Neriah POV

I came back to the house feeling dejected. My one shot to get out of that show fell through. It seems that in this life, I will still have to change my fate and be a part of that show.

Nila has been acting a little off since leaving the studio today. I think she is just as disappointed as I am, though. Hopefully, her spirits will lift soon. I will let her out for a run in a little while. First, food. I’m starving.

I walk into the house and see Jemisha celebrating something with Dad and Regina. I pass through the room, and Jemisha calls out. “Sister! I’m so excited! Did I forget to tell you that I am part of that new reality TV show? The one about claiming a worthy Luna?

Just like our past life. She joined, and then she had that snake put on the mountain to destroy me. “What a coincidence. So am I,” I said calmly, waiting for Regina to react. Without missing a beat, she started screaming like a banshee.

“WHAT?!” Regina said. “Withdraw! Right now! You are not going to ruin Jemisha’s chances at becoming a Luna!”

Jemisha looked at me with a wicked smile. “That’s right, sister. I heard Silas joined, and you ran right behind him and entered, too. I joined to make sure that you don’t embarrass yourself.”

“Silas entered? How wonderful for him,” I said.

“Withdraw, Neriah! You need to let your sister have this!” Regina screamed.

“I can’t. I’m contractually obligated, Regina,” I said, not giving her two seconds to continue screaming. “Unless you want to pay the penalty fees. It’s two hundred thousand dollars.”

“HOW MUCH!?”

“Page seven of eight. Termination clause. Read it for yourself,” I said, handing the contract to my father.

He read it, and his face turned red. He looked at me. “You joined such a competition without talking to us first?”

I laughed. “I’m certain that Jemisha didn’t talk to you first before joining. Why are you not scolding her? Or is your favoritism just that plain to see now? Besides, I’m eighteen. I don’t need your permission to join that show.”

I took the contract out of my father’s hands and folded it before tucking it into my back pocket.

“YOU UNGRATEFUL BRAT! WE SUPPORT YOU ALL THESE YEARS, AND THIS IS HOW YOU REPAY US!? BY BEING DISRESPECTFUL?!” the banshee screamed again.

I rolled my eyes. “Support? Fifty dollars a month, while Jemisha received fifty thousand a month. I have to use that fifty dollars to buy my own school supplies, food, and personal items every month. Honestly, your support is no better than giving a beggar spare change.”

My father looked at me strangely. “I set it up for you to get fifty thousand a month, too, Neriah.”

I laughed, pulled out my phone, and showed him my online banking deposits. “Am I lying?”

“Why didn’t you say something?” He asked.

“I did, and you said I was just trying to get extra. Now that you see the truth, why don’t you ask your precious Regina and Jemisha where that money went?” I asked and then continued, “What’s even more appalling is that you don’t even notice that I wear plain, thrift store clothes while your mate and demon spawn dress better than your eldest daughter. You are either blind or willfully ignorant. Which one is it, Father?”

Then I turned and went to my room. As I walked away, I said over my shoulder, “Don’t worry, though. Soon I will be out of everyone’s way.”

I went to my room and closed my door. My room is small. There is a twin-size bed, nightstand, and small dresser. Not that I need a dresser. I only have enough outfits for one week. I keep them clean, but still, it’s nothing compared to all the clothes Jemisha and Regina have. Some clothes sit in their closets with tags still on them.

I have to save from my fifty dollars just to afford shoes. I have one pair of sneakers, and very few clothes. Shifting requires planning. I can’t afford to rip my clothes apart during a shift. That’s why shifting alone was scary. I stripped a few minutes before midnight and hid my clothes. A rogue could have come out and hurt me. No one cared, though. Story of my life.

I sighed. I am going to leave this place. I am going to live this time. I want to find my own happiness. Search for my mate, and see what special gift I have with my mate. But before I can do any of that, I am going to make damn sure they all pay!

  • Luna's Prime Time Rebirth   Chapter 58: Dinner Guest

Neriah POVWhen I got to the restaurant, everyone was whispering under their breath. It was embarrassing and, more than anything, it was annoying. The only one not whispering was Heidi. She smiled and waved me over.I smiled gently and sat with her. She leaned over and whispered. “Don’t worry about the gossip hounds. They have nothing better to discuss.”“It has nothing to do with me. I don’t worry about the gossipers.”Jemisha cleared her throat. “Sister, where is the Prince? Did he skip dinner to enjoy his time with his fiancé?”I smiled. “What the Prince does has nothing to do with me. How would I know his plans?”Jemisha’s smile stiffened. “Oh, come now, sister. The Prince has been showing you special consideration. Everyone here has seen it. It’s okay to be upset. Honestly, I think any of us would be in your position. I bet you even daydreamed you could be the future queen.”I heard snickering under some of the contestants' breath. I sighed internally. “Jemisha,” I began. “Whether

  • Luna's Prime Time Rebirth   Chapter 57: Set Up

Ambrose POVWhen the reporter asked me that question, I was completely taken off guard. I am not engaged to anyone. Had I been, I never would have joined the show. I never would have pursued Neri. Well, that’s not true. She’s my mate. I mean, if I hadn't met Neri and didn’t know I had a fated mate, I certainly wouldn't have ended up on this show if I were engaged to Karissa. She is desperate to secure the title of Queen Luna, though. She brought those reporters and fed them a pack of lies. Matt is going to catch hell from me for not intercepting this sooner.“Let me be clear,” I began. “I have not now, nor have I ever been betrothed to Lady Karissa. I don’t know who shared this rumor, but I will seek legal action if it continues.”Karissa walked over to me. “Oh, Ames, you are being much too modest. Our families always intended us to be bonded.”She looped her arm in mine and smiled for the camera. “I’m an understanding woman. I know a man like Prince Ambrose wants to have his fun befor

  • Luna's Prime Time Rebirth   Chapter 56: Resting

Neriah POVWhen everything was said and done at the square, all the contestants loaded up into their respective vehicles and headed back to the hotel to shower and get ready for the results show. We were also all meeting downstairs for dinner.Once the results show is over, I know they are going to announce round four. That is an Alpha round. I won’t have to do anything except spectate. I remember this round very well. Lots of eye candy to be had. I know the other ladies will appreciate the view too. After getting in the vehicle, Ambrose grabbed my hand, and I immediately felt the electric jolts and warmth emanating from it. Today was a fun day; my instinct was to smile.“Your smile is beautiful, Neri.”I blushed. “Thank you,” I said shyly. He leaned over. “Not as beautiful as you blushing, though.”“Why do you always try to embarrass me?”“I’m not embarrassing you. I’m just making sure you are still affected by me,” he smirked. We sat in a comfortable silence for the rest of the trip.

  • Luna's Prime Time Rebirth   Chapter 55: In place

Neriah POVI’m still on the phone with the consignment store's vendors. Ambrose and I decided the best strategy was to create alliances between the individual vendors. We looked through the entire store and saw that the vendors complemented each other nicely. If we get their approval for a bundle, then we could sell more products on the first trip. We can list which vendors offered bundle discounts with other vendors and get larger purchases. We will advertise it as a harvest sale.“I have five vendor sets,” Ambrose said.“I have another three. We need the last two, but I can’t get through to them,” I replied.“I think we can make it work with the eight we have put together,” Ambrose said confidently. The store owner came out. “Your Highness, are you sure this is a good idea?”“We have these eight sets ready to go. They liked the idea, so we can certainly try. Remember, the more they buy, the bigger the discount. The max will be twenty percent off on purchases over one hundred,” he sai

  • Luna's Prime Time Rebirth   Chapter 54: Let the round begin

Jemisha POVMy heart sank when Silas didn’t pick me. I know the cooking round didn’t go to plan, but if I can’t get Ambrose, then I can at least secure Silas. We haven’t had a chance to be alone. He promised me that on my birthday we would mate, and it didn’t happen. Now he is choosing someone else to compete with in this round.I am stuck with Alpha Jace, and it’s clear he doesn’t like me. He is barely speaking to me. I tried to be nice and asked which storefront he would like to attempt, but he shrugged.“As long as you pull your weight and we don’t get voted off, I don’t care, Ms. Russell. I honestly would have preferred your sister.”That felt like a slap in the face to me. I’m not used to not being the center of attention, and Neriah is trying to act like she doesn’t want the attention. Which doesn’t track after the stunt she pulled on my birthday. She humiliated me with that used handkerchief. I heard the snickering.Ever since that night, Dad has also been on edge. He said that

  • Luna's Prime Time Rebirth   Chapter 53: Worthy Luna

Neriah POVAfter the birthday party, Ambrose spent time with me at the hotel. I really didn’t want to be bothered, but he has been really nice to me. He is my mate, and I don’t want him thinking I’m not interested. We are mates, so why wouldn’t I be? It’s just not the right time.I do ask for time alone, though. Ambrose can be…intense. It is Monday, and we are heading to the studio to begin round three. I know it’s the strategy round. I remember what this round was, and in my previous life, I didn’t place first, but this time I would, even with the immunity. As soon as everyone was gathered, Parker came up and clapped his hands, smiling. “Good morning, everyone, and welcome back to round three of ‘Claim the Worthy Luna’! Today is the strategy round. We are going to be on location today.”Everyone around us smiled and gave Parke an eager look. He threw a curveball, however, and I knew it was coming; this time, I don’t really know the outcome.“Okay, now, I have a surprise. One we didn’t
