes wide in shock. Cassian simply looked at her. As seconds ticked by, his expression never changed. "Leave us." He said staring at her with a pinning gaze. The guards slowly lowered their weapons, the frail young woman was not a threat for, but they stared at their boss, surprise on their faces. "...Boss?" The leader of the guards began. But Cassain cut him off before he could land. "I said leave." The chief guard signaled the others and within seconds, the hallway emptied until only the two of them remained. Silence streched between them. Cassian looked once at the broken vase. Then back at Iris's bare foot, then finally her face. She suqirmed under his gaze she now realised she was barefoot when his eyes ran over her. "You enjoy disobeying me." He stated stepping closer, closing the ten steps gap between them. Iris's p

  • Lucifer's angel    Chapter 8: SUVS.

Two hours earlier... The mansion was unbearably quiet. Birds chirped beyond her bedroom window. On any other day, the sound would have been calming. Today, it only made her more restless. Every second she spent trapped inside these four walls felt like another second wasted. Yesterday's encounter with Cassian still lingered in her mind. The man was something else. She had spent the last hour pacing the length of her room, counting the seconds by the ticking antique clock in the room. Funny enough she couldn't even drink anything the wet bar was useless someone had locked it up. She had grown tired of staring at the same four walls. With a sigh, she walked to the window. Her frown appeared on her face. Three black SUVs rolled to a stop in the circular driveway below. Men dressed in tailored black suits stepped out one after another, speaking into earpieces as they checked the vehicles. Something big was happening. She watched as Cassian emerged from the front entran
