I sighed. I bet everything was clear now.

“Miguel’s death was responsible for all this?” Ginevra queried dewy-eyed. “You weren’t even Miguel’s killer, I was…I killed him. Why did you have to undergo the torture for my mistake?” Ginevra teared up emotionally. I stood up and moved to the bed. I sat down beside her and held her close.

“I can’t ever put you in danger, sweetheart. How can I ever do that?” I expressed misty-eyed. “Mother entrusted your safety into my hands, I assured her I will take care of you. I can’t ever breach that,” I assured and sniffed. I didn’t want to cry with her. She shouldn’t be encouraged to cry further. I wiped away her tears. “We are okay now, dear. You just got to see me like…like I was involved in an accident and, uh, I underwent surgery to change my facial look because my older face was, perhaps, damaged,” I stated. She turned her head and looked at me.
