Chapter 26

It's been an hour since the chaos Aiden - Laura caused.

Laura was still in the infirmary, her Dad- Beta Harry and his mate, present.

Ryan and I were also present. Ryan's present since he saved and I, as a witness.

Alpha Caden and Luna Marylin were also present to watch the chaos their son had caused.

Beta Harry's eyes were glowing, as he stared at her daughter's unmoving body. His mate rubs his hand slowly to calm his angry wolf down.

Luna Marylin stared in horror, at what her son had done- almost killing a werewolf.

She attacked Ariana first. I had defended but Ryan had shut me off with a warning look while Beta Harry's angry eyes fell on me, making me squirm.

"And where were you when all these were happening?" Beta Harry suddenly turned to Ryan. Ryan's face shot up. "The principal had called. And based on what I heard she attacked his mate till the point she passed out. No werewolf would watch his mate treated like that. You have your mate right beside you, I think you'll understand more of what I'm saying" Ryan said at once, his voice curt.

Luna Marylin shook her head gently at him, telling him not to anger Beta Harry more.

Laura's mom rubbed his shoulders harder. "He's right Harry, it's not really Aiden's fault, and by the way, with the whole prophecy coming to pass, he seems to be more powerful and I don't think he has it under control!"

"Yes, that's right. He even hurt his own friend yesterday, I think he's finding it hard to control his temper" Luna Marylin said gently.

"Then keep your son under a leash!" Beta Harry growled.

"Watch your mouth, Harry!" Alpha Caden's voice thundered through the room, his eyes now red as his wolf threatened to come out. Beta Harry looked away, while Luna Marylin pulled Alpha Caden to her.

"It's fine, don't get mad" She said, pulling his face to her.

Laura suddenly moved, letting out a silent whimper. Beta Harry rushed to her at once."Laura" He muttered, his hands roaming through her face.

"Laura" Her mom- Aria called too.

Laura could only whimper, she couldn't speak..I looked away at once, she was in pain. She wasn't healing. What had gotten into Aiden, he wasn't the Aiden I knew anymore. Aiden would never hurt anyone- that didn't deserve it, Laura did deserve it, but he went too far.

After the pack doctor came over and checked her again, Laura could speak now, but slowly.

"Why am I not healing?" She seethed angrily.

"Calm down! This is what got you here, your temper!" Aria snapped.

"Hey.. don't yell at her" Beta Harry calmed her down. Laura rolled her eyes, her eyes landing on me.

Her teeth seething in anger, "What's she doing here?!" She snapped.

"This is not the time to point fingers at anyone, Laura. You need to heal" Alpha Caden cut in. "And how's that going? Your son did this to me!" Laura raised her voice and began gasping again, as she fell back to the bed.

Laura was so bold, how could she talk to the alpha that way?

My eyes widened slowly as I turned to Ryan. "When Aiden attacked you.. " I started and they all turned their attention to me, including Laura.

"You touched Ariana, right?" I asked. Ryan looked at everyone's face before replying. "Yes." He responded. "Why?"

"And he attacked Laura again after she attacked Ariana, could this be because of their mate bond? Is it always this extreme?" I asked.

"Yes, it can be" Alpha Caden responded this time around.

"What Aiden did was justified, werewolves can't handle seeing their mates helpless, we get feral and sometimes can't control our actions, and they're newly mated, the bond's stronger than ever" He replied. I nodded.

Ryan turned to me. "Why are you asking?" He asked.

I shrug my shoulders "I don't know, it's just, I've known Aiden for twelve years now, he isn't the kind to hurt anyone, especially not you Ryan. I think the mate bond is doing something to him. He didn't even glance at me when he took Ariana from me, Aiden would never do that" I muttered the last part but they all heard. Ryan cleared his throat.

"Actually.." He started.

"Alpha Caden.." He turned to Alpha Caden who focused on him immediately. "In the prophecy when Aiden was born, it says , the wrong mate for him could make his wolf feral, right? And he wouldn't have control over his wolf? And no alphas in ColdTown are allowed to have a chosen mate, right? Only a fated mate?" He asked. Luna Marylin looked at Alpha Caden, who cleared his throat.

"Yes, Ryan, all true. What are you driving at?" He said, his voice stern.

"Alpha, I think Ariana's not his fated mate but a werewolf his wolf chose." He said. "What?!" Alpha Caden face shot up.

Luna Marylin face became serious. "Ryan, if what you're saying is serious, then Aiden's in danger, and so is the future of this pack. The last alpha of ColdTown who had chosen a mate caused great damage to himself and everyone. That can't happen, it's a disaster" She explained, worry now evident in her voice.

"I don't think that's true. Aiden would never do that" I said.

"What if it was a mistake?" Ryan suddenly said and we all raised our brows.

"What if he meant to choose someone else but got confused and his wolf chose Ariana" He asked.

"That has never happened before" Alpha Caden responded.

"It can!" Laura cut in.

"I mean, I don't know, but it can. He wasn't in control of himself that night, I saw it, when we find our mate, were not in control, our wolves chose our mates, so his wolf could have chosen her. And moreover, everyone in the pack's saying he wanted to choose her before her twin sister came in the picture" She muttered the last part.

Luna Marylin raised her brows. "Her?" She asked. Laura looked at me. "Her."
