BUTTERCUP

“Harder Draven, don’t you dare hold back tonight,” I said.

I gasped the words against his neck as he pinned me to the wall in the side room, my legs wrapped tight around his waist. His large arms gripped my thighs and his fingers were digging in just right. The full moon was already pulling at him, making his silver eyes glow hotter than usual.

“You’re mine, Buttercup,” he growled low, his voice was rough like gravel. “Say it again.”

“I’m yours,” I moaned, my nails scraping down his bare back. “Only yours.”

He thrust deep, stealing my breath. The music from the main hall thumped through the walls, but all I could hear was his ragged breathing and the slapping sound our bodies produced. He kissed me like he was starving, biting my bottom lip, then soothing it with his tongue. For two years, these stolen moments kept me alive. The ruthless Alpha who ran the whole damn city turned gentle only for me. Or at least that’s what I believed.

“Fuck, you feel so good,” he muttered against my throat, his hips were snapping faster. “I can’t get enough of you.”

We finished hard and fast, the way we always did before pack events. He helped me fix my dress, his fingers surprisingly soft as he brushed my messy honey-blonde hair behind my ear.

“Stay back,” he said, not meeting my eyes fully. “I’ll find you after.”

I smiled up at him full-heartedly like an idiot. “Promise?”

Draven leaned down and kissed my forehead. “Promise, little one.”

He left first, like always and I waited for him for five minutes, then slipped out and joined the crowd in the grand hall. The pack house was crowded. It was a full moon gathering like it always was. There were werewolves in sharp suits and expensive dresses who laughed and drank while the scent of moonflower incense hung thick in the air. I kept my head down, playing the quiet human servant everyone thought I was. Only Draven and I knew the truth.

I stood near the back wall, my heart still racing from our quickie. My thighs ached pleasantly. Every time he touched me, I fell deeper. He saved me from hell two years ago. Took me in when no one else would. Made me feel wanted. Desired and loved, even if we had to hide it.

The room suddenly quieted. Draven stepped onto the raised platform at the front, he was tall as hell at 6’5”, his muscles filling out his black shirt perfectly. That claw tattoo on his chest peeked out from the open collar.

He's my Alpha...My everything.

I smiled softly, waiting for him to look my way.

Then he extended his hand.

And a tall woman with sleek black hair and icy blue eyes took it, stepping up beside him as if she belonged there. She wore a blood-red gown that hugged every curve. She is the one whom they called 'Seraphina Voss'. I knew her face from the pack photos. She's the daughter of an allied mafia family. She's very beautiful in that cold, sharp way that made men nuts.

I felt my stomach twist in a way that wasn't diarrhoea, it was obviously from seeing her.

Draven’s voice boomed across the hall, strong and commanding. “Tonight, under the full moon, I present my fated mate.”

The crowd gasped and then erupted into cheers.

No. No, this wasn’t happening.

He lifted her hand higher. “Seraphina Voss will be your new Luna. The Moon Goddess has spoken and our packs will unite under this bond.”

Everyone clapped and howled. Someone popped a champagne. I couldn’t move, I couldn't feel my legs. My legs felt nailed to the marble floor. The same man who had been buried inside me twenty minutes ago now held another woman’s hand and smiled at the crowd like everything was perfect.

Seraphina leaned in and whispered something in his ear. He nodded, then scanned the room slowly.

Then our eyes finally met.

For one second, something raw flashed across his face. Could it be pain? Or regret? It was gone so fast I might have imagined it. His silver eyes locked on mine across the sea of happy werewolves. My chest tightened so much that I thought my heart would stop.

'Why?' I wanted to scream. 'You promised.'

Instead, I stood there frozen, tears burning my eyes and the room spun. The cheers sounded far away. All I could feel was the ghost of his hands on my skin and the cold slap of reality hitting me.

Draven looked away first, turning back to Seraphina and pulling her closer.

The crowd chanted “Luna! Luna!...” while my world burned down around me.

I pressed a hand to my stomach, fighting the urge to throw up right there in front of everyone. The man who saved me...The man who fucked me like I was his whole world just minutes ago. He had chosen her in public without warning me.

My breathing came too fast and the scars on my back from my old life started itching, reminding me exactly who I was...just a human girl who never deserved an Alpha.

Draven glanced my way one last time. That same flicker of pain crossed his face before his expression went blank again to a cold expression.

I couldn’t breathe BECAUSE what the hell was I supposed to do now?

DRAVEN The next day"The pack is waiting, Buttercup." I stood at the entrance to the main hall, my hand resting against her back. Buttercup looked up at me, her green eyes tired "They already saw what happened to the shadow keeper" She took a breath. "But yeah. They need to know I'm not just your mate anymore, and they will definitely hate it."Kai walked up. "The council is restless. Some are grateful. Others are scared out of their minds." He glanced toward the hall doors, lowering his voice to a whisper. "Seraphina's father is spreading poison in the corners. We have to shut that down before it spreads like wildfire."Asher joined us. "The bonds are stable. The shared pain from her trauma is there, but it's making us stronger...for now." He met my eyes, unflinching. "Use that in your words, Draven. Don't hide from it. They'll smell weakness before you finish the sentence."Lila stood guard at the door. "The pack needs to see her as Luna, and not a threat." Her expression softene

  • Luna's Rejection: Draven's Dirty Secret    Chapter 40: The Aftermath

BUTTERCUP The darkness lifted completely as the Shadow Keeper settled inside the bonds. I stumbled back toward the mansion. Every step felt heavier than the last, as though I carried the weight of what I had just done in my very bones. Draven caught me first, his strong arms wrapping around me with desperate urgency. "Buttercup," he breathed into my hair, his voice rough. "You scared the hell out of us. Don't ever walk into that alone again. Do you hear me?" Kai approached right behind him, his hand settling on my back with light pressure. Through our connection, I felt the echo of his terror, now fading into relief. I leaned into Draven's embrace, letting them surround me like a living shield. Their presence filled the hollow spaces the fear had left behind. "I feel different," I admitted. "Lighter. But the bonds feel heavier too. Like I gave you all pieces of my old pain, and now you're carrying what I couldn't anymore." Draven placed a kiss to the top of my head, lin

BUTTERCUP "I'm done with this deadlock." I shot, my voice ringing louder than I'd intended in the tense room. The sound seemed to bounce off the walls, making everyone freeze. "You all want to die for me. I won't let that happen. I'm going to the Shadow Keeper. Alone." Draven's hand closed around my arm. "Buttercup no," he said. "That's suicide. We just sealed the bonds." Kai moved to block the door, his broad shoulders filling the frame. "Listen to him," he urged, his eyes pleading. "You felt what it does. It tears bonds apart. You can't face it alone." Asher's eyes met mine, and I saw fear flashing under his usual composure. "The risk is too high," he said. "Your power is new. Let us prepare first." Lila gripped her blade so tightly. "I'm your guardian," she insisted, her jaw was set. "If anyone goes first, it's me." I pulled my arm free from Draven's grasp and looked at each of them in turn. Their faces showed the same mixture of fear and determination, and I felt my res

DRAVEN I felt her pull away through the bond, and the sensation hit like claws raking across my chest, tearing through muscle and bone. "Buttercup, it's not what you think," I said quickly, stepping closer despite the pain radiating through our connection. My voice came out rough, scraped raw with desperation. "No one's giving you up. I was thinking about the journal...the sacrifice part. One of us has to surrender immortality to banish this thing."Every instinct screamed at me to protect her, yet here I stood, discussing which of us would die. Kai rubbed his face, exhaustively. "Yeah. Mara and I wrote extensive notes on it. But it might kill whoever does it, not just strip away immortality. We're talking about full death." His voice cracked on the last word, betraying the fear he tried to hide. Asher remained calm, though I caught the tension in his shoulders. "The research remains incomplete. We lack certainty. But the prophecy points to loss, to sacrifice. Someone must choose

  • Luna's Rejection: Draven's Dirty Secret    Chapter 37: The Shadow Keeper Manifests

BUTTERCUP "The Shadow Keeper is already here?" I gasped, then my fingers tightened around Lila's arm as the mansion's lights blinked overhead. Shadows stretched unnaturally long across the walls, defying the afternoon sunlight that should have kept them at bay. My pulse hammered in my throat. "Lila, your guardian mark...it's glowing. What do we do?" Lila gripped her blade tighter, the mark on her wrist pulsing with an unnatural light that cast dancing patterns. "We fight it," she said, trying to mask her fear with confidence. "The bond is pulling me toward the city center. It's starting with the other bonded wolves there." Draven paced with predatory speed, as his control wavered. The alpha power radiating from him filled the room with tension. "The pack borders are reporting strange occurrences, about people losing their minds, and attacking loved ones. We need to move now." Kai checked his gun, though I noticed how scared he was. "The corruption is spreading through the pack li

LILA "The Shadow Keeper is hours away?" I burst into the sacred chamber, my wrist burning where the new mark had appeared, the pain sharp and insistent on my skin. "You three just finished sealing the trinity, and now this thing is practically at our gates?" Buttercup turned toward me first, her eyes widening with concern. "Lila, your wrist. That mark...what is it?" I held up my arm, revealing the glowing circle that was marked into my skin, its light pulsing in rhythm with my heartbeat. "It's the Guardian bond. It activated the moment you guys completed the trinity. I'm connected to you now Buttercup. And through you, to them." The words felt strange on my tongue, as if speaking them aloud made the reality more foreign. Draven stepped closer, his eyes narrowing with suspicion. "Guardian? Like some kind of protector standing on the sidelines? We don't need bystanders right now. We need everyone to be fully committed to this fight." "Easy Draven. Lila has been fighting alongside u
