Vera's POV

I had gotten lost in the heat of the moment before I realized my back had met Andrew's sheets of his bed. He hovered above me, his dark gaze searching mine tenderly. The way he looked at me felt almost familiar—maybe because I'd this moment had come as an imagination before now.

It sounded like a crazy thing to think about but I was glad it was finally happening.

Then a sharp knock disrupted the moment, shattering the rhythm of our breathing.

“Who's it?" Andrew called out, his voice rough.

“It's Diana.”

My body froze. The name alone was enough to pull me out of the haze. I tried to slip off the bed, but Andrew caught my wrist.

“What are you doing?" he whispered

"Going to hide?" I whispered.

"No. There's no need for that.” He instructed.

"Andrew—"

“Stay and don't go anywhere, okay?” He insisted softly before he pecked my forehead quickly. As I watched him climb out of the bed, a small smile crept up on my lips. His small gestures—so simple and gentle had warmed my heart so g
