LOGIN“I hate you for bringing me here! I hate you for forcing me to live among wolves when I'm the only human. They all hate me! I am a prey, a pet, a weakling waiting to be devoured. How could you do this to me?” I cried as I stared the Alpha in the eye. I had just tried to escape again, but he caught me as always. There was something in his eyes. It was rage. Possessive and protective rage. “If anyone makes you feel insecure because you're human, I'll make sure their heads roll at their feet. Nobody is permitted to hurt you. Because you're mine. My mate. My Luna,” he replied. *** For 18 good years of my life, my father has kept me hidden from the outside world. Everything I wanted, he provided... Except to interact with people and live outside the walls of my wing in his mansion. All of a sudden, one night, he wants us to leave everything behind and flee. Flee from what? He won't say. Until strange men barge in and the leader of them has the face of the monster who has plagued my dreams every night for a decade. And then the monster proclaimed me his mate and took me away from the world I’ve ever known.

Today was my 18th birthday. 18 years in prison. 18 years without sunlight. 18 years of hiding from what I did not know and couldn't understand. Why? Why would I be hidden from the world like a diseased child? Why couldn't I just go outside like normal people my age could?
I should hate my father for locking me up since I was a child. But I couldn't. He's... He's still all I've got. And he loved me.
He never allowed me take pictures, but Ellen, my nanny, secretly owned a smartphone with all my pictures. We had no internet, but we surely wouldn't even use it even if we had. Because no one was supposed to know I existed. In fact, I did not exist.
I forced myself to smile at the pictures I was taking for Ellen. Maybe one day... One beautiful day... I'll escape this prison.
Ever since I was little, I could sense when bad things were going to happen. I knew when I was going to get hurt, or when Ellen's favourite plate was going to fall and shatter. Or when Dad was coming home in a bad mood. Like today.
After I heard him at the door, my heart began to pound.
“Ellen, Dad's not in a good mood,” I said as she was hurrying away to hide her phone.
“What do you mean? It's your birthday today. There's no way he'd be in a bad mood,” she argued as she hurried back. I clutched my dress and held my breath as I heard him impute the code to the hidden iron door leading to my wing of the house. I shook my head.
“He's in an awful mood,” I cried as I turned around to run to my room and lock my door.
“Icelyn!” Ellen scolded but I didn't want to stop running to my room. I heard the iron door pushed open as I entered the hallway to my room.
“Icelyn! Come out, we're leaving. Now!” My father's voice boomed as he sprang into the room. I halted in my tracks, just before my door.
Leaving? Why were we leaving?
“Icelyn! Icelyn!” He shouted.
“What is going on, sir? Where are you going? Today is her birthday, allow her some decorum!” Ellen nagged. She was not afraid of my father but respected him.
“Ellen, get a few things. We're leaving right now. Icelyn!”
My heart thumped in my chest. Leaving? But it wasn't summer. I was only allowed to hide in a secluded cottage in Scotland during summer.q1
I turned around and walked into my living room to see my Dad with a small bag across his back. He was still wearing his office suit and shoes and was drenched in what was obviously his sweat.
“Dad,” I called. He swiftly turned around to see me. He seemed to relax a tiny bit.
“Icelyn, get your things. We're leaving this city now!”
“Why all of a sudden? What's happening?” I asked. He trotted to me and held my shoulders.
“We are not safe here anymore. We have to go. Stop asking questions and grab a bag. I'll explain on the way or when we reach somewhere safe.”
He pushed me a little to head off and I nodded. I glanced at Ellen, who looked as puzzled as I was, before running off to my room. While I was busy packing, I could hear both my Dad and Ellen grabbing things and hurrying around. Soon, I was done and returned to the living room with a bag having all my necessities. Dad was looking at his watch and visibly shaking. He no longer looked like the daunting Governor he was. But a toddler frightened of his mother.
“Dad, please tell me what's happening!” I demanded.
“On the way. I promise I'll explain.” He took my bag from me and held my arm. Ellen showed up from the kitchen with a bag most likely full of rations. She did not joke about food and basic necessities.
“Ellen, your things. Let me help you pack,” I suggested but Dad jerked me towards himself.
“No. You stay here by my side. Ellen, grab whatever you can in five minutes. We have to leave here. Don't you understand? They're after us all!” he screamed. I flinched at his voice. He never raised it at Ellen before.
The old lady herself could tell that something was wrong. She peered at my Dad as if to read him, then shook her head and disappeared into the hallway.
My heart was pounding loudly now. I could feel it. Whatever Dad was afraid of and running from was close. It was so close. It was... It was already here.
And with a mighty bang, my tight-security iron door fell to the floor like a weak wooden door.
Alpha Chester's POV It enraged me that Reese had the guts to come back here just to cause the same havoc again. How dare he? Icelyn was too pure for him but of course, his demons needed something to taint. “Stop it! Stop it right now!” Icelyn yelled at both of us. I listened to her instantly and shoved Reese away from me. I glared at him and turned around to go to Icelyn. I tried to touch her but she jerked me off and stepped back. “Don’t touch me!” she said aggressively. Now I was confused. “Ice…”“What is your problem, Raven? What are you, an uncontrollable animal?” she blurted out and I frowned. She exhaled and looked away. “Okay, I'm sorry about what I just said but you really did put the words in my mouth. Look, Raven… look at my breakfast. On the floor. A minute ago I was having a really good time but look… all on the floor.” I looked around then back at her face. “I’m sorry,” I apologised and reached for her hand again, but she glared at me, and I withdrew immediately.
Icelyn's POV I was so eager to have breakfast that morning with my mate but he left me a message saying he had to be at a diplomatic meeting in another town by sunrise. It was an impromptu meeting, according to him, and he didn't want to wake me up to tell me. I replied to his message that next time he BETTER wake me up and tell me to my face he was disappearing or he wouldn't like me. He sent a photo of his laughing, cheeky face doing a salute, with the text: " Aye aye, captain. I dumped my phone on the bed and headed downstairs. Rosa met me halfway. “Oh, good morning Luna… did you—”I didn't wait for her to finish her sentence. I practically raced downstairs, my mood totally ruined. Imagine my anger when I entered the dining room and found Vince already seated, while breakfast was already served. Oh, Vince's face made me feel like punching something. His cocky smirk was the last thing I wanted to see this morning. “Oh look who we have here. If it isn't the star of the moment
Reese's POV It felt weird going through the gate after all these years. The security had changed from those there twenty years ago, naturally of course. New blood needed jobs, right? “Your identification,” a man's voice demanded through the intercom. I pulled out my pack ID and inserted it into the card slot. It went in and seconds later, three uniformed men marched out at me. “Step out of the car,” the one in front ordered and I calmly stepped out. “Turn around and lift your arms into the air.”I respectfully did as he ordered. He searched me, used some beeping machines to scan me and even sniffed me. “Turn around. Do you have an appointment? What is a man like you doing here at the pack house?” I frowned. “A man like me?” I asked. The man sized me up and down. “That’s right. A man like you.”I narrowed my eyes at him. What ID did I shove in there? I had numerous IDs for… different reasons. I wasn't sure which I put in there. “May I have my ID back?” I asked and stretched o
Reese's POV Arya was inconsolable. “I had her poisoned. I set up the protest. Oh, I can't believe I wanted to harm her before I even met her,” she cried in a not-so-quiet voice. I got on my feet and hurried to the door. Opened it to peep if there was anyone within earshot. I should have put a sound shield earlier when she first arrived. I summoned one anyway. “Kindly stop spewing nonsense,” I scolded and stooped low beside her. I turned her chair to make her face me. “Commissioner, Alpha Chester should never, ever, get to know you did any of those things to his mate. You are not the only one who wants to make things right with Zoey in this lifetime. We have blamed Raven heavily for her death all these years and he blames himself for not being a good enough shield for her while she was alive.” I exhaled and held the miserable woman's hands. “I saw how he turned into a savage that day at my pub. This Raven is not ready to lose his mate again, and it doesn't matter who
Icelyn's POVMy entire body hurt as I stirred on a bed and tried moving my neck. Everything hurt, including my eyes as I tried prying them open. Thankfully, the room was not too bright so I managed to squint a little. If it was too bright, I'm afraid I would have left them closed considering my rel
Icelyn's POV“Tell me more about this rejection thingy,” I requested and edged closer, my chicken soup still warm in my hands.Rosa exhaled and cleared her throat.“We are a people with two phases to our soul. We can appear human-like, but we are, in fact, wolf shifters. Meaning we have wolves with
Icelyn’s POV My throat felt extremely heavy by the time I woke up. It was like I drank lava and it had cooled down along my throat. I opened my eyes and looked around the ceiling. An unfamiliar one this time. How many times have I woken up like this since I arrived this place? I was losing count
Icelyn's POVRosa had spent the rest of the day telling me a thousand and one reasons nobody liked Lady Azul in the Pack House. She was bossy, acted like she owned the place, downgrading and too egoistic. She wasn't even 'that' pretty. “From what I've heard, she had her face done in the human worl
