Amalthea's POV

I tossed and turned on my bed as I begged sleep to claim me but to no avail. My eyes snapped open at every sound I heard coming from the hallway. I was scared and paranoid. My thoughts kept telling me if I dared to close my eyes, even for a second whoever had put the note on my dresser might come for me. They might try to finish the job and I would be lying helplessly in my bed. I tried to shut down my brain but nothing I did was working so in the end I laid on my back, staring at my ceiling.

"This is so messed up." I muttered frustratedly to myself. How could someone I didn't know wield so much power over me? How could they make me cower in fear like this?

The thoughts grated on my mind and I threw off my bed covers and stepped out of my bed.

"They don't get to have that kind of power over me." I muttered into the dark, to no one in particular.
