เข้าสู่ระบบ“I hate you for bringing me here! I hate you for forcing me to live among wolves when I'm the only human. They all hate me! I am a prey, a pet, a weakling waiting to be devoured. How could you do this to me?” I cried as I stared the Alpha in the eye. I had just tried to escape again, but he caught me as always. There was something in his eyes. It was rage. Possessive and protective rage. “If anyone makes you feel insecure because you're human, I'll make sure their heads roll at their feet. Nobody is permitted to hurt you. Because you're mine. My mate. My Luna,” he replied. *** For 18 good years of my life, my father has kept me hidden from the outside world. Everything I wanted, he provided... Except to interact with people and live outside the walls of my wing in his mansion. All of a sudden, one night, he wants us to leave everything behind and flee. Flee from what? He won't say. Until strange men barge in and the leader of them has the face of the monster who has plagued my dreams every night for a decade. And then the monster proclaimed me his mate and took me away from the world I’ve ever known.
ดูเพิ่มเติมIcelyn's POV
Today was my 18th birthday. 18 years in prison. 18 years without sunlight. 18 years of hiding from what I did not know and couldn't understand. Why? Why would I be hidden from the world like a diseased child? Why couldn't I just go outside like normal people my age could?
I should hate my father for locking me up since I was a child. But I couldn't. He's... He's still all I've got. And he loved me.
He never allowed me take pictures, but Ellen, my nanny, secretly owned a smartphone with all my pictures. We had no internet, but we surely wouldn't even use it even if we had. Because no one was supposed to know I existed. In fact, I did not exist.
I forced myself to smile at the pictures I was taking for Ellen. Maybe one day... One beautiful day... I'll escape this prison.
Ever since I was little, I could sense when bad things were going to happen. I knew when I was going to get hurt, or when Ellen's favourite plate was going to fall and shatter. Or when Dad was coming home in a bad mood. Like today.
After I heard him at the door, my heart began to pound.
“Ellen, Dad's not in a good mood,” I said as she was hurrying away to hide her phone.
“What do you mean? It's your birthday today. There's no way he'd be in a bad mood,” she argued as she hurried back. I clutched my dress and held my breath as I heard him impute the code to the hidden iron door leading to my wing of the house. I shook my head.
“He's in an awful mood,” I cried as I turned around to run to my room and lock my door.
“Icelyn!” Ellen scolded but I didn't want to stop running to my room. I heard the iron door pushed open as I entered the hallway to my room.
“Icelyn! Come out, we're leaving. Now!” My father's voice boomed as he sprang into the room. I halted in my tracks, just before my door.
Leaving? Why were we leaving?
“Icelyn! Icelyn!” He shouted.
“What is going on, sir? Where are you going? Today is her birthday, allow her some decorum!” Ellen nagged. She was not afraid of my father but respected him.
“Ellen, get a few things. We're leaving right now. Icelyn!”
My heart thumped in my chest. Leaving? But it wasn't summer. I was only allowed to hide in a secluded cottage in Scotland during summer.q1
I turned around and walked into my living room to see my Dad with a small bag across his back. He was still wearing his office suit and shoes and was drenched in what was obviously his sweat.
“Dad,” I called. He swiftly turned around to see me. He seemed to relax a tiny bit.
“Icelyn, get your things. We're leaving this city now!”
“Why all of a sudden? What's happening?” I asked. He trotted to me and held my shoulders.
“We are not safe here anymore. We have to go. Stop asking questions and grab a bag. I'll explain on the way or when we reach somewhere safe.”
He pushed me a little to head off and I nodded. I glanced at Ellen, who looked as puzzled as I was, before running off to my room. While I was busy packing, I could hear both my Dad and Ellen grabbing things and hurrying around. Soon, I was done and returned to the living room with a bag having all my necessities. Dad was looking at his watch and visibly shaking. He no longer looked like the daunting Governor he was. But a toddler frightened of his mother.
“Dad, please tell me what's happening!” I demanded.
“On the way. I promise I'll explain.” He took my bag from me and held my arm. Ellen showed up from the kitchen with a bag most likely full of rations. She did not joke about food and basic necessities.
“Ellen, your things. Let me help you pack,” I suggested but Dad jerked me towards himself.
“No. You stay here by my side. Ellen, grab whatever you can in five minutes. We have to leave here. Don't you understand? They're after us all!” he screamed. I flinched at his voice. He never raised it at Ellen before.
The old lady herself could tell that something was wrong. She peered at my Dad as if to read him, then shook her head and disappeared into the hallway.
My heart was pounding loudly now. I could feel it. Whatever Dad was afraid of and running from was close. It was so close. It was... It was already here.
And with a mighty bang, my tight-security iron door fell to the floor like a weak wooden door.
lpha Chester's POV My chest was hurting badly. I could hardly even breathe. No, it wasn't the injury. That was mostly healed now. But it was the desolation that came with knowing I caused my mate's pain. Again. Her screams of terror kept echoing in my head, I could feel her heart beat as if it was inside me. That wasn't even the worst pain. The pain I felt knowing she absolutely hated it here and hated me for keeping her here was terrible. I knew what I had to do yet I couldn't do it. Yes, I was selfish. Yes, I was afraid of living the way I had the past decades. Yes, I wanted my mate by my side. I shut my eyes and dived down the cliff, into the blue-green waters below. There was a grotto waterfall close to the fortress I was always took a swim at. I hadn't been here since I came with Icelyn and was going to show her this place after her first assessment test. But I was here alone. “You know you can still catch a cold even as Alpha, don't you?” I heard the keeper's voice outside
Icelyn's POV Somewhere no one would look? Somewhere I specifically will not look?I could recall the Alpha had said we were only going to train around the marked perimeter and was blabbing on about territories and safety. I didn't really pay attention that night as I was half dozing. But if he expected me to have heard him that night, and to believe that he would take his word for it. Then he might have hidden the artefacts outside of the marked territory. No, really. No one would suspect he would go outside his territory to hide stuff. What if it got stolen since that place wasn't under his watch? People would think he would hide stuff under his nose where he could watch them. Well, not today. I wouldn't think that. “I think he has hidden them in the mountains,” I boldly declared, proud of myself. Now, how to search those mountains? I definitely couldn't scale them and I doubt he'd hide artefacts on top knowing I couldn't get there. ‘Wasn’t that the point?’ Oh he better not h
Alpha Chester's POV Something happened while I had my eyes closed. I was meditating, breathing in the icy air from the mountains around us and listening to the rustle of the leaves as they moved to the direction of the wind. When I saw her. She was right there in the fields with me, though I had never been here with her. She was wearing her signature colours. Black. She said she loved it even before it reminded her of me. She wore a headband around her straight dyed black hair and in her hand was a gun. I couldn't believe my eyes. She had never come to me all these years. So many times, so many nights, so many days I cried and begged her to at least show herself so I wouldn't lose memory of what she looked like, felt like. Yet she never came. She turned her back once and turned it forever. And yet here she was. Twenty years down the line after I had finally moved on from her and was on my way to finding fulfilment again. “Rave,” she called, her voice deep and cranky. Her voice
Icelyn's POV I couldn't understand my body's reaction to him. It was like it had a mind of its own. There were so many times I literally craved the Alpha like he was my favourite meal. Back at the pack house, I would wake up in the middle of the night and curl on my side, grabbing tight unto a pillow and sometimes even screaming into it just to forget how my entire body was crying for his touch. Just one touch. A slight touch. Heck, just his scent would do me good. He smelled so good, like pineapple. Did he know he smelled like pineapple? Or was I the only one who could smell it. Was I weird?Right now, those cravings I usually had for the Alpha's presence intensified. I couldn't control the way I wanted him to touch me more. To hold me longer. To dip lower than just my neck and collarbones. Some parts of my body were weirdly calling out for him. Would be touch me there? Should I let him touch me there?I groaned and rubbed myself against him as he sucked the space between my collar
Icelyn's POVMy entire body hurt as I stirred on a bed and tried moving my neck. Everything hurt, including my eyes as I tried prying them open. Thankfully, the room was not too bright so I managed to squint a little. If it was too bright, I'm afraid I would have left them closed considering my rel
Icelyn's POV“Tell me more about this rejection thingy,” I requested and edged closer, my chicken soup still warm in my hands.Rosa exhaled and cleared her throat.“We are a people with two phases to our soul. We can appear human-like, but we are, in fact, wolf shifters. Meaning we have wolves with
Icelyn’s POV My throat felt extremely heavy by the time I woke up. It was like I drank lava and it had cooled down along my throat. I opened my eyes and looked around the ceiling. An unfamiliar one this time. How many times have I woken up like this since I arrived this place? I was losing count
Icelyn's POVRosa had spent the rest of the day telling me a thousand and one reasons nobody liked Lady Azul in the Pack House. She was bossy, acted like she owned the place, downgrading and too egoistic. She wasn't even 'that' pretty. “From what I've heard, she had her face done in the human worl
