Phil's pov

I stared at the blood that seeped out of the rogue's mouth and made a map on the floor. My jaw ticked as I recalled her resistance and I wished I could bring her back to life just to have the satisfaction of seeing her die all over again.

"What now Alpha?" One of my men asked me as I rinsed my hands in a clean basin of water.

"Now we go to South Moon block" I replied with one last glance at the lifeless body before I made my way out of the dungeon.

"Clean up that mess" I ordered the guards standing at the door.

The rogue wolf was loyal to whoever she served and their cause. She was unwilling to give up any more information. The only hope I had to get some answers at the moment was to go to the southern moon block.

I wasn't sure what exactly I was looking for or what I would find there but only time would tell.

I slowly made my way into my house and my nostrils flared at the aroma of spicy food that attacked my senses.

Vera, I knew she was in the kitchen.

"You are back early" She smiled softly at me as I entered the kitchen. She was the image of loveliness with her hair tucked in a little bonnet and a spoon in one hand as she gripped the pan with the other and stirred whatever it was she was cooking.

"I told you already, you don't need to cook" I furrowed my brows and her smile dimmed.

"I enjoy cooking. It's a favorite pastime of mine and I have nothing else to do" She shrugged as she turned back to the cooker, hiding away from me. I instantly felt bad.

"There are many charity events which Luna's are expected to host and attend across different Packs. You could look into what interests you" I suggested.

"I think I would prefer to learn more about the Pack first before I venture out to other Packs. I'd like a tour of the Pack but if you are too busy I could go on my own" she said as she turned off the cooker.

"The Pack already knows you as their Luna. You are their superior and you aren't expected to mingle among them" I retorted.

"How am I expected to lead them if I know nothing about them? How can I earn their respect if I don't work among them?" She looked at me desperately.

"You don't need to earn their respect. Once you became their Luna it was yours" I countered.

"Maybe we could have a picnic then?" She tried again and I raised a brow at her.

"I am busy handling important matters" I shot her down and I saw hurt flash in her eyes.

"I'm lonely and out of my mind here. I am in a Pack where I know no one except you, and I barely know you, I have no one to talk to and I'm cooped up here most of the day with no idea what is expected of me" she expressed.

"I didn't marry you for a love match. I needed a Luna" I reminded her.

"I haven't asked for your love, only your company. I simply wish to get to know the man I will be spending the rest of my life with" she complained.

"You know me well enough. Your only duty is to provide me with an heir, that is your sole duty which you seem unable to do. Leave the Pack to me, I am more than equipped to handle any issues which may arise" my voice boomed loud and clear.

I was getting restless and tired of waiting for news that Vera was with child and I knew so were the grand Pack committee.

"An Alpha is merely a pup without an heir" my father's voice echoed in my mind from the last meeting we had four months ago.

I had to have an heir and soon to carry out our legacy, more so now that attacks have been made on my Pack.

She stared at me silently for several moments, her eyes watering before she gave me a nod and turned back to the food.

"I made dinner" she muttered and I let out a breath of relief knowing she had dropped the subject.

"I'm not hungry," I replied.

"I will be going to the southern moon block" I informed her after a moment and she stiffened before turning to me.

"Why?" She asked.

"I have some business to attend to" I replied curtly, my tone left no room for arguments.

"Am I to go with you?" Her eyes shine with hope.

"No, I am going with as few men as possible. You can stay here and Daniel, my beta, will help oversee the Pack" I informed her as her eyes dimmed immediately.

"When do you leave?" She asked.

"As soon as I'm able to set everything up for the trip. Let's say in a few days time" I divulged and she nodded wordlessly.

"Are you visiting my room this evening?" She questioned and my stomach dropped. This was what our marriage had become in a mere six months. Our coupling was more of an obligation rather than an act of pleasure and from the distant look on her face whenever I spilled my seed into her I knew she felt the same way as I did.

"As I said before, we keep trying until I know you are with child," I told her calmly and my jaw ticked at the look of despair that flashed into her eyes.

"If I disgust you so much you might as well get pregnant as fast as possible" I sneered.

"I'm trying" she whispered without refuting my words.

At a loss for what more to say I made to leave the kitchen.

"And Vera?" I stopped right in front of the door.

"I don't need you preparing my meals. I have a cook to do that. Don't try anything funny while I'm gone as you'll be punished like ay other Pack members if I receive any I'll report about you when I return" I said before exiting the room.

Anger cursed through me and I knew the only way to relieve myself was to go on a run. I felt my walls closing in on me, I felt a weight pressed down on my shoulders as I recalled the grand Pack committee asking me when my mate would host the next hunt. I couldn't tell them she never would because she is wolfless but the noncommittal grunt I gave them in response did nothing to get them off my shoulder.

They were starting to ask questions like why my mate hadn't transformed since she came to the Pack, questions I didn't have answers to.

I began to wonder if marrying Vera was the right choice. She had brought me more problems instead of relieving them and that was the last thing I needed at the moment.

I broke out into a jog and after a few moments, my wolf clawed at me, begging to be set free.

I was so crammed up with work, that I hadn't left my wolf out in a while.

Without breaking my stride, I transformed into my wolf and dashed deeper into the woods. My wolf howled out into the night and just like that I pushed all my worries, all thoughts of Vera and the grand Pack committee to the back of my mind.

Andrew's POVI was such a fool to think I'd be happy by causing her to feel a little bit of jealousy. Hoping she'd finally come to agree with her feelings for me. But she was good at hiding it—good at feigning that having another woman by my side wasn't hurting her as much as it hurts me.“How long do you need to think about it?”"What?” I asked, a spoonful of my meal midway from my mouth. I had barely heard Diana's question. But she didn't mind repeating herself. “You said you wanted to think about mating with me, but you never told me how long I should wait?”I snorted, "Don't tell me you were expecting an answer tonight.”She shrugged, "Maybe.”"I just think we have to know each other properly before anything else.”She nodded. "I hope that won't take so long.” She said, taking up her glass of wine as she sipped it, glaring at me seductively through the rim of her glass."But what else would you like to know about me? Apart from the other things I told you earlier."“Why don't you

  • Luna’s Second Chance    Chapter 00113

Vera's POVI should have been happy for him—but instead, I was at war with my feelings. Every ache in my heart revealed just how deeply the news saddened me. It was good news, and yet it left me drowning in sorrow.I reminded myself of what mattered most to ease the heaviness pressing on me: I wanted Andrew free of his curse. The cure was finally here. I had to be happy for him, even if the very thought tore me apart inside—even if I was nothing but a coward to admit that I wanted him.I watched from my bedroom window as Rick’s car pulled into the driveway. The moment he parked, a woman stepped out—a lady with chestnut-brown hair styled neatly yet regally, her figure draped in a beautiful gown that caught the morning sunlight with every movement.I hated to admit it, but she was beautiful and she looked like a lady from a noble house. I sank on my bed, thinking of how stupid I was for not admitting my true feelings. But regrets are only a waste of time; I can't undo my mistakes now, a

Andrew's POV“A silver She-wolf?" My mind reeled. That was all I could fathom at that moment: the news's impossibility. For so many years, the search for a silver She-wolf—for a cure, had been futile, and suddenly—it exists. Was the moon goddess playing a joke on my life?Just when I had given up. Just when I allowed myself to love someone freely, she decided to dangle the solution to my curse before me.“When should I bring her to you?" Rick asked as he closed the door behind him.I moved towards my window, staring out but not really seeing anything. I tried to think deeply about the whole thing again. It was like a dream to me, like the impossible had somehow stepped into reality.I turned back to him, my voice sharper than intended. “First things first, how are you sure she's the real thing?" I asked, failing at controlling the panic in my voice."She's the real thing,” Rick answered reassuringly. His voice was gentle and calm, and the quiet certainty in his eyes was as though he

  • Luna’s Second Chance    Chapter 00111

Vera's POVThe scorching sun pressed against my skin as I stood on the training field, watching Andrew’s armies move with relentless vigor. Every swing of their swords glittered in the light, every grunt echoed like thunder rolling across the grounds. They weren’t training like recruits—they were fighting like the war was already here.Andrew stood beside me, arms folded, his presence as commanding as the field itself.“What do you think of them?” he asked, tilting his head slightly, his eyes narrowing against the brightness. Even squinting, he carried that dangerous, tempting look that always left me unsettled. His blue eyes shimmered like the ocean, and for a heartbeat, I almost forgot to answer.“Good,” I replied finally, nodding as I forced my attention back to the sweating warriors before us. “They’re vigorous… ready for battle.”He pressed his lips together, his arms tightening across his chest. The tunic he wore stretched over his broad frame, his muscles defined beneath the fa

  • Luna’s Second Chance    Chapter 00110

Lucy's POVIt would've been impossible to take down a man taller than me in a fair fight, so I didn't fight fair. I struck when he least expected it. My claws tore deep into his skull.Poor Jacob—he had tried to fight— but lost. I'd thought he would be smarter, but he fell right into my little trap, and I was the one walking away now. Maybe I should have thought of this a long time ago. After the deal was done, I covered his body with a heap of grass but it was a temporary disguise. By nightfall, the wild beasts would find him and any trace of him would be gone.I wiped my hands with a napkin until the fabric could hold no more. The blood had dried into a dark crust that fought to come off, but I scrubbed until my palms were raw and the worst of it was gone. I climbed into the car and drove back to the pack like a woman who had merely been delayed, not like one who had buried a man in the dirt.Lanterns burned along the lodge when I pulled in. Voices rose and fell like nothing had cha

  • Luna’s Second Chance    Chapter 00109

Lucy's POVMy eyes slowly opened to the light from the new day's sun coursing through the tall glass door. I stirred, reaching for Phil’s warm body beside me, but the space awakened me instead.“Enjoyed your night?" Phil asked from where he stood by the mirror. His reflection smiled at me before he walked towards his wardrobe closet.I smiled back, then propped myself up. “Maybe I did,” I replied. But the activity from last night dispersed around my body like a weakening virus.“I think I need some painkillers." I mentioned, giving my thighs a little massage, Phil snorted.“Do you have Luna's duty today?" He asked while I tied my hair in a bun.I tried not to roll my eyes at that question while I put on my dress. The Luna duties are tiresome tasks and I despised the thought of it—the thought of meeting every sickened peasant in the pack, performing charity towards the children, and every other person who needs aid from the Alpha and Luna. There was no delight in such tasks, instead, th
