Luna’s Second Chance

Luna’s Second Chance

The sour taste of not being able to shift and not being loved had driven Vera into marrying a ruthless Alpha. Vera's life wasn't easy before the marriage but she didn't expect to be married to the Alpha Phil of BlackDiamond Pack. Alpha Phil Hammerstock was rejected by his first mate and it had been two years since Phil took a glassful of rejection but he still had the bitter aftertaste of that night. Every night since that night, the words seemed to re-echo as he shifted. But Lucy’s words weren’t the only words that ached his physique every time he shifted. There were also the words of the Grand Pack Committee, an ultimatum to find a Luna for himself or risk forfeiting the title of Alpha to someone more capable. Alpha Phil had wooed Vera into marrying him but a few months after their marriage, Phil signed a non-disclosure agreement with his first mate to be his breeder because Vera was unable to give him an heir. Does Vera stand a chance to maintain the Luna title or forfeit it to Lucy, Phil's first mate?

Chapter: Chapter 00145
Vera's POV“Andrew…” I muttered the words, relief etched in my tone. He had come just when I had lost all hope of escaping this place. Our gaze locked for a while before we turned away, jumping down from the car.The driver screamed, “It’s down here.” Panic leveled in his tone as his hands trembled around the wheel. The truck came to a stop, and Hon's armed men climbed out of the vehicle“Shoot that damn thing down!” The man with one eye barked, charging outside the truck with more men behind him.I was lost in the moment before Phil grabbed my hand, “Let's go… ”he said in a hurry, as we started for the door, but before we could step outside, some men blocked our path. “Where do you think you're going?“Take it down.” A voice boomed outside, arrows whistled and guns fired. Andrew's loud growl echoed in the air, causing my heart to pound even harder. He needed me.With swift motion, Phil started the fight, punching an army. I followed suit, my foot kicked in between one of the men's le

Phil's POVI didn't know what I was doing—I just moved, acting purely on instincts without thinking my absurd plan through. The good thing about my plan was that we weren't dead yet.“Bring him closer.” ordered one of the men amongst Hon’s army. I was hauled and brought to his feet. Andrew and the rest were surrounded, unable to interfere. The man crouched in front of me was bald, with an ugly scar cutting across the side of his face and a black eye patch that made him look even more menacing.“So,” he rasped. His breath reeked of decay. “You were saying?” he asked.“I was saying, you won't find the explosives here,” I replied, keeping my tone calm through the pounding of my heart.“Oh,” he sneered, “And where are they then?”“And why should I tell you?” I shot back. The man scoffed, a maddening smirk tugging at his lip, before his fists crashed into my jaw. The force sent me sprawling to the sand, grit filling my mouth.“Andrew!” Lucy's voice echoed through the chaos, sharp and pani

Chapter: Chapter 00143
Vera's POVThe longest route was abandoned, leaving the shorter routes on the north side of the moon block as Hon’s possible choices. Andrew and I took one of the shorter routes together with Phil who followed closely behind us. A thousand men also accompanied us upfront, while Alpha Sinclair and Alpha Keith took the other route, accompanied by the rest of the men.The ride was quiet, and so was the path we drove through. Huge rocks towered on each side and the dunes were thick and soft like those of the desert, causing the car to move sluggishly.“We could have ridden a Baja trunk, don't you think?” Rick muttered from the back seat.“Unfortunately, we skipped that detail while sketching a plan," I answered, then glanced over to Andrew. He hasn't said a single word since we left the crescent moon pack. Before I could ask him what was wrong, a loud noise erupted ahead of us. Orange flames lit the horizon. The blast echoed through the rocks, shaking the air itself. It was an explosion.

Chapter: Chapter 00142
Phil's POV“Here,” I said, pointing to the map while Sinclair and Keith leaned in, the room was dimly lit except for the torch's weak halo. “North side of the moon block.”“There are three paths on that side,” Sinclair said, his voice thin with curiosity and something like dread. “Which do you think Hon will follow?”I lifted my gaze to them, “I have no idea. He could come anyway. But our men would be planted on every path.”Suddenly the door creaked open, and the room fell quiet. Andrew walked in, and to my surprise, Vera followed behind him.I froze, “Vera?” The words came out of my mouth before I could stop myself, my gaze locked with hers for a second as she stepped inside with Andrew. My gaze then leapt down to see them holding hands. I felt like the biggest fool in the room—one that had enough regrets to swallow me whole.“Alpha Phil,” Andrew’s deep voice interrupted my thoughts, bringing me back to reality. The reality that there was a war to be fought in a few hours. I also su

Lucy's POVI ran to the dark cells after I successfully slipped out of the watchful gaze of the gammas. Unfortunately, I froze behind a wall after seeing a gamma guarding Jason's cell.It was impossible to go there. But then it'd be like I had to bribe the guard the rest of the time. I went forward, putting on a smile as I approached the guard.“Luna." He bowed respectfully.“I need to speak with the prisoner.”He hesitated, then stepped aside. "Alright.” He said, but clearly didn't get the concept. "I need to speak with him alone,” I added."That won't be possible, ma'am. The Alpha wouldn't like that.” The gamma explained, his eyes flickered to the bars, then to me.I peered into the darkness of the cell. I couldn’t see Jason—shadows swallowed everything—but I forced a grin. “Leave me with him and I’ll make you very rich.”The gamma stood there still, considering the offer, but to my shock, he shook his head. “I’m sorry, ma'am. I can't let you be alone with this dangerous man.”Unbe

Chapter: Chapter 00140
Vera's POVDuring dinner, Jacob kept sending me subtle glances across the table. And Andrew, on the other hand, couldn't help but flicker his gaze towards me once in a while, because he was annoyed, or rather irritated, that I had invited Jacob to join us for dinner. He'd get over it eventually. But for now, I wanted to know why Jacob had come here.“This is delicious,” Jacob said, nodding his head approvingly."Good." Andrew replied dryly, “My maids can get you some to take home.” He paused, checking his wrist watch pointedly." Speaking about home, don't you have someone waiting for you at home? It's getting late." Andrew said, putting a slice of steak into his mouth.I shot Andrew a warning glare to stop trying to send our guest away.“No, I'm still a bachelor," Jacob replied with a small smile, ignoring Andrew’s jab.“If you want the meal, we can have some packaged for you,” I said to Jacob, my eyes locking with him for a moment before I looked away.“I think I should get—” Jacob b
