Mag-log inBUTTERCUP
I watched the door close behind Draven as he went to see Seraphina, and I felt my emotions finally snapping inside me. “Enough of this shit,” I muttered to myself, sliding off his bed. My legs still felt weak but I forced myself to move. I grabbed my dress from the floor and pulled it on, not caring how messy I looked. I wasn’t staying here like some pathetic toy he could use whenever he felt guilty. I stormed down the hallway to the small room I’d been staying in and started throwing clothes into a bag. “Why did you even save me, Draven? Just to make me worse than they did?” The door burst open behind me. I didn’t need to turn around to know it was him. “Buttercup, please stop.” “Get out,” I said without looking at him, shoving another shirt into the bag. My hands shook as I did. “Go be with your Luna. I’m done.” Draven stepped inside and shut the door. “You’re not leaving here.” I spun around with my eyes burning. “Why the hell not? You made your choice. You fucked me twice and still ran to her. Tell me why you saved me two years ago if this is how it ends. I deserve more than this.” He moved closer, his big frame filling the room. The claw tattoo on his chest was still visible from our earlier time together. “I saw you that night and you were bleeding and barely alive, being dragged by those low-life wolves who bought you. I couldn’t just walk away.” Then I said. “So you brought me here, fucked me, made me fall in love, and now you throw me away? Great plan, Alpha.” Draven reached for my arm but I jerked back. “It wasn’t like that. You were different. You still are.” “Different how?” I stepped closer, poking his chest hard. “Different enough to hide? Different enough to fuck but not be chosen? I need to know, Draven. Why save a broken human girl just to destroy her?” He grabbed my wrist, not hard but firm. His eyes searched my face. “Because the moment I pulled you out of that hellhole, I knew you were mine. Even if the pack rules said I couldn’t keep you.” Tears stung my eyes and I tried to pull away but he held on. “Then why does it feel like you’re killing me now?” Draven’s other hand moved to the back of my dress. Before I could stop him, he slowly unzipped it. The fabric slid down my shoulders and I froze, breathing fast. “Don’t,” I whispered, but my voice broke. He turned me around gently. His fingers traced the faded scars across my back. The ugly marks from belts, from whips, from the people who were supposed to protect me. “Who did this to you?” His voice was low, almost shaking. I closed my eyes and the memories flooding in through the touch. “The first person was my father, Then when he sold me to those wolves… they were worse. They said a human like me only existed to breed strong pups. Every time I fought back, they made sure I paid.” Draven’s fingers kept moving over the scars, slow and careful, like he was trying to memorize every line. “I killed them... All of them. The ones who hurt you.” I turned back to face him, dress half fallen, tears running down my cheeks. “Then why couldn’t you fight for me? Why save me from them only to hand me this kind of pain?” He pulled me against his chest, his arms wrapping around me tight. “Because my father chose love over the pack. He picked a human woman and it got him killed. Got half of our people killed. I can’t do that to everyone who depends on me. But fuck, Buttercup...seeing these scars again makes me want to burn everything down.” I hit his chest weakly. “Then burn it or let me go. Stop holding me here like this.” “I can’t let you go.” His voice got rough. He tilted my chin up and kissed me. This time it was slower, deeper, full of all the things he wouldn’t say out loud. I kissed him back even though it hurt. My hands gripped his shoulders as he lifted me onto the bed. We didn’t rush this time. He laid me down and kissed every scar on my back, whispering “I’m sorry” against my skin between each one. “You make me feel safe and worthless at the same time,” I said, my voice cracking as he moved over me. “How do you do that?” Draven looked down at me, his eyes full of conflict. “Because I’m selfish. I need you even when I know I should stay away.” We moved together slowly this time...Not just sex but closer to it. Every touch, every whisper made the tears fall harder. I held onto him like he was still my savior, even while knowing he was also the one breaking me. “I hate that I still love you,” I whispered against his neck as pleasure built. “I know,” he breathed, holding me tighter. “I know, little one.” For those few minutes, it felt like maybe he really saw me...All of me. The broken parts and everything. Then the door suddenly opened. “Well, well, well,...” a smooth female voice said from the doorway. “Am I interrupting the show?” Seraphina stood there in her red gown, her arms crossed, and she wore a nasty smirk on her perfect face as she looked at us tangled together on the bed.DRAVEN "Get Buttercup. Now! We have company at the gates." I stood at the front of the mansion, watching the western pack banners approach. "Alpha Silas? This isn't a social visit."Marcus nodded and bolted, his boots slamming against the gravel path. Kai and Asher flanked me within minutes, their expressions hardening as they took in the banners snapping beyond the gates. Buttercup arrived fast, her hair still damp from whatever she had abandoned when Marcus found her. "Who is it?""Silas," I said. "Alpha Silas from the Western territories. He is nothing like Asher's people. He wants something, and he wants it badly enough to show up uninvited."The gates opened with a low groan. Silas came in with a small guard with that confident smile stretched too wide which complimented his tall looks. He bowed just enough to spark an insult."Draven. Buttercup. I've heard remarkable things about this pack." His gaze raked over us and snagged on Buttercup, lingering far longer than was allowed
ROSE (The first resident)"Please. Just let me stay one night. I can't go back out there." My voice cracked as I stood inside the new wards, my arms wrapped tight around myself as if I could hold my own body together by force. Everything hurt. The empty place where the mate bond used to be burned like a hole, raw and endless, and I didn't know how to breathe around it, didn't know if I even wanted to.Buttercup stepped closer like she was approaching a wounded animal that might still bite. "You're safe here Rose. No one will force you out. Sit. Drink something. Talk if you want...Or don't."I shook my head. "Talking doesn't fix it. He broke the bond on purpose. In front of everyone. And said a human wasn't worth the risk. The magic ripped and I felt it tear. Now there's nothing left inside, and you all just stand there talking about tea."Kai hung back a little, his expression unreadable. "We have seen broken bonds before. They can heal differently and not the same. But it can't be em
BUTTERCUP "Yes," Draven answered to the young wolf Toren in the hall. "Secondary mate bonds outside the pack are allowed if both consent and the bonds stay stable. The new structure applies to everyone and not just us." Toren bowed his head, relief softening the tension in his shoulders. "Thank you, Alpha. I won't waste it." The hall erupted again, louder this time. Some cheered. Others surged forward, shouting that the pack would lose everything, their voices sharp with old fears and older hatreds. One man spat on the floor. I stepped forward beside Draven, feeling the weight of every hostile eye in the room. "We'll move forward," I said, clear and loud, forcing steel into words that wanted to shake. "The safe place journey starts now. It's going to be for people like me that want real safety." "Traitor to the old ways," someone shouted from the back, and Draven's growl silenced the room before I could react. Kai grinned despite the tension, that familiar spark of mischie
DRAVEN "The meeting starts now," I said, walking into the main hall with Buttercup, Kai, Asher, and Lila at my side. "The pack demands answers about the bonds, the pregnancy, and the safe place."The hall filled fast, tension crackling through the gathering crowd like static before a lightning strike. Elders claimed the front rows, their faces set in hard, unreadable lines. Warriors lined the walls. Seraphina's father stood with a bunch of traditionalists, their arms were crossed, his eyes burning with fury. Neutral observers from other packs watched from the back, murmuring among themselves.I stepped onto the platform, feeling the weight of every gaze settle on me. "Black Moon Pack. Listen well, because I won't repeat myself. Lila is pregnant. The child carries traits from all of us. Secondary mate bonds are real and accepted in this pack. The safe house idea stands. These are the new facts, and they aren't up for debate."An elder shot to his feet, his voice gravely from age. "Al
LILA"I'm pregnant. How the hell did this happen?" I whispered. My stomach seemed to mock me, and my mind refused to accept what my eyes confirmed. "This wasn't the plan."Kai sat beside me on the bed, his hand covering mine, but even his warmth couldn't stop the tremor running through my fingers. "You're not alone in this. I promise you.""Don't." The word cracked like a whip. "Don't you dare tell me it's fine when you have no idea if it is."Buttercup knelt in front of me, concern etched on her face. "Lila, breathe. We felt it through the bonds at the same moment. It's real, whether you accept it or not." Her tone sharpened. "We'll handle whatever comes, so stop shutting us out before we've even started.""Handle it?" I shot back, my voice rising. "This isn't a training exercise, Buttercup. This is my body, not some mission you can strategize your way through."Draven stood by the window, his silhouette carved from stone against the weak light. "A child in this bond web is a new ter
BUTTERCUP "The secondary bond is sealed," I said as we stood together in the quiet room after the pack meeting noise faded into memory. "I feel it through everything. Kai and Lila."Kai kept his arm around Lila, his thumb tracing slow circles against her shoulder. "Yeah. It feels solid. Different from the trinity, but strong like something just clicked into place that I didn't know was missing."Lila's gaze locked onto mine, hunting for cracks I might try to hide. "You okay with this, Buttercup? Really? Because I need the truth, not just something you're saying because the bonds force you to."Her tone caught me off guard, an edge I hadn't expected. I took a breath, letting the question settle before I answered it honestly. The jealousy was there, sharper now under her scrutiny, a splinter under calmer feelings I couldn't quite smooth over. Kai had always been the free one with me, unclaimed by anyone else in quite this way. Now his focus had another center, another gravity pulling
BUTTERCUP What the hell was I supposed to do now?I turned away from the cheering crowd, my legs were shaking as I did. Then a strong hand grabbed my wrist and pulled me hard. “Come with me, now.” Draven’s voice was low and rough in my ear. I didn’t fight with him, I couldn’t even if I wanted
BUTTERCUP I covered my mouth with the back of my palm and I was barely breathing. “A human? Don’t be ridiculous,” Seraphina said below me. “But if you’re serious about this double mate bond thing with her, we handle it quietly. She can never know the full truth.” Draven’s voice came next, low a
“Well, well, well...” Seraphina said again, her voice dripping with fake sweetness. “Am I interrupting the show?”I froze under Draven, my dress still bunched around my waist, his body covering mine as heat rushed to my face as I tried to push him off. “Get off me.”Draven sat up fast, shielding me
BUTTERCUP I sat there on that damn couch, my legs still trembling and his words ringing in my ears. “I’m sorry, little one.” The door had barely closed behind Draven before I jumped up. My dress was wrinkled, my thighs sticky, and my chest felt like someone had punched a hole right through it.
