BUTTERCUP

What the hell was I supposed to do now?

I turned away from the cheering crowd, my legs were shaking as I did. Then a strong hand grabbed my wrist and pulled me hard.

“Come with me, now.” Draven’s voice was low and rough in my ear.

I didn’t fight with him, I couldn’t even if I wanted to. Not when my head was still spinning from watching him claim Seraphina in front of everyone. He dragged me through a side door into a dimly lit hallway away from the noise and my heart pounded so loud I was sure he could hear it.

“Draven, what the fuck was that?” I yanked my arm free the second we stopped, pressing my back against the wall. My voice cracked. “You were inside me thirty minutes ago. You kissed my forehead and promised you’d find me after. Then you walk in holding her hand like I’m nothing?”

He stepped close, towering over me. His silver eyes looked tired, but that didn’t stop the heat that was rolling off him. “Buttercup… it’s not that simple.”

“Not that simple?...Haa!!” I laughed, but it sounded broken. “You announced her as your Luna! The whole pack was cheering while I stood there like a fool. Tell me why you're begging me right now.”

Draven ran a hand through his messy black hair. “Seraphina is my fated mate. The Moon Goddess chose her for me, for the pack. Our alliance with her family will stop the blood war that’s coming. I don’t have a choice.”

“You always have a choice with me,” I whispered, tears slipping down my cheeks. I wiped them angrily. “You chose me every night for two years. You told me I was yours... Was that all bullshit?”

He slammed his hands on the wall on either side of my head, caging me in when I tried to leave. His breath brushed my lips. “It wasn’t bullshit. You know it wasn’t. But I’m the Alpha. People die when I put what I want first.”

I shoved at his chest, but he didn’t move. “Then why did you save me? Why did you fuck me like you couldn’t live without me if you were just going to throw me away?”

“Because I can’t stay away from you,” he growled. His hand slid down to grip my waist, pulling me flush against him. “Even now, after everything, I still want you so bad and it hurts.”

My body betrayed me. Heat pooled low even as my heart broke. “Then prove it. Tell me you don’t feel anything for her.”

Draven’s forehead dropped to mine. “I feel the pull. But it’s not the same, not like this.” His fingers dug into my hips. “Not like you, little one.”

I hated how much I needed to hear that. I grabbed his shirt and yanked him down, kissing him hard. I was angry and desperate as well. He kissed me back like a man drowning in lust, his tongue sliding against mine and his hands roaming under my dress.

“You still smell like me,” he muttered against my mouth. “My scent is all over you.”

“Good,” I shot back, biting his bottom lip. “Let her smell it too.”

He groaned and lifted me, my legs wrapping around him like they always did. He carried me further down the hallway into a small unused sitting room and kicked the door shut. In seconds my back hit the couch and he was on top of me, pushing my dress up around my waist.

“Draven…” I gasped as his mouth moved down my neck, sucking hard enough to leave marks. “Don’t you dare stop.”

“I should,” he said, but his hands kept moving, rough and needy. “I fucking should walk away right now.”

Instead he pulled my panties aside and pushed two thick fingers inside me. I cried out, back. “You liar. You can’t walk away now.”

“Neither can you.” He curled his fingers just right, watching my face. “Look at you. Still so wet for me even after I broke your heart.”

My tears mixed with the pleasure. I grabbed his shoulders and my nails digging in. “Because I’m stupid. Because I still love you, you asshole.”

He froze for a second, his eyes meeting mine. Then he kissed me again, deeper this time, almost gentle. His fingers kept working until I was shaking. I reached down and fumbled with his belt, freeing him. He was hard and hot in my hand.

“Inside me,” I demanded, my voice trembling. “Now, make me forget what I saw tonight.”

Draven didn’t hesitate. He thrust in deeply in one gentle stroke, burying himself completely. We both moaned and he moved hard and fast, like he was punishing both of us. The couch squeaked under us. My hands tangled in his hair and I pulled him closer.

“Say you’re still mine,” he growled against my ear, his hips spanking my ass.

“You don’t deserve that,” I panted, but my body clenched around him anyway. “Not after today.”

“Say it anyway.” He angled his hips, hitting that spot that made me see stars. “Please, Buttercup.”

I came hard, crying his name as tears rolled down my cheeks. He followed right after, groaning low as he spilled inside me. For a few moments we just breathed together as our bodies locked, his weight comforting and heavy on top of me.

Then reality crashed back in again.

Draven pulled out slowly and wore his clothes. He helped me sit up, smoothing my dress down with his gentle hands. His thumb brushed a tear from my cheek.

“I’m sorry, little one.”

The words hit harder than anything else I've heard that night. He stood up, already stepping back toward the door. His face looked torn, but he was leaving...Again.

I sat there on the couch as my legs were still shaky, his hot cum dripping down my thigh, I was watching the man I loved walk away after fucking me like he needed me to breathe.

“Wait...” I started, but the door slammed shut behind him.

I was alone, more confused than ever. And still completely attached to the Alpha who kept breaking me.

LILA "The meeting is already heated," I said at the mansion gates. "Seraphina's father is in there, tearing the sanctuary idea apart, piece by piece." Buttercup looked exhausted but unbroken, the shadows under her eyes betraying sleepless nights spent bracing for this fight. Then she let out a tired sigh. Asher stayed close to her, his shoulder pressed against hers. "The vision won't leave me alone. We have three months until the next test, and we're still fractured." Kai's gaze cut to Buttercup and held, searching relentlessly. "You good, Buttercup? You've been a ghost since the temple." She nodded once, though the exhausted look called her a liar. "Just thinking. I've got something to settle after this." Inside, the noise slammed into us...a wall of overlapping voices, accusations flung like weapons, tension thick enough to choke on. Pack members clustered in hostile knots, bodies rigid, eyes hard with suspicion. Seraphina's father stood at the front; his voice rose over

ASHERAT THE PACK"We need to leave now." I turned to Buttercup as the message from Draven hit the bond against my mind. "Seraphina's father is moving, and the pack meeting can wait a short time. There is somewhere I must take you first."Buttercup's green eyes narrowed, searching mine. "Asher, what's wrong? Your bond feels heavier than usual like you're bracing for something."I kept my voice steady, though the weight in my chest pressed harder with every second. "The temple. The place where I first felt the call to protect you. I need to face something there. With you. Now, before I lose the nerve."Kai glanced over from the truck, his patience was growing thin. "Go. We'll hold the line until you return. Don't make us regret it."Draven's nod was clipped, his tone edged with warning. "Make it quick. Trouble is gathering, and I can't stall Seraphina's father forever."Lila spoke. "I'll keep watch from the outer path."We drove in silence, tension coiling tighter with every mile, unti

KAI"I need to go alone for a bit," I told Buttercup as we left the meeting room. She widened her eyes. "Alone? After everything, you still shut me out?""It's not like that." I raked a hand through my hair. "There's somewhere I have to visit. This is something I should've done years ago."She stepped closer, her fingers gripping my arm. "Kai, Don't lie to me and call it nothing.""I'm not lying." My voice came out sharper than I intended. I softened, though the ache in my throat didn't ease. "It's just old ghosts. Come with me if you want. But part of this I need to do myself."Draven pushed off from the window,m. "Take your time. Just don't disappear on us again. We'll handle the pack's noise about the sanctuary, though it's already getting loud.""Loud how?" Buttercup asked, rounding on him. "You said you had it under control.""I said I would handle it. That's different from easy." Draven's tone stayed level, but the muscle in his jaw ticked.Asher's voice came as a warning. "Grie

BUTTERCUP "Send them in," I told the guard at the door. "Alone. No one else from the pack should enter."The messenger nodded and left. The neutral packs had come for me, not Draven. Kai stood near the window, his gaze fixed on the courtyard below. "Are you sure about this? They might try to use you. Or worse.""I have to do it," I said, forcing courage into my voice even as my stomach twisted violently. "If I keep standing behind all of you, nothing changes. I'll always be the thing that happened to Draven, never my own person.""That's not..." Draven started, stepping closer, his expression carefully controlled though I felt the fury coiled under it through our bond, hot and barely leashed. He stopped himself, then exhaled hard. "Fine. We'll be right outside.""They'll see that as weakness," Asher cut in sharply from his corner. "Hovering outside like guard dogs undermines everything she is about to say. Let her stand alone or don't pretend this is her choice at all."Draven's hea

DRAVEN The next day"The pack is waiting, Buttercup." I stood at the entrance to the main hall, my hand resting against her back. Buttercup looked up at me, her green eyes tired "They already saw what happened to the shadow keeper" She took a breath. "But yeah. They need to know I'm not just your mate anymore, and they will definitely hate it."Kai walked up. "The council is restless. Some are grateful. Others are scared out of their minds." He glanced toward the hall doors, lowering his voice to a whisper. "Seraphina's father is spreading poison in the corners. We have to shut that down before it spreads like wildfire."Asher joined us. "The bonds are stable. The shared pain from her trauma is there, but it's making us stronger...for now." He met my eyes, unflinching. "Use that in your words, Draven. Don't hide from it. They'll smell weakness before you finish the sentence."Lila stood guard at the door. "The pack needs to see her as Luna, and not a threat." Her expression softene

  • Luna's Rejection: Draven's Dirty Secret    Chapter 40: The Aftermath

BUTTERCUP The darkness lifted completely as the Shadow Keeper settled inside the bonds. I stumbled back toward the mansion. Every step felt heavier than the last, as though I carried the weight of what I had just done in my very bones. Draven caught me first, his strong arms wrapping around me with desperate urgency. "Buttercup," he breathed into my hair, his voice rough. "You scared the hell out of us. Don't ever walk into that alone again. Do you hear me?" Kai approached right behind him, his hand settling on my back with light pressure. Through our connection, I felt the echo of his terror, now fading into relief. I leaned into Draven's embrace, letting them surround me like a living shield. Their presence filled the hollow spaces the fear had left behind. "I feel different," I admitted. "Lighter. But the bonds feel heavier too. Like I gave you all pieces of my old pain, and now you're carrying what I couldn't anymore." Draven placed a kiss to the top of my head, lin

She can never know the full truth.” Draven’s voice came next, low a
