LOGINIcelyn's POV
Revealed in his mouth were brown teeth like he'd never brushed in his life. And his breath? It was like rotten meat. I almost gagged. “Please, I have to go,” I pleaded knowing I'd run into the wrong person. This man was a creature like... Him. Like that man. I wanted nothing to do with them. As I hurried past the man out, I sighed in relief. But to my dismay, he materialized in front of me. Or did he just speed here? “Going somewhere, filthy thing?” he asked in a weird tone. I wrinkled my nose. Filthy thing? Look who's calling me filthy. “Excuse me please, I have to go,” I pleaded again. He laughed throatily and grabbed my arm. I yelped and tried to pull it out of his hold. “Hey, Nali! Come see this pretty toy I found,” he shouted over to someone I couldn't see. I knew I was in trouble. My heart pounded erratically against my chest. “Please. I'm with... I'm with the Alpha. Do you know him... Alpha?” He looked silently at me for a moment then burst into laughter. He shoved me dangerously against the wall behind me and I hit with a thud. I think my shoulder bone shifted at the impact. I slid towards the ground but before I could even properly hit it, he was there in front of me and grabbing me right up. He wasn't really materializing like I said earlier. But he was moving through the air like that mysterious man. I wanted to plead with him to let me go again, but I found myself flying through the air. Next, I felt my head bump into something sharp and metallic. Two laughter filtered through the air at me where I had fallen to the concrete floor, right in front of a dumpster. I felt something sticky soaking my hair and warmth filled that spot. Hellish pain wafted from that part of my body. Great. I just left the frying pan to fire. How many injuries in less than 24 hours? The men, two of them now sped over to me. They were each mumbling words like ‘Filthy human’, ‘dirty thing’, ‘ugly’, and ‘pet’ as they pulled me up and threw me over to the wall again. I cried at the pain. I was hurting badly. They kept tossing me around, kicking me, dragging me and pulling at my hair right at the spot where I was injured and bleeding. Despite my cries, no one came. It was so loud on that street that I was sure people passing wouldn't hear me. But still, I prayed for someone to come. An officer. Anyone. I was dying in the hands of these men. “I have never seen a human before. I can't believe they are as weak as described,” one of them, the Nali commented as they stood over my body. I was sprawled down on the floor. My blood was staining everywhere, and no ounce of strength left in me. “Let's take her to Bones Station. She'll be our trophy. We'll be kings for catching a human,” the first person said with ecstasy like they were fishermen and I was a fancy fish. “Yes!” I heard them fist bump roughly. “Let's hide her here. We'll be famous this time tomorrow!” They lowered their arms and grabbed me. Everything hurt. But I had no strength to cry or even wince anymore. A door swung open and I was tossed into a dark room. I was tossed inside like a literal ball. I collided brutally against the smooth floor and felt my waist dislocating. This day could not get any worse. *** I turned uncomfortably on the hard and cold floor after regaining consciousness. Or did I fall asleep? All I remembered was crying quietly and begging for help to come in my head because I was too weak to pronounce a word with my mouth. There were no windows in this room and even if they were, those two men wouldn't open them. My body was shaking with hunger and thirst. At least, if you wanted to keep a prisoner, you'd feed them, right? My father's prison was better than this. I let out a quiet and weak laugh. My life was pathetic. Moving from one prison to another was nothing fun, yet I'd been in three prisons in 24 hours. I wish I had just stayed with the mysterious man. At least he fed me affectionately this morning. Thinking of him, my stomach rumbled and tingled. I didn't think it was for hunger this time. It was for that Alpha. I was craving his presence again. I wanted to see him break down this door and squat in front of me. Then he'd look me in the eye and tell me he's got me covered. He'd carry me in his arms and take me away from this cold room. At least I'd get to feel his body against mine again, just like at breakfast this morning. It was the creaking of the door that made me realize I was thinking rubbish again. This was the effect the mysterious man had on me. He made me want to want him. He made me want to fall on a bed and beg him to do whatever he pleased with me. He made me want to submit to him. This was the reason I should avoid him. To go far away from him. “Hello, filthy thing,” the ugly voice of the first man I ran into filled my ears. I wanted to scream at him to disappear, but I had no ounce of strength. I looked outside through the door and noticed the sun was a fading shade of orange. It was sunset. I'd been in this room for the full day? Mysterious Man must be searching all over for me now. “She's awake,” I heard a voice I didn't recognize. He was a third person and wasn't part of the two who bullied me earlier. “She's so ugly,” I heard another say and laughter erupted in the room. The foul smell from their mouths almost made me gag. Who were they calling ugly? Do they ever look in the mirror? One of them prodded me with his legs while the other poked my head with a sharp claw. I felt sizzling pain at that spot and I was sure the claw had torn open my scalp. “Come on, we'll be back in two hours to take her to Bones Station,” the main thug announced and shooed the rest out. They shut the door again and left me in darkness. I couldn't cry this time. But I secretly wished the Alpha would show up and break their necks for me. I didn't know how. But I knew he'd do anything for me. And I needed him now.Icelyn's POV I woke up to subtle movements from the side of my bed. It was obvious whatever was causing the noise did not want to wake me up. Typical Elle behavior. “Elle, I’m awake. Stop with the mouse behavior already,” I grunted and turned. A small pain in my shoulder froze me. “Oww,” I yelped. “You have to be careful, Icelyn. You’re injured."The masculine voice brought me back to reality. Elle wasn’t here and this was not my room at home. In fact, it wasn’t even my room here. I jerked up, slightly pushing against the Alpha who was bending over towards me. “Calm down. I just want to check your temperature.” “I don’t need you to check anything. Stay off!” He stood few feet away, his hands sliding into his pockets. He was fully dressed in his office wear, his hair a little still damp. “What am I doing here?” I asked. He exhaled and walked to his desk. He slid on his wristwatch and turned to face me again. “Good morning, Luna. How do you feel?” I glared at him. “This is y
Vince and I were about to drink some champagne after silently gobbling down some meat when we both heard her scream. It came as a shock at first, with my best man and I just staring at each other the first few seconds. Then we unleashed.I went out in a blur of gold light, crashing into whatever dared stay in my way. I could feel Vince behind me, his speed almost on par with mine. I could feel his anger pushing against me and it made me glad I had someone with me in this fight. Vince was as shocked as I was when I told him about Icelyn. He was there from the beginning of it all. He knew how impossible it was supposed to be able to find her. He knew I couldn't lose her... again."There... Shit!" he cussed and took off ahead of me. A big black wolf was attacking another wolf. A smaller wolf that was obviously not as skilled as he was. Vince shifted and attacked the big wolf, pulling it off the injured small wolf and sinking his fangs into its neck. I felt my mate a little way off and tu
Icelyn's POVRosa had spent the rest of the day telling me a thousand and one reasons nobody liked Lady Azul in the Pack House. She was bossy, acted like she owned the place, downgrading and too egoistic. She wasn't even 'that' pretty. “From what I've heard, she had her face done in the human world. She's all fake,” Rosa revealed for the umpteenth time. I almost rolled my eyes. “You told me that detail already. Tell me something else. Who is she... to him? Not that I care but...just curious.”Rosa leveled her eyes on me, digging into my eyeballs as if she was trying to crack a code in my pupils.“Are you sure you don't care?” she asked. “Of course I don't. You know what, don't tell me. I really don't want to know.”She smiled and shrugged.“Okay. If you say so.”Then she went about rambling about stuff that didn't concern me. Or the Alpha at all. It was torture listening to her. But at least I learned some things and asked a lot of questions. After she left me to go about her maid
Alpha Chester's POVIcelyn was supposed to be human. But I couldn't help but feel there was something otherworldly about her. Something that suppressed the predator in me the moment she showed up. I couldn't bring myself to feel angry with her. With the way she glowered at me. The way her eyes narrowed with hatred when she saw me. The way it felt like she could punch me in the gut if I so much as stepped closer to her. I couldn't react to that other than to feel shame she saw me that way. She didn't see me as her mate, neither felt this connection. The only thing she saw in me was a monster.Maybe I truly was a monster to her. I did snatch her from her world and family. Then forcefully kept her in a realm where she was a prey. What she went through with the vagabond wolves was enough to make her hate me for life. What if she had died there? What if I wasn't fast enough to save her?I heard the pen in my hand break and I looked down at my hand slowly. The pen had snapped into two, and
Icelyn's POVMy breathing quickened and I grabbed hold of the side of my chest, just above my heart.I looked to the place my mate just disappeared through and almost called for him. It was like he left with the air I breathed because my lungs choked on me, and I began to gasp. My legs shook and I could feel them giving way beneath me.I wanted him.“Are you okay, mi lady?” Rosa asked, her eyes wide with worry. I gulped down and let my hand drop from my chest.“I...I just felt weird. I'm fine now.”She didn't look like she believed me. She turned and looked to the spot the Alpha had stood in.“I could lead you to his study instead. I think he's using the one downstairs today.”I grabbed her arm roughly.“No! No...I'm fine. Let's go to the grounds.”“You know we can feel you crave hour mate, right? Sure, it's a faint signal as opposed to that released by a wolf shifter but—”I guessed she stopped blabbing because I took off as soon as we got through the back door into the beautiful, sc
Icelyn's POV“Tell me more about this rejection thingy,” I requested and edged closer, my chicken soup still warm in my hands.Rosa exhaled and cleared her throat.“We are a people with two phases to our soul. We can appear human-like, but we are, in fact, wolf shifters. Meaning we have wolves within us and that makes us a different species. I hear you call us werewolves. We in this pack prefer to go by the name wolf shifters, ” she began, albeit nervously.I furrowed my brows.“How do you exist? Isn't it impossible? Are you aliens or something?” I inquired. Rosa laughed beautifully, her eyes twinkling.“For that, I will give you some of our history books. They're fun to read and would let you know all about us.”I nodded. That could work. I loved to read.“And the Alpha-Luna names you call?”“We as a people are ruled by a wolf chosen from high to guide and protect us. This wolf has the most power and abilities among us. They are called Alphas and their lineage is usually well preserv
