Chapter 25

I chuckled, then scoffed as I looked away. A smile played on my lips and I looked back at him. He was also smiling.

"Are you teasing me?" I asked, with a chuckle.

"I'm not.. you said you were over him" He said with a shrug, his grin widening. I burst into a laugh, looking away while he drove off.

And just like that, in days, I was able to laugh my predicament off. All thanks to Ryan.

We arrived at school, and thankfully, we weren't late.

"I need to go see the principal" Ryan said as we stopped at my locker. "I'll be back soon" He muttered and I nodded and waved him goodbye.

I sighed, opening my locker to bring out my books. As I brought them out, and slammed them close, I gasped, my heart almost flying out of my chest.

Lauren, her arms folded, her eyes, glaring at me.

"H..hi" I stuttered on my words, pulling my books to my chest in fear. She rolled her eyes. "It's the other one" She muttered.

"Hi.. wh..what do you want?" I cleared my throat. I wasn't scared of her, just intimidated. I straightened my posture. She must have noticed the sudden change in demeanor and she scoffed. Of course, she thinks I'm a joke. I am actually, I was no match for her.

"I'm not here for you, pretty face. I'm here for your twin sister who stole my mate!" Her face hardened.

My brows raised involuntarily. "Stole?" I said before I could stop myself. Her brows shot up as she dropped her arms and took two steps closer.

"Excuse me?" She said, curtly. "Um.. I, just.. she didn't steal, she's truly his mate" I managed to say. She scoffed.

"She? She's not..if anyone should be, it's me. It's the moon goddess prophecy, the future alpha would have the strongest female werewolf as his mate, and who's that?" She looked around, dramatically. "Me!" She snapped.

I nodded. "Sorry" I could only say. Her brows dimmed. "And you? What happened back there? He almost chose you as his mate, is something going on between you two?" She suddenly asked, and my eyes widened slowly.

"W..what? No.." I said, at once stepping back as she moved closer.

"Hmm, really?" She said, stopping on her tracks.

"You know, it would have been better if it was you. You wouldn't be much of a competition" She said and my brows shot up? Excuse me?

"So, you do see me as a competition" A voice suddenly says from behind before I could say anything.

Ariana.

She walked over to us, and stood beside me, crossing her arms. By now, people were now gathering around in the hallway at the scene. I looked around frantically. I didn't like this, too much attention.

"Ariana.." I tried to grab her arm but she only moved closer, standing in front of Laura whose brows raised slightly.

"What?.. scared now, huh?" A smirk played on Ariana's lips.

Laura laughed, loudly, looking around. She suddenly walked over to a girl. "She just asked if I was scared of her, crazy right?" She asked, while the girl nodded in fear.

Laura marched back to us. "You must think you're all that now, huh? Because you're his mate?" She gritted her teeth.

Ariana tucked her hair behind her ears. "Yeah, I am." She said, pulling her hair more to the side. I raised my brows. What was she..

I gasped inwardly, and everyone else around us gasped loudly. Her mark.

"He marked her"

"Oh my god, they're truly mates"

"He accepted her"

"She's the future Luna"

My head went blank as I stared at the mark, visible. She was marked, by him. She was his mate. He marked her, they..

I shook my head, back to the scene before me. Laura was gritting, and in a flash, she transformed, and roared, her roar filled the hallway. It was deafening. My eyes widened, and so did Ariana, she didn't get to recover when Laura grabbed her and in one fling launched her far outside, and Ariana slumped against the fence.

My eyes widened. I stilled. I couldn't move. Laura stood still, moving, her steps heavy against the floor. No one dared to stand before her. And in one flash, she charged again at Ariana, flying across the hallway to Ariana who groaned against the floor.

We all rushed outside immediately.

"Ariana!" I screamed as I pushed through the crowd. Laura now had her by teeth, dragging her through the fence and launched her again on the field. Ariana stumbled, her body cast lifelessly on the ground.

My mouth opened widely as I stared at my sister from afar, my feet stuck, I couldn't move.

"Ariana.." I called slowly. "Ariana!" I shouted, as I rushed to the field, the other students stood still, no one daring to move closer to a furious Laura.

I rushed to Ariana, "Ariana" I called slowly, pulling her up. "Ariana!" I cried. I looked up at Laura who was still in her wolf form, still furious.

"How dare you?!!" A roar suddenly came through the field, dust and wind blowing through the field immediately. And I fell covering my face, I couldn't see.

The strong wind blew, buildings shaking, windows breaking, screams filled the entire school as everyone ran, taking shelter.

"Arielle!" I heard Ryan's voice as he dashed to us. His eyes widened as he saw Ariana's lifeless body.

And before we could blink, Laura's wolf flew backwards, hitting a car, whose window shattered into pieces immediately, her body making a dent on the car. Her wolf gave a loud cry as it tried to stand, weak.

Aiden dashed to her lifeless body, and grabbed her leg, and in one swift move, broke her bones. "Argghhhh!!!!" Laura's wolf cried out.

He grabbed her other leg but Ryan kicked him off. "Aiden!!" He roared, now in his wolf form.

Aiden got back on his feet, only tilted his head sideways and in one flash, carried Ariana in his arms and was gone, like he was never here. But the chaos he had just caused, still lingering.

I turned slowly to Ryan who picked his torn clothes with his teeth, covering Laura who was now in her human form, and was out cold.
