Hi everyone, I just want to thank you again for being here. It truly means an awful lot to me. Things will be picking up a lot now. I'm not totally sure yet, at what pace. But Amelia will be growing a lot. It's been hard for me, not to write a feisty female MC right from the start. But I wanted her to grow, and it’s happening bit by bit. If you're enjoying the story, please, please remember to vote and comment. It helps and means an awful lot to me. And ofc if you leave Gems, I'm absolutely thrilled. Love Jackie
Rounding the corner, I gasp at the sight in front of us. Jax pushes me immediately protective behind him.“Keep her safe,” he orders towards the others, and lets go of me.Holding on to his arm, trying to keep him here, I speak up. “No, don’t go, Jax. Stay here,” I plead with him, while my eyes dart back and forth between him and the building where my apartment is in.“I need to find out what’s going on. Please, just for once, listen to me,” he cups my face, making me look up at him. Gulping hard, I simply nod. “Tonya, Ben, bring her to my place and keep her safe. Jenny and Freddie, could you guide them too? I need as much safety as possible for her, and I want her away from here as fast as possible. But I need some people here too.”“Of course," Jenny and Freddie reply in unison. Everyone is on edge again. I watch Jax take off towards the building, together with Alex and the two guards. All the windows have been thrown in. It seems like my entire belongings have been tossed out of th
The tugging at the door gets stronger, and loud banging echoes through the entire apartment. “For fucks sake, someone open the door,” Jax calls out loudly from behind it causing me to nearly jump.Tonya jumps to her feet and rushes to the door opening it for Jax. Next to punching in the security system, Tonya had secured the door with two massive deadbolts across the door, which is now preventing Jax from being able to enter.“Why the heck, did you do that?” Jax questions angrily as soon as she has let him in. “I thought you wanted her in total safety,” she throws back at him, with her arms crossed over her chest. “I made sure absolutely no one could come in after checking the apartment.” She’s glaring at him now, her voice emphasising on "no one."Running his hands across his face, looking totally drained, he simply replies, "fine. Well done.”Entering the living room area fully, he comes in fast strides up to me, sits down onto the couch, grabbing me by the waist, he lifts me onto h
Feeling anger and disappointment burn up in me, I turn to face him. "I'm not asking for your permission. I will train. And if you aren’t prepared to help me, I’m going to find someone who does." I stand my ground and see he’s about to blow. “Brother, she’s got a point. She did amazing today, but if she had stayed in that apartment….” Alex trails off, knowing just as well as I do, that it wouldn’t have ended well. “It won’t harm to train her. You can still try to keep her safe, but in the worst-case scenario, it would be good if we don’t have to count on her naturally being good. But actually knowing we did everything we could to train her, so she can defend herself if needed.”“Thank you,” I'm truly glad to have him on my side with this. Maybe this will put Jax to some sort of sense.“I’m prepared to take over some of that training myself whenever I have spare time,” hearing this coming from Alex takes me by surprise. “Tonya and Ben can help too. We don’t need to get others involved
For days I’ve been practically locked up in this apartment. It’s been twelve days since the attack, and I’m starting to feel bored out of my mind. Jax has been busy with pack issues most of the time, totally locking me out of any of it. Ben’s mood has been up and down like a rollercoaster. In one moment he’s sitting with me and joking, trying to cheer me up. We keep talking about random things. Ben talks about all the adventures we could get into. All of them would get us into hell of a trouble with Jax, which Ben simply shrugs off. “He’s not here. Right?” He’s told me several times, causing me to laugh.Ben has become my ally in crime, what I like to call it. One day, he helped me sneak out to the fitness room before Trevor had given me the all-clear. But in other moments, Ben seems so angry with everything and shuts totally down. Whatever is on his mind, he doesn’t want to share it, but it seems to be eating him up.Tonya has been going on and on about my genetic test, nearly driv
“Amelia? What are you doing here?” Jax questions a little shocked, the anger from moments ago, fading away until Alex comes into sight.“Didn’t I order for you to keep her safe in the apartment?” Jax growls angrily at Alex.“Actually you ordered anyone but me. So I thought I’d take a chance. You took her as your mate, so she deserves more than being locked up the entire time and needs her mate, too. And before you fully blow, the staircase to this floor is locked, and I punched in our security code into the elevator. So no one but you or me will be able to access this floor right now.” Without another word, Alex turns on his heels, only giving me a tiny wink before he disappears.Suddenly, feeling insecure about being here, I stay standing in the doorway, rubbing my arm, waiting for some sort of reaction from Jax. His eyes soften, and he starts to scan me from head to toe, heat starting to rise within my body the moment he licks his lips subconsciously while he drinks me in.Feeling m
“A surprise for me?” I question, looking up at him, while keeping my head against his chest, listening to his increased heartbeat. His fingers gently tug a curl behind my hair and then caress my cheeks while he looks into my eyes. “I’ve got your new apartment set up. I want to take you there tonight.”“Oh,” is all I’m able to reply. I close my eyes, trying not to show the pang of disappointment hitting me.All along, I knew he’s been saying, I’m going to have my own apartment again soon. So this shouldn’t come as a surprise to me. This might sound ungrateful, but I wish he had left himself more time with it. Kept me here in his apartment a little while longer, close to him. If it had gone according to his wishes, I know he would have found a place for me the next day after the incident of my old apartment. But due to the entire issues and many houses at the shore being damaged, there was a lack of free apartments, taking it longer than he had intended.“You’ll be able to go out again m
Waking up, I feel like I’m in heaven. Jax’s arms are still tightly wrapped around me. If it wasn’t for my urgent need of the bathroom I’d stay right here in his comforting warmth.Once I return, Jax is already sitting up in the bed in all his glory, with the sheets slipped down to his waist, showing off his perfect torso, while he’s looking out of the window seemingly lost in thoughts.“Can we go to the mall together today?” I ask him excitedly while crawling back into bed to him.“Why?” He scans me and then the room.“I just thought maybe we could have something to eat there together and then buy a couple of things for this apartment?” I really do wish to get out a bit and have some fun time.“We could order anything you want right here,” he replies much to my displeasure. “I’m sure Ben and Tonya won’t mind. And I’ll just stay here for a couple of more hours, before I need to return to my office.”“Then I’ll simply go with Tonya instead,” I tell him quietly and step right back out of
“Get inside.” The words echo off the buildings from the empty street. Trying to blink away my tears, I see Jenny looking at me with a worried expression on her face as she holds the door to the car open.“I’m not going back to him,” I call out determined, thinking they’re here because of him.“We’re not taking you back to him if you don’t want to. I have told you before, we’re here because of you,” her voice never wavering. Everyone I know has lied to me. Everyone I trusted lied. Why should I trust her?“Did you know?” I question, with my voice breaking.“No. I promise we didn’t. I’m not going to lie, I had the feeling something was off, but I couldn’t put my finger on it. Sybil and Emily warned us, though, that you might need us as your friends at some point. We would know when the time has come.” She looks down at her fidgeting hands, obviously feeling guilty, not having told me this part now that she knows the extent of those words.Still standing in the pouring rain, drenched to
