The air in the bedroom felt heavy, as Rebecca sat motionless on a plush velvet stool, staring at her own reflection in the mirror. The handmaidens around her fastened the laces of her regal gown, their eyes lowered, sensing the unspoken tension in the room.

Kenziel appeared at the doorway, his footsteps echoing in the silence. A look of surprise crossed his features as he took in Rebecca's attire. "Dressed up for a gala, mate?" He inquired, his left brow raised as he entered the room.

Rebecca shifted slightly on her seat, smoothing a wrinkle in her gown. The handmaidens bowed their head slightly, and hurriedly left the room.

"Actually, I was planning on visiting my mother today." Rebecca replied, her voice measured. "She may still be worried about me, you know I've not seen her after that day."

Kenziel's expression hardened, the air in the room turning cold. "No...!" he blurted out repulsively, his voice firm and uncompromising.
